  1. Better than random shooting sprees. Those are extremely rare in Canada, but the norm in the USA, thanks to weak gun control laws.
  2. That's strange, considering Mangione followed mainly Republican accounts, and his cousin was a Republican, sitting in the Maryland House of Delegates. "On X, Mangione posted about science and technology, including artificial intelligence and psychedelics. The roughly 75 accounts he followed included prominent academics and public figures such as Joe Rogan, Edward Snowden, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the best-selling author of “The Anxious Generation,” a book about the negative effects of social media on American teens." ----- Face it, @CdnFox, one of your own committed this murder.
  3. “‘Violence never solved anything’ is a statement uttered by cowards and predators” — Luigi Mangione
  4. Trump has a horrible history with foreign relations. Look at Syria and Afghanistan for example. First he abandons the Kurdish people, who were at odds with the Assad regime (backed by Russia). This was Trump listening to Putin. The end result was that Turkish and Syrian militia committed ethnic cleansing, drive over 500,000 Kurds out of the area. The Trump set his sights on Afghanistan. Despite no exit plan, Trump decided to withdraw all troops to the region in 2020. When Biden came to office, he could not do much, since it was set in stone. Trump will sellout the Ukraine so fast, and give Puting what he wants. Eventually the Russians will come back to conquer the entire country. Keep in mind, the Ukraine was deeply corrupt thanks to Viktor Yanukovych. When the Ukrainians got rid of him, they decided to establish close ties with the west, and take the steps to become a democracy. Russia did not like this, and invaded. Trump will dismantle democracy in the United States, and attempt to prevent Ukraine from ever establishing better ties to Europe.
  5. That's what the Nazis said to Priests in Germany, when they spoke up against the persecution of Jews....
  6. She is 100% correct. Disinformation has been the greatest threat to democracy in the past decade. We really need to pass laws and regulations, that punish the people that spread blatant disinformation. We have seen first hand at what damage it has done, especially during the COVID pandemic. Canada Proud is a perfect example of a "media" entity that has ties to Russia, and it's misinformation campaign.
  7. How do you know he was "left?' His family were Republicans. It should also be noted that the Trump/MAGA is the most hateful movement in any first World country since the Nazis in Germany. However, keep projecting. It's what fascists do best.
  8. Apparently a McDonalds worker recognised him, and he was promptly arrested at said McDonalds in Pennsylvania. It's interesting that he had his gun, manifesto, fake IDs, etc. Some criminologists are speculating that he expected to get caught, and wanted to raise awareness of the issue of predatory health insurance companies denying claims, when the inevitable happened.
  9. Maryland Del. Mangione related to suspect in health care CEO’s killing Hannah Gaskill, Baltimore Sun Mon, December 9, 2024 at 1:12 PM MST 1 min read The man arrested in connection to the murder of a health insurance executive is related to Republican Maryland House of Delegates member Nino Mangione. NBC and Fox News have confirmed that Luigi Nicholas Mangione, the 26-year-old arrested in connection to the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, 50, and Del. Nino Mangione are cousins. The Baltimore Sun was able to confirm that they are Facebook friends and follow each other on Instagram. Police arrested Luigi Mangione in Altoona, Pennsylvania, five days after Thompson was gunned down in New York City. Mangione is from Towson and graduated from the Gilman School in Baltimore. He was the class valedictorian in 2016. Del. Mangione, who is in his second term in the House of Delegates, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
  10. One of the theories I had about this murder, was that it could have been an inside job. Wasn't Brian Thompson subpoenaed to testify in Congress about unethical business practices of UnitedHealth Group, which included violating antitrust laws, and overcharging consumers? I could have seen someone paying off an assassin to prevent him from testifying. However, it appears it was motivated by the assassins ideology.
  11. Their political ideology is more important than the crimes they commit.
  12. Suspect in fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson ID’d as Luigi Mangione, an ex-Ivy League student The suspect nabbed in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson is an anti-capitalist Ivy League grad who liked online quotes from “Unabomber’’ Ted Kaczynski — and seethed in a manifesto, “These parasites had it coming,” law enforcement sources told The Post on Monday. Tech whiz Luigi Mangione, 26, originally from Towson, Md., apparently hated the medical community because of how it treated his sick relative, sources said. He has not been charged in the slaying but was taken into custody Monday morning while eating at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pa., ending an intense manhunt sparked by the coldblooded execution of Thompson outside a Manhattan hotel last week, sources said. The former prep school valedictorian was caught with a ghost gun that uses 9mm bullets, a silencer, a US passport, four fake IDs with names used during the killer’s stint in New York City and the manifesto, sources said. The manifesto consisted of two and a half handwritten pages that mirrored the quotes that Mangione posted on his Goodreads account from wacky anti-establishment Ted Kaczynski, the infamous “Unabomber’’ who terrorized the country for nearly two decades by mailing deadly bombs before he was nabbed in 1996, sources said. “Imagine a society that subjects people to conditions that make them terribly unhappy then gives them the drugs to take away their unhappiness,’’ Kaczynski wrote at one point in a quote liked by Mangione. “Science fiction It is already happening to some extent in our own society. Instead of removing the conditions that make people depressed modern society gives them antidepressant drugs. In effect antidepressants are a means of modifying an individual’s internal state in such a way as to enable him to tolerate social conditions that he would otherwise find intolerable.’’ The manifesto said the suspect acted alone, sources said. Mangione had a particularly personal reason to hate the medical community — its treatment of an ailing relative, sources said. Online obituaries show he lost a grandmother in 2013 and grandfather in 2017. His LinkedIn page indicates that he once worked in an assisted-living facility for the elderly for a few months in 2014, while still in high school. It is unclear if Mangione has yet made any statements to cops. Mangione also subscribed to anti-capitalist and climate-change causes, according to law-enforcement sources, citing online activity gleaned by authorities. Mangione was valedictorian of his 2016 high school graduating class at the Gilman School in Baltimore, where he played soccer, according to online sites. High school tuition at the all-boys school is nearly $40,000 a year. He said at the time of graduation that he planned to seek a degree in artificial intelligence, focused on the areas of computer science and cognitive science at the University of Pennsylvania, according to an interview with the Baltimore Fishbowl. The tech hotshot graduated cum laude from the private Ivy League institution in Philadelphia with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE), Computer and Information Science in 2020, according to his LinkedIn profile. He also completed a Master of Science in Engineering (MSE), Computer and Information Science at the University of Pennsylvania, his profile states. His LinkedIn suggests he is a data engineer at a car company based in California, although he lists his current home as Honolulu in Hawaii. https://nypost.com/2024/12/09/us-news/person-of-interest-in-fatal-shooting-of-unitedhealthcare-boss-brian-thompson-idd-as-luigi-mangione-an-ex-ivy-league-student/ This is a sad day. I was really rooting for the shooter to never be found. Only 12%? I have heard in the past, it may be as high as 25%
  13. Doink!
  14. In fairness to the American public, most people are not like us, and follow politics with a magnifying glass. People may have found Trump the better of the two candidates.
  15. Marijuana legalisation was a very minor event. People were smoking it when it was illegal. Police rarely ever prosecuted people who either smoked or possessed it, in limited quantities. Our COVID response was much better, and far fewer people ended up getting sick or died from COVID. Our healthcare system needs revamping, but it's nowhere near as bad as the Americans system, with predatory insurance companies, and tens of millions without insurance.
  16. Excellent. We need to stay moderate. The USA is leaning dangerously into an area of history, where its left vs right, not too different than Germany (1930-33), where it was fascists vs communists. We should reject both ideologies, and preserve democracy.

  18. Sorry about your Bills, Michael. I saw highlights, and from what I heard, Josh Allen had an incredible game. I guess the defence let him down.
  19. "Canada has no healthcare insurance executives denying medical care to people who pay them premiums for greater profits. Instead we have Provinces under funding our universal healthcare in favour of other political agendas and privatising healthcare for greater corporate profits."
