Battle over Water Rights
Caswell Thomas replied to impartialobserver's topic in State Politics in the United States
All I see in the above ..rant...is the raving of a 6th grade mentality in a right wing snake oil salesman masquerading behind the skirts of common courtesy. -
M 16 and M16A2 were issued to many troops, at least through the 1970's., up through pretty recently, but the newest is the XM7 which is soon to be replacing single shot and another for automatic firing weapons, I don't keep up on those much. I got out in '80. Glocks are good but a little too expensive for my tastes. My Hawken .54 caliber muzzle loader is more my taste these days.

Battle over Water Rights
Caswell Thomas replied to impartialobserver's topic in State Politics in the United States
Besides another commentators comment on how..unrealistic..using diesel fired desalinization plants would be, there's another much bigger problem if you cut water to California: A third of the country's vegetables and two thirds of the nations fruit and nuts are grown here. ( A few nuts are also born here but we try to ship them off to Florida or Texas as soon as we can) ? -
Apparently you don't recall my identification as a U. S. Veteran not a week or so ago. Just because I served in the U. S. Air Force doesn't mean we don't learn to shoot in it. Planes do get shot down sometimes unfortunately and if you survive the fall even with a chute there's often no one around to help you, so being a decent shot is necessary. Every member of the USAF learns to shoot. In addition I have owned a number of firearms beyond my service days, both modern and historical era pre 1840 muzzle loaders, the latter of which I shot in competition.

The original GAG Order on Donald Trump , which had been held in abeyance to see if his legal team could provide sufficient legal reason why it should not be imposed fully, and which during the interim Trump violated several times, has, by the Judge been reimposed. The Justice Department decided in view of Donald Trumps statement that basically tried to say that ANYTHING he said, no matter to whom or what about, even if it violated any part of the gag order was protected speech because he was a candidate for President. The Justice Department stated that was nonsense and violated multiple laws protecting others. Also the gist of their argument is that anyone can run for president but it does not give you any immunity from Justice if you commit a crime or have already committed any. As Donald Trump has already been indicted in several of the counts of the ( so far) 90 counts of criminal action filed against him, he is in fact a felon under the law. Therefore he already has restrictions on him that a non felon does not have.

Trump Becoming Unhinged
Caswell Thomas replied to Rebound's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Trump is acting just like a Mob Boss would, very.like in his attitude as All Capone did. Rallies trial was a sensation at the time, its recorded history and more than a few mob organizations since then...which occurred October 5th 1931. Like Trump Capone came into Court smiling, wearing the top suit of the day, and like Trump he ordered his attorneys to not obstruct him when he threatened witnesses and the Court itself and his attorneys let him. Read also the man who really took him down: Frank Wilson, the Treasury Agent. Fascinating reading and quite a lot of parallels in the two organizations and the trial evidence. Capone was convicted, sent to The Rock..Alcatraz prison on an island in San Francisco Bay. What dud they get Capone on most? Tax evasion. -
Um...off by at least 74,000 years and that's just the record if humanity that has been found so far. Read the Leakey j foundations series on the Origin of Humans, which places them through DNA from the Boomplaas Cave in South Africa. There is also this: God's idea of a year could easily be much.longer than mans.

We already have plenty of laws about responsible selling and use of firearms, we also have plenty in f psychological treatment laws, and skilled psyche as well, the problem has been that if a person wants to shoot someone or many its very hard to detect in advance. The problems with psychosis is that it is a disease and it affects people both in some similar but also dissimilar ways as well so it can be unpredictable sometimes. Having purchased several firearms in the past I have had a few background checks done on me but after one gun show I actually had to ask the seller if he had done one because they have to send you a disclosure form and he hadn't. His response was " well, if you really want all that nonsense". A friend mine ran a trace on the rifle, thankfully it was ok., the seller though had a history of non-profit compliance and they suspended his permit. How many more sellers are out there though who.look the other way? Not " non-profit "..non-compliance. Dumb kindle editor.

" at the very least could they have taken away all his guns and made sure he can't purchase any more?" Nice thought but never as simple as it sounds. Many guns are purchased with the help directly or indirectly if the NRA who has suggested in thousands of advertisements for decades that people are " entitled" to own as many guns as they like, and often those who display and brandish them often have more squirrel ed away to fill in for confiscated ones. Likewise there are less than honest sellers who will sell you one or two and never do a background check if the money is good.

Trump Trial: Televise or Not?
Caswell Thomas replied to Rebound's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
While it may seem like the opportunity of a lifetime for the Media to get this trial televised I think it would be unwise from a national security point of view. I am still thinking of the amount of time Trump spent in Russia with his pal Vladimir eagerly figuring a way to get a foothold in American politics by running his own candidate...in short "suggesting" that if Trump wants to expand into Russia with hotels and golf resorts, then perhaps Trump could " do Putin a little favor, win an election, never leave power, reopen the previously closed ( by President Obama) Russian Spy Haven Embassy, and steal and copy as many Top Secret documents he could get and send them back to Russia", if so well then Russian hackers could help hack the election by running phony ads to rile up the ever grumbling Southern great grandsons and daughters of the Confederacy and stir in some racial and creed hatred into open flames to distract the Public so Russian Mafia money could buy off the rest of the Republican leaders. -
Jim Jordan for Speaker?
Caswell Thomas replied to Nationalist's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
To BE "confiscated" they had to have been brought to the Insurrection with intent to use. Otherwise, when told they would be arrested , they wouldn't have given them up. Even so, many of those who gave up those weapons, improvised with items grabbed from smashed barricades, from wrecked news media equipment, and from stuff brought through the barriers by those who went around the metal detectors instead of through them. Several groups were armed with multiple firing firearms including assault rifles, hand guns, one even had a crossbow! -
China Accuses US of Disrupting Peace
Caswell Thomas replied to Deluge's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
There is no way America is " independently strong", we need far too much in material to conduct war from other nations, even stockpiles, when you have greatly depleted your own local resources...such as oil, coal, pitch blend, lithium etc. run out eventually. We are strong because we are united with our allies, not alone. That America the Independent is a thing of the past and reflexes linear thinking. -
China Accuses US of Disrupting Peace
Caswell Thomas replied to Deluge's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Trump and too many of today's Republican party member s still think of wars as WWII and worse like Hollywood versions of those war years . They don't seem to realize that having your enemy at arms length is much safer than having them rolling ashore on your vacation beaches. Also America is strong because we have so many strong allies. -
Well since Congress in 2015 MANDATED such sales to drive down the price of oil which was creating a bad economy, and the Republicans highest donors are oil barons who used to ( prior to March 2021) be draining the Strategic Reserve for their.own.profit which drove UP the prices of oil ...and were stopped by Biden in 2021, I'd say it's not Biden's fault no matter what year it is.

Trump's grandstanding has once again prompted a Court response. After listening to a replay of Trumps comment and watching his eyes and body language, the Judge was right, Trump intentionally did violate the gag order. You see Trump is like a certain minority of people who simply think the law and authority over them doesn't exist so no matter what they are told, they still run their mouth and let their disdain and anger become threatening body language thinking no one can read it except the intended victim...but, like those skilled in reading "eye code" and body language, they read like the proverbial " open book". Many of those so skilled are experienced Judges.

I know the FBI far better than you do. My primary occupation for years followed similar objectives in what is , for them, a very small portion of what they do. I don't look for the bad in organizations that are charged with and often heralded as successful in protecting our national security. I personally believe that there ARE 5th Columnists in America intent on destroying the national security by constantly deriding the protective agencies of the country, I consider them to be the " domestic enemies" mentioned in every Oath to defend the Constitution and the Country taken by those of us who volunteered to put our lives on the line defending it. So I am going to say this, If you and your friends don't like the U. S. A. , don't feel you have to stay.
