Things may get chippy in online forums, but it really isn't a mirror in the general public or the media. I'm not aware of any mainstream media that says Republicans are evil and actively invested in destroying the country because they hate America and hate freedom. That's not what's happening on ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, BBC or CNN. It's just not happening. Even MSNBC, which is the closest parallel to Fox appears to be mostly policy and character criticism. Thinking/saying that people are wrong is dramatically different than saying that the political opposition is evil. Trump is a singularly bad character, but it's entirely because he's an awful human being and wholly invested in himself, not because he's a Republican.

This is a very interesting point of conversation. We can really trace this back to Rush Limbaugh. As more and more "conservatives" started mainlining his hate it created a market for Fox News and the entire hard right media bubble. And political campaigns increasingly tapped into it to mine votes. -- Before long we lost our serious conservative opposition. Instead of policy disagreements the table stakes were that liberals hate America and have a secret agenda to destroy the country.

No, you kook. Precedent means that some substantively similar situation had happened before and can it should inform behavior in a later occurrence. Wildly dissimilar circumstances do not constitute precedent. No VP has ever been in that position before. And there is no legal mechanism for Pence to have done what Trump pressured him to do. No, apparently you'd think she had a duty to do so. That's how you feel about Pence, no? I mean, unless you're just a rank partisan hypocrite you'd have to be consistent, right?

1. 1877? Trying to say that this terribly corrupt reconstruction-era fiasco is precedent for modern politics is patently absurd. 2. There was a law passed in direct response to this fiasco which lays out the procedure for counting certified votes and which also makes the fake elector crew guilty of felonies. 3. The same law lays out the VP role in counting the electoral votes. This (and basic decency) guided Pence to reject Trump's corrupt orders. So, again, no there was no precedent. Every state had certified their electoral results. There was a law dictating the steps and responsibilities for the vote count. And No VP has EVER simply chosen to count fake electoral votes instead of the certified votes. It was a crooked scheme to overturn democracy and seize power. A coup. And it should appall decent people everywhere.

Tim Walz Quotes The Bad Guys From 1984

No one understands WTF you're even talking about. Tim Walz tells people to vote and you tell us that actually means "they want full and total control of your life." It's just nonsense. Do better. -

One cannot miss what doesn't exist. You haven't even attempted to make a point. No coherent thought has been articulated. -

That was quite a direct post. Unlike the pile on non-sequiturs that comprise the OP. -

You know, KSU, it would be handy if there were a coherent thought in this post. Super useful in a thread starter.👍 -
Yeah, and the fantasy world is going to hell lately. Immigrants are eating our pets and performing post-birth abortions. 🙄 Nobody actually "fact checked" Trump. He didn't have a single fact right all night. They reacted to the really insane shit he said like 4 times. It was an exercise in restraint.

Yes. And I'm familiar with that history. There's not a damn thing in any of it about Vice President simply "choosing" a winner or choosing to delay the counting of state-certified votes. Nobody had ever done what Trump was pressuring Pence to do. Which is EXACTLY why you posted a naked link instead of quoting the evidence. You knew you were FOS when you posted it.

^^makes a half-assed attempt to demonstrate that that different people could conceivably use a recognizably unique user name so that identities aren't reliably traceable. Instead gets recognized almost immediately. Too farking great.🤣😂😂

President Harris - Jan 2025
Hodad replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
^^Links to an article about Trump's bogus fraud claims and his attempt to steal the election, but not smart enough to understand that. 🤦♂️ -
I guess that's bad news for the sub-m0ron she toyed with so easily. You know, the guy you're rooting for.

The "Kamala's a m0ron" narrative plays a bit thinner after she played Trump like a cheap fiddle on national TV, no? You guys should get some new material.

Donald loves the poorly educated
Hodad replied to CrakHoBarbie's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
You are right that a degree doesn't make someone better than someone else. And you may be right that you are not smarter than someone else. But I did not speak of goodness or of individual intelligence, but of a trend. A college degree--and particularly an advanced degree--is correlated with measurable intelligence. If someone gave you the task of choosing 1 person with an above-average IQ plucked from a crowd, would you choose to pluck from a college graduation ceremony or the local mall? And if you can't figure out the answer, I can suggest a place to learn it. And yes, graduates are absolutely better educated. If someone gave you the same challenge to pick 1 person who would be able to explain the driving mechanisms of evolution or macroeconomics or even basic statistics, would you do your choosing at a college graduation ceremony or at the local mall? Like those subjects, critical thinking is part of most general education. You probably were taught critical thinking as an undergraduate, and likely some statistics. So these are very easy questions. You just find the answers politically inconvenient. -

As a trend, yes college grads are smarter. There are standards to get in and through, and then there's the matter of self selection. Most of the people who don't have the smarts to succeed academically figure that out in high school. (Though, by the time they make it to an internet forum, many somehow forget that they weren't the smart kids in class.) But more importantly, college grads are better educated. -

We always warn against "the blind following the blind" but I'm not sure it's better if the follow the dumb. -
You can't "make sure of" anything. Lol. You are miles and miles (or kilometers) from having any influence on the historical view of an administration. Yes, illegally. Eastman himself, the architect of the scheme, admitted that it was illegal and ultimately asked for a pardon in advance of the fallout, in case they failed.
