You are probably right to an extent. Thing is, in my area almost every store is looking for workers. They did a news stories and store owners say they get tons of emails but no one shows up. This time of year bigger stores are looking for seasonal workers and they are not getting people showing up either (Costco stores here (3 in my area) say they have not gotten near the people they need. I have relatives in the Okanagan Valley and they could not get workers in the orchard or vineyards and crops rotted. I understand the same situation was experienced in Ontario. Traditionally and realistically, it has been foreign workers (temporary or not) that have worked in the agriculture, orchard etc area because Canadians did not want to work there. I understand they are minimum wage jobs but, we have always had minimum wage jobs and there were folks willing to work for it. Yes, things cost more nowadays but they were costly to those that worked for min wage before too. I personally lived through the 15% mortgage rates and had to do without for a number of years but we did.
