  1. Point was and is, We, Canada owned it and some of you conservatives have been comparing Norways SWF and how it got the funds and how big the SWF is. Norways funds come from it's ownership and royalties of it's oil. We do not own the oil....Harper sold it and Alberta gets the royalty. Yes, Martin put the remaining 19% share up for public sale in 2004. Harper sold 81% in 1991 EDIT: Correction Prime Minister Brian Mulroney's Progressive Conservative government began the privatization of Petro-Canada, selling the first shares of the government-owned corporation to the public in July 1991."
  2. Petro-Canada Was Once Government- Owned Petro-Canada was founded in 1975 under Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau by the federal government as a Crown corporation to keep Canada's energy resources under Canadian control. , Prime Minister Brian Mulroney's Progressive Conservative government began the privatization of Petro-Canada, selling the first shares of the government-owned corporation to the public in July 1991.
  3. Comparing Canada with Norway in SWF's makes no sense. "While Norway's oil industry is not fully nationalized, but it is heavily state-controlled and managed through a "hybrid" model. The government ensures maximum public benefit by owning 67% of Equinor (formerly Statoil), controlling 70% of state-owned direct financial interests (SDFI) in production licenses, and taxing profits at a high 78% rate" In contrast, Canada does not own any oil production. Harper sold ours to China "In December 2012, the Harper government approved the $15.1-billion acquisition of Calgary-based Nexen Inc. by the Chinese state-owned company CNOOC." We, Canada, make no profit off oil to invest in anything. "The Alberta government acts as the resource owner, owning 81% of the mineral rights in the province. It sets the conditions and collects the royalties to support provincial services." Comparing with Japan is equally as useless. Japan has immeasurably more manufacturing capability as Canada and exports far far more manufactured product than Canad a as well.
  4. It is very very clear to me that you have no idea what a sovereign fund is and, as usual, have no idea what you are talking about.. LOL It has nothing to do with a political party let alone decisions by a political leader. LOL https://www.ifswf.org/what-is-a-sovereign-wealth-fund https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sovereign_wealth_fund https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/sovereign_wealth_fund.asp It is an investment platform that many other counties use. Even CPP and Ontario Teachers Pension use it. " A more grounded discussion on public finance might be helpful here. I don’t expect every political leader, including Pierre Poilievre, to go deep into the technical details of commercial financing structures—luckily, we have an Oxford PhD in economics to help lead Canada—but it’s worth recognizing that mechanisms like sovereign wealth funds are fundamentally different from how governments borrow and spend for day-to-day operations, like what PP indicated using credit card. A sovereign wealth fund is generally built by investing national assets—such as natural resource revenues, infrastructure capacity, and innovation potential—into diversified portfolios to generate long-term returns, making it closer to an investment approach that aims to grow value over time, and attract additional investment and partnership to speed up the process. By contrast, government borrowing for operating expenses is more about covering current spending (like deficits), which must be repaid later and typically doesn’t generate a direct financial return; in simple terms, one is about building assets, while the other is about funding expenses. When we talk about Canada’s natural resources, infrastructure, innovation, or stable partnerships, the real question is whether we treat them as assets to invest in and grow, or just as costs on a balance sheet—and while people can disagree on policy direction, being clear on this distinction helps keep the conversation productive." If you would only get informed on most of your posts, you would not post so much BS LOL
  5. From a news source that cannot be linked "Pierre Poilievre is out doing a “zero tax on gas” rally like campaign season never ended. The problem? He already lost the election, and lost his own seat the same night. Most people would take the hint. He grabbed a microphone. Taxes on fuel don’t vanish into thin air. They help fund roads, bridges, transit, healthcare, emergency services, infrastructure, and provincial programs Canadians use every day. You can’t just scream “cut it to zero” with no replacement revenue, then turn around and whine about deficits, debt, and crumbling services. That’s the Poilievre model: promise everything, cost nothing, blame everyone. He isn’t offering an economic plan. He’s selling bumper stickers to angry people. The CPC keeps him because they know that no matter who they run, Carney cannot be beat. Also rage is easier than policy, and slogans are cheaper than solutions. But no amount of shouting changes this reality: Canadians chose seriousness over theatre. He’s not leading a movement. He’s farming outrage from the political sidelines." An opinion...like so many others on this thread but this does make you question PP's rhetoric.
  6. Yes except opinion with facts. She insulted all Canadians and especially conservatives voters as I said,. "She insulted all voters that did not vote for conservatives 4 times, so..yup, she insulted Canadians." Perhaps I am and I never said anything was going to make anyone smarter. "in reality liberals don't like criticism of any kind"... well, I think it is the conservative that have the most issues with being criticized...it is very evident here where any criticism is attacked with smears and insults. It seems OK for conservatives to criticize but not to be criticized. Just look at goodess dozens of post on this thread alone and coinfux or legoman or nefarius frootloops retorts.
  7. AHA!!! That sounds like a you problem. Trying to back track...and failing LOL
  8. So sad you disrespect goodeess like that but, I understand LOL
  9. Yup...post after post of selective propaganda. As i said, a tremendous effort but pure fanatsy...as usual. My history??? Have you checked others like verandaboy??? Or Army Guy? Or coinfux? Tit for tat...as I have said many times. Oh, are you accusing me of needing medication? Are you implying I have some disease?? Kinda accusatory without evidence like goodess? Anti PP or anti conservative is not an illness...in fact, you should admire my ability to see through the BS.
  10. Nothing I said is full of shit. It is all fact....clearly not the facts you like but fact nonetheless LOL She insulted all voters that did not vote for conservatives 4 times, so..yup, she insulted Canadians. Thats a fact Well, whether you like it or not, clearly there was nothing the conservative leaders had to offer that made Canadian voters change their mind and become conservatives...and that's a fact LOL Yup, you are excused and...also kept out of governing, another fact A tremendous amount of effort all for naught except to make goodess Karen feel better about herself but, in 11 years and 4 liberal governments...the conservatives have failed to convince Canadians they are worthy of becoming government. Seems only LOSERS hang onto nothing and just try to justify their failures Bottom line is I don't like cilantro but in reality, no one cares and there is nothing anyone can do about it...sorta like thegoodess diatribe here
  11. HA HA H A You and your ilk been whining for a year since Carney got voted as Prime Minister and what has happened? Oh yeah...4 progressive MP's jumped ship LOL You and your ilk have cried and whined for over 11 years and 4 elections and 3 leaders and what has that gotten you? Oh yeah, more liberal government LOL You and your ilk have cried and whined about Trudeau so he stepped down and a person in politics for 2 months blew your leader with 20 years experience out of the water and even lost his seat LOL. There is one thing you are a clear winner at though...that is being a LOSER LOL
  12. Nope. You can make list after list and call names and diss and insult Carney and the liberals all you want. Canadians have spoken time after time (4 times in 11 years) that the liberals are far more relevant and capable to govern than the conservatives and their leaders. Not only that...you insult all Canadians that voted. LOL Sometimes I think Canadian conservatives are like trump voters...the least educated in the country LOL. "Trump overwhelmingly leads his rivals for support among the less educated," Bottom line...no matter how much effort goodless makes...Carney is still the leader and PP is not LOL. And even PP's MP's are abandoning the sinking ship LOL
  13. For such an evil man....he is still the Prime Minister over your little PP LOL And, his party is leading the polls And he is way leading the polls for the who is the best choice of PM https://newsinteractives.cbc.ca/elections/poll-tracker/canada/
  14. He can not dictate what the premiers can or cannot do. There is a clear federal/provincial jurisdiction line. He can discuss and encourage but the Premiers and their cabinet/legislators and voters decide. You are always whining about dictatorships and here you are wanting Carney to be one LOL But polievere was campaigning against Trudeau LOL It took PP 4 or 5 months to realize he was beaten by Carney LOL
  15. Who ever said O'Foole was an authority??? Who is quoting O'Foole??? It was a piece in a newspaper. He was leader and, like a honourable person, stepped down when he lost. More importantly, he is Canadian and doing what is best for Canada...not just complaining about everything in Canada is wrong like his new leader. Seems he changed his mind...but has not crossed the floor....yet LOL Oh and, it was not "years of saying he was like Trump". O'Foole was leader (2020-2022) and Trump was not yet elected.
  16. Then maybe the conservatives should have voted for banning floor crossing??? LOL
  17. Cannot put the link up as Facebook won't allow it but here it goes https://globalnews DOT ca/news/11814734/otoole-poilievre-conservatives-carney/ "Former Conservative Party leader Erin O’Toole believes his successor Pierre Poilievre needs to change his policies in order to compete with Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Liberal Party. “I think they do need to moderate some of the positions to reach out to more Canadians,” O’Toole said in an interview with Global News. “If you look at what the Liberals have done with Mark Carney, they have a leader who is more to the centre, centre-right. They don’t have (Justin) Trudeau on the further left anymore. They have to adapt to Canada as it is now … and the opponent Conservatives have now.” While O’Toole says Poilievre has done a good job of holding the government to account, he is urging the party to “ignore the culture war issues, ignore the floor crossings, and just focus on the long-term prosperity of Canadians.” O’Toole led the federal Conservatives between 2020 and 2022, losing the 2021 election to the Liberals under Trudeau. O’Toole was ousted after the Conservative caucus voted to remove him during the Freedom Convoy’s protest in downtown Ottawa. The former party leader still believes Poilievre will lead the Tories into the next election, but was critical of the party’s embrace of social media influencers under Poilievre. “Some of the influencers within the conservative movement now are the biggest gifts to the Liberal Party I’ve ever seen. Ignore all those so-called influencers. They’re going to guarantee you a loss in the next election,” O’Toole said. Poilievre has done multiple interviews with influencers since blowing a 20-point lead in the polls and losing the 2025 federal election. The party also granted media accreditation to prominent influencers during the last election campaign and gave special accreditation for influencers during the recent Conservative convention. Story continues below advertisement O’Toole believes the party is too beholden to what those influencers are posting. “Pierre is a smart policy person as well, so maybe he wants to have a Conservative thinkers conference — not a Conservative tweeters conference — and come up with some smart ideas for the future,” O’Toole told Global News. O’Toole joined the Prime Minister’s Advisory Committee on Canada-U.S. Economic Relations on Tuesday and was very complimentary of Carney."
  18. Here is something informative "The Investigative Journalism Foundation reported that at least seven Conservative MPs held Brookfield stock while the party was criticizing Mark Carney over his past role leading the investment giant. Among them was deputy leader Melissa Lantsman, who disclosed in 2024 that she and her spouse owned shares in Brookfield. (Investigative Journalism Foundation) And that is the core issue. You can't spend weeks treating Brookfield as some sinister symbol of Liberal corruption and then quietly hold stock in the same company and expect no one to notice. That isn’t a strong argument; it’s a self-inflicted wound backed by documentation. The basic contradiction is simple: if Brookfield is such a political scandal, why were Conservative MPs comfortable profiting from it? (Investigative Journalism Foundation)" Ahhh yes...hypocritical conservatives are at it still LOL
  19. Like PP Le Pew ever answers any questions LOL. All he ever says is "After 11 years of Liberal rule......"
  20. Done good Eh?? LOL So glad you are flattered If you would only post something reasonable...you would not get them. I am real pleased to say, I pi$$ you off LOL Oh, and I didn't read all of your posts...first sentence is an insult so immediately you get arrows verandahbouy is playing the game too.
  21. Well, all you conservative here... Prove that "Marilyn Gladu is saying that she was bribed to cross the floor by the LPoC," You won't because you can't LOL. Still waiting for wesconfuxman to prove Gladu was bribed... As expected, no proof and just another conservative PP groupie rectal pluck LOL Did you guys really hate it when it was your own MP's voted against banning floor crossing or when Harper said As for the " obviously immoral" attitude about floor crossers...you seem to forget that your party voted against banning it LOL And your former leaders said it as OK and even courageous LOL "Stephen Harper: Mr. Speaker, as I have said before, I believe members of Parliament should have that freedom and be accountable to their constituents for their decisions at the next election. However, in my observation, the only parties that really have this as an obsession are the parties that no one ever crosses to." Even Scheer called floor crosser courageous LOL Nice deflections LOSERS but...your dilemmas are self inflicted wounds LOL So, still waiting for you to prove Gladu was bribed ....
