  1. Feds, provinces, municipalities all have regulations, red tape.....that are changeable based on needs and requirements. We only have rules, regulations and laws because something happened and needed to be controlled. Yeah... the indigenous have veto...for sure.
  2. You keep saying I am frightened so you must know....you seem to think you know it all LOL
  3. Nope , just saying we, Canadians need China for buying our resources as well as making things for us so we can buy them cheap LOL If you don't like it...go ahead and boycott China and everything you need and buy that is made in China...
  4. Just saying it was not just Liberals...Harper did it otoo
  5. "While Stephen Harper was Prime Minister (2006-2015), there weren't widespread, federally driven statue removals, but discussions about historical figures like Sir John A. Macdonald (Canada's first PM) were happening, with some debates and eventual removals occurring". " Several buildings and public infrastructure sites were renamed during Stephen Harper's tenure as Prime Minister of Canada (2006–2015). These actions were often part of a broader, politically driven focus on Canadian history and the "restoration" of historical memory,"
  6. Again...fear of what... I have asked 4 or more times and you keep deflection. Typical conservative manoeuvre...make accusations and keep with the obfuscation,. LOL
  7. And what do you think is is about?? What in it helps your criticism? Where does it mention oil?? I think it may be a bit academic for you to understand LOL Here is Cole notes ... "Value(s): Building a Better World for All," argues that our world faces a crisis in values, where market values (price) have overshadowed human/societal values (fairness, responsibility, sustainability), leading to inequality and instability; he calls for a return to foundational human values to build a more equitable and resilient future, using insights from his central banking experience during crises like the 2008 crash and the pandemic. Core Argument: Root Causes: He links problems like inequality, climate change, systemic racism, and job insecurity to this crisis. Solution: The book proposes transforming markets to serve humanity, not the other way around, advocating for tangible actions to prioritize human potential and collective good over short-term profit. Crisis of Values: Carney contends that "market economies" have become "market societies" where price dictates value, eroding fundamental human values like integrity, kindness, and fairness. Key Values Discussed: Dynamism, Resilience, Sustainability, Fairness, Responsibility, Solidarity, Humility. Insights & Experience: Draws on his time as Governor of the Bank of England and his role in the 2008 financial crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic. Purpose: To provide a roadmap for leaders and individuals to build a more just and sustainable world by rebalancing market and human values.
  8. As I said "China has been involved in industrial espionage for many decades all over the world... as has the US, Russia and many other countries (probably Canada too)." I am not as paranoid as some seem to be on this forum. China was OK for years when you were able to buy their cheap products but now you want to make it political and they are the bad guys...hypocrites LOL
  9. My quote??? Carney reduced the red tape with the MOU and the tanker ban can be cancelled wit the stroke of a pen if there was any interest a for building the pipeline. It has to travel over indigenous land so...they always had veto;
  10. That the Conservatives are committing suicide . Combat arms??? Military? LGBTQ?
  11. Per capita means absolutely nothing in this discussion. It is you that seems to want to break down something that does not need to be broken down. You can stop trying to force your nonsense upon me
  12. Who's book??? LOL You are giving links to personal opinions...well, as they say opinions are like arses...everyone has one LOL Bottom line is we need to sell our oil wherever we can The US has been our only customer and they have become unreliable.
  13. What other media should I watch read or listen to....enlighten me LOL I dig deep to get info.... I think anything you have to say is conservative brainwashed blather LOL
  14. Hey...you don't have to like them and they could care less what you think, the bottom line is they are the worlds largest economy and their citizens get advantage of it. The only one that has personal experience is the one that started the thread blackbird... and he described it ...you are just making noise. In believe him more than you Have a great evening...good by
  15. What rhetoric (do you even know what that word means? LOL). I guess I should take that as a compliment rhetoric the art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing, especially the use of figures of speech and other compositional techniques. No, you made the accusation 3 times that I was frightened and I ask you of what.... You seem to be able to throw out accusations yet you cannot answer the question... Are you frightened of what answer you may provide? LOL
  16. I observe. At whatever media presents. What else is there to read, watch, see other than media? Facebook? TikToK? Do you have a suggestion as to where it get information?
  17. Again I ask...of what???
  18. Of what?? A little man that lost 2 elections and the seat he held for 20 years and has done nothing but complain??? That cannot leave the country to meet with world leaders because he has no security clearance? What is there to be frightened of??? LOL The conservatives will keep him as leader and that will only guarantee the Liberals remain in power...now that scare me
  19. Geez, a wannabe Prime Minister of a country and you like the fact he is not internationally aware??? The conservatives themselves have portrayed themselves as scary ....they have nothing to offer...4 elections lost and 3 leaders defeated and the conservatives will most likely keep the leader that has lost twice and even lost his own seat. How could Canadians look at the conservatives as leading the country??? The injury to the conservatives are self inflicted wounds.
  20. Consistent at what??? What has PP done? Besides complain? What can PP do? He cannot even leave the country to find out what is actually happening in the world. There is no world leader wanting to speak with him. Face it, PP is a zero, a nobody on the world stage.
  21. Per capita?? What does that imply or even mean? And your basis of "a step above 3rd world" means what and what proof do you have of that?? And your claim of "their people do not have anywhere near the average quality of life of a Canadian. " is based on what proof?? "China provides significant social welfare, achieving near-universal basic health insurance and expanding elder care, yet faces challenges with system strain, urban-rural disparities, and severe human rights issues like suppressed freedoms" ": China has built a system with near-universal basic health coverage, financing it through taxes and subsidies, greatly improving access, especially for the poor, though it faces funding pressures and cost-sharing issues. Poverty Reduction: Significant strides have been made in poverty alleviation, with extensive programs ensuring basic needs and medical care for impoverished populations. Elder Care: Policies focus on a blend of home, community, and institutional care, aiming to support the elderly, though traditional family support remains crucial" How is our poverty reduction or elder care working???? Seems that you "live in purposeful ignorance" and just make unsubstantiated claims? I hate to even try to defend a dictatorship like China but what I hate even more is people making statements without merit.
  22. What is said is one thing...what is reality is another. China is the worlds 3rd largest county (0.2% smaller than Canada). China's population is around 1.4 billion people That is a lot of people and a lot of land and being the worlds largest economy....something must be working well. Bottom line, China is doing very well and Carney dealing with them is a good idea.
  23. China is the worlds 2nd biggest economy...hardly 3rd world. Where the people live is of no concern....are our farmers living in the middle of nowhere in the prairies in the same category? Or the ones living in NWT or Nunavut or Northern BC or Yukon?
