  1. What are you on about again??? Healthcare??
  2. Yeah, right LOL
  3. Bottom line is you were a fanboy of the queen, not royalty ? And certainly not Canadian. So, whatever else you have to say has no applicability here in Canada. Oh and me, I am not a monarchist in any way.
  4. You said, "my allegiance was to Elizabeth Windsor, personally now that she is dead, all my allegiances to ridiculous pathetic Canada are absolved" I called you out on that. You never said or pledged any allegiance to Canada at any time. And the constitution cannot be dissolved by majority vote. If even considered, it would require a lot including the Monarchy.
  5. You have never said you have any allegiance to Canada, only to the Queen. Post National State? Huh??
  6. It is you that kept and keeps on and on and on about pledging your allegiance to the Queen and your love for her. Just pointing out it was a pledge to royalty as opposed to the person and today, it will still be to royalty, but it will be king. And, the vast majority of Canadians are Canadians, as they do not pledge to royalty.
  7. You do realize that you pledged to British royalty, who just happened to be a woman at the time of your pledge? Today, you would pledge to British royalty as well and it would be to a man.
  8. Britain has an elected Prime Minister. It is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary system as in Canada. Not like a museum at all. A constitutional monarchy, parliamentary monarchy, or democratic monarchy is a form of monarchy in which the monarch exercises their authority in accordance with a constitution. That is the reason we have a Governor General in Ottawa and Lieutenant Governors in the Provinces.
  9. Who and what are you quoting? I never said anything about "indirect jobs". I do not see or understand your point... if there is one. Lets spell out what you are talking about, apples or horsesh*t? Again, what are you talking about?? Compensation is your salary and benefits for the job you do. You may have a very good discussion and argument in your head but are for sure having a tough time getting it in a post
  10. I am only addressing your complaint about the public service and informing you that it is misguided and simple minded. There are lots of salaries and benefits that exceed $100K. Even Ottawa bus drivers are over that just to name another.
  11. I think that your surprise at salary including benefits is misguided. If you take any employee working that has pension, vacation, parental leave and other mandatory benefits plus salary, you will be surprised as well. Normally benefits are not included when you speak about wages but they are substantial. The the average UAW salary is around $73 an hour, not including any benefits. Benefits add up fast. The auto industry is responsible for over 500,000 direct and indirect jobs across Canada. Fact is 1/4 million out of 36 million is not that many and is very much sustainable. Considering that the feds have to have presences in every region/province/city/town/village in the country, the number is not surprising. Do you actually think Pierre whatever will cut spending and public servants?? The last conservative PM had the largest cabinet ever. Not defending but just putting perspective into the conversation. Oh and, didn't read the article you linked because I could not get past the paywall.
  12. "Twenty-five years ago, Parliament enacted section 718.2(e) of the Criminal Code. Its purpose was to lower Canada’s high incarceration rate by requiring sentencing judges to consider all alternative sanctions to prisons, particularly for Indigenous offenders. " When Harper was PM https://www.thestar.com/opinion/contributors/2022/01/03/canada-must-end-the-over-incarceration-of-indigenous-people.html
  13. Don't want to or need to "sooth" myself for anything. As I have mentioned before, in ER, the most serious get treated first. Triage is done. I was in Air Force search and rescue and spent a lot of time delivering to emergency departments. We landed the helicopter and the patients were transferred. We had to wait many times to get equipment back because the people we were delivering were less serious than someone already there. We have dropped off patients and they were the only ones in emergency. It all depends on the day, timing and what is going on. This has nothing to do with shortages, it has everything to do with the size of the emergency department and the personnel assigned to it and of course, the day. A pure hospital administration issue. Hospitals get funding and they decide how and where to spend the funding. There is no hospital in the world that will staff for "just in case". You are being over dramatic and clearly do not understand hospital function. You only see recent problems caused by pandemic issues and assume. But you are changing your position. You wanted more foreign nurses (and doctors) to be pushed through and accredited faster and now, in Ontario, the Province has made the nurses responsible for coming up with a plan to do so. Rightly so. The nurses will decide who makes it and does not based on their own regulatory authority.
  14. Protectionism (or fear of reprisal) is a major reason crime is bad on "reservations". The RCMP cannot get information from the community to assist in solving crimes so, the crime often stays unsolved.
  15. it is always the fault of the rules... as you so constantly remind.
  16. Lets then.
  17. But we could?? RIP to Queen Elizabeth II. She was an honourable lady and controlled that bizarre family.
  18. The system failed in the past 2 years when the hospitals, clinics and LTC etc were overwhelmed by a worldwide pandemic. Not systemic for years (unless you say the past 2 years). You were the one that wanted foreign credentials to be fast tracked. Now that Ontario is making the Nurses association come up with a plan, you back off? You are now questioning the foreign credentials when before, you wanted it accepted quickly? You cannot have it your way back then and now question your assertions and demands.....or do you?
  19. I hope you are aware that nursing schools have been full with students for many years. Many do not make it the full 4 years. Some choose not to stay in the profession for numerous reasons and one major reason is the shift work (as my professional nurse for a long time tells me). Using the term "systemic "is unfounded. schools have been graduating nurses as fast as they can.
  20. Why would that be? Perhaps too many natives and blacks commit most crimes?? You don't get imprisoned for being nice.
  21. I do not think the system is soft on crime, it is bowing to the indigenous that claim they are being unduly imprisoned. Lots of programs to release them https://www.csc-scc.gc.ca/002/002-0004-en.shtml https://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/cnt/cntrng-crm/crrctns/cmmnt-ccrctns-nttv-prjcts-en.aspx http://www.ajic.mb.ca/volumel/chapter12.html Is it right? In my opinion, no. As too often the ones released are again, problematic. This guy had 59 criminal convictions, one being attempted murder to one of the people that were stabbed and killed.
  22. This is exactly as it should be. The body that controls the nurses should be the ones authorizing foreign nurses. How can you even think the government authorizing and forcing foreign nurses into the system without the nursing organization approval. The government is giving the nurses control. The proper thing. The action by Ontario government is the proper step to getting more nurses into the system. I am baffled by your post and what it is supposed to mean. You are getting what you have been complaining about.
  23. Well, all the dissenters (of every party) since 1867 have failed in changing it. I also think is is a bit stupid but, it is not a reward for failure it is/was a unity issue in the beginning. It gives money to provinces with the best accountants and best financial manipulators. It does not punish, it does share the wealth though. Like it or not, it is here to stay, completely entrenched
