You fail to get that while there may have been 40K hired, you do not take into consideration how many left, retired or were made redundant and were replaced by new hires. The fact from the link is that there are only .02% more not than there were in 2010. Consultants were not or are not part of this discussion. Numbers of pubic servants is. The number of consultants and contractions changes from month to month and year to year. Again, the OP posted the lkink https://www.canada.ca/en/treasury-board-secretariat/services/innovation/human-resources-statistics/demographic-snapshot-federal-public-service-2022.html "Between the 2015-16 and 2021-22 fiscal years, about 4.5 per cent of full-time federal public service employees left the government, with departure rates ranging from 3.6 to 5.3 per cent. In 2022, the size of the federal public service was 335,957, and there were about 15,118 (4.5 per cent) employees departures" https://ottawacitizen.com/news/loss-of-5000-public-servants-to-attrition-a-drop-in-the-bucket-says-pbo

500 votes can easily be overcome. Plus, there were what, 75 or 80 candidates the split the votes? https://www.elections.ca/Scripts/vis/candidates?L=e&ED=35090&EV=58&EV_TYPE=3&PROV=ON&PROVID=35&QID=-1&PAGEID=17 It is the first by election that trudeau lost out of 8 by elections and it is good he lost but I would not jump up and down. It is the GTA after all and a liberal stronghold. Where Ontario goes, there goes the government. Hopefully Ontario will come to understand he has to go. You are a f'n 1diot. I spew nothing. I discuss with logic, you puke out without thought.

"the number of federal public servants increased from 282,980 to 335,957 (an increase of 18.7%)" Since 2010 "The federal public service comprised 0.86% of the Canadian population in 2022. Over the last 10 years, the size of the federal public service in relation to the Canadian population fluctuated but it now represents a greater proportion of the Canadian population than in 2010 when it represented 0.84%. " A .02% increase in 12 years in relation to the population. There was 6 million population increase in those 12 years." And that does not even include the huge amount of refugees and immigrants from 2022 to now. Oh and the US president (thy appoint secretariat (ministers) has 15 top secretaries and then ther are 26 cabinet members as well (under the vice president).

Once again. From the OP's link: "the number of federal public servants increased from 282,980 to 335,957 (an increase of 18.7%)" Since 2010 "The federal public service comprised 0.86% of the Canadian population in 2022. " A .02% increase in 12 years. 6 million population increase in those 12 years. Trudeau was not in office in 2010. Lots of good info in the OP's link.

Probably right but, the requirements were there and clear and a person appyling was supposed to meet all requirement. Thing is they never vetted, just paid out The problem was that they knew there was fraud but they never came after fraudsters till now. They waited too long. They gave notice 2 years ago and again last year so now they are starting to take action. The got the public servants that got CERB a while ago now the rest of the false recipients are gettign hit. https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/cra-threatening-legal-measures-to-recoup-billions-from-ineligible-covid-19-benefit-recipients/ar-BB1p1e6G?cvid=46f63c72ec7d44eac3a2a4ba93cb56ba&ei=12

Boo Hoo. You got punted out so you are no longer on the gravy train and are pissed LOL "The federal public service comprised 0.86% of the Canadian population in 2022. Over the last 10 years, the size of the federal public service in relation to the Canadian population fluctuated but it now represents a greater proportion of the Canadian population than in 2010 when it represented 0.84%. " So the PS went up .02% over a 12 year period and population went up over 6 million. Horror LOL

Not at all and sorry if it came out like that. I am saying the notwithstanding clause does not make laws and legislation. It is there to prevent actions from going to court. So yes, The government would have to change existing legislation and if provinces object, then the notwithstanding clause can be used.
-
I think you are wrong. It cannot halt immigration or birder crossing or refugees from being admitted. It cannot bring in "new" legislation. "The notwithstanding clause, or Section 33 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, gives parliaments in Canada the power to override certain portions of the charter for five-year terms when passing legislation." "Once invoked, section 33 effectively precludes judicial review of the legislation under the listed Charter sections. A section 33 declaration is only valid for 5 years. After this time period, it ceases to have any effect unless it is re-enacted." " Section 33 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms is commonly referred to as the “notwithstanding clause.” Its function is to prevent a court from invalidating a law that violates Charter provisions relating to fundamental freedoms (section 2), legal rights (sections 7-14), or equality rights (section 15). Provincial or federal governments can use section 33 when they want to pre-emptively shield a law from judicial invalidation on these specific grounds, or when they want to revive a law that has already been invalidated by a court on these grounds. While an invocation of section 33 expires after five years (as per section 33(3)), there is no limit on the number of times that the clause can be reused for a given law (section 33(4))." https://www.justice.gc.ca/eng/csj-sjc/rfc-dlc/ccrf-ccdl/check/art33.html
