Hey....he was PM for 10 years...elected by Canadians over the conservative leaders and policies year after year after year...then a new PM The PM security detail gets bigger every year...and so what? Again...you may not like what the libs did but most Canadians did as evidenced in the past 4 elections.

Trudeau won 3 elections so Canadians liked him a lot more than any conservative you guys put up LOL PP had a chance and even had a 28 point lead but blew that all to hell and the Canadian public saw he was a LOSER and did not even give him a chance and he also lost his own seat. Bottom line, the majority of Canadians are happy with what the Liberals have done for the past 10+ years and even voted them in for another 4+ years to come so, Canadians do know the concept of success. The "people who are right of the known universe" have not offered anything, in the form of leaders or programs to entice them to change.

If the conservatives had so many good ideas, why were they unable to get Canadians on board? If conservatives had any good leaders why have there been 4 of them in the past 4 elections? I think you overestimate the Coast Guard capability and operations. As I mentioned, have done a lot with the Coast Guard and a lot of it was hoist training and, as a military SAR, we supported them when they were ....above their head. I also think you overestimate what the coast guard personnel are willing to be trained for and do. Yes, they do have small arms onboard but not for offensive actions. They are a special operating agency of Fisheries and Oceans Canada to ensure safe and accessible waterways for Canadians. If you want the Coast Guard to do those things, it will require an entire operational change and legislation . There is a lot more to "arming" the Coast Guard than just giving the crewmen a gun. You know that very well. Installing weapons on the boats (as opposed to ships) and spending a lot of time to teach their usage. As well, Coast guard vessels are not warships and not intended to be. The Canadian Coast Guard is not and never has been and never will be anything like the American Coast Guard. They are lighthouse keepers and a few ice breakers and not much more. The are not and never will be warriors. I had a lot of dealings with the Coast Guard on West and East Coasts while in SAR. Their sailors joined the Coast Guard instead of the Navy because ht ye did not want to be warriors.
