  1. Israel continues to break international law and behave like a rogue state. Israel approves 1,500 more settler homes in east Jerusalem (Reuters) - Israel approved plans to build 1,500 more Jewish settler homes in east Jerusalem on Monday, an official said, days after provoking international protests against a project for another 3,000 such homes on land it captured in the 1967 Six-Day War. Washington had condemned the latest plans, for ultra-Orthodox neighborhood Ramat Shlomo, when they were published during a 2010 visit by U.S. Vice President Joe Biden. Palestinians see the settlements as obstacles to achieving independent statehood. The settlements have been condemned by many countries, and the latest project is slated to be built on a portion of West Bank land Israel annexed as part of Jerusalem, in a move never recognized internationally.
  2. It doesn't matter if it is difficult or it has value to different groups. It is illegally annexed by Israel and the settlements are considered illegal under international law.
  3. Except for a few examples, why do these mass school killings only happy in America? Why are there people who defend for it to continue?
  4. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you seem to be okay with continuing as is. That we should accept and expect that these mass shootings are going to happen once in a while.
  5. Isn't the problem that these people can so easily access tools that can facilitate mass murder? Do you agree that there is a problem with the status quo?
  6. The weapons used were assault rifles. 30 bullets in each magazine. He went through 3 of them. The weapons facilitated mass murder. Why are there restrictions when it comes to owning fighter jets with missiles? Why are there restrictions and red flags when it comes to buying materials that could facilitate creating explosions? What about chemicals? Time to be honest about a problem, instead of being so stubborn.
  7. Crazies come in different colours. I didn't mean to insult the white dudes. It just happens that the school mass murderers have all been crazy white dudes (except for that crazy asian dude). Let me try that again: Sometimes it's okay to let go of the past, if it doesn't make sense. When the second amendment was written, it took 15 seconds to load a bullet. Now, a crazy dude can off 10 people in that amount of time.

  9. That sounds like a sensible and a responsible view. =/ Was there a need for that or the gun porn?
  10. One of the reasons that the American culture is crumpling from within is that many Americans are in denial about their own problems. Their pride and stubbornness to look at themselves and criticize themselves is part of the problem.
  11. Even though it makes it easier for these things happen, I don't think the gun laws are the reason. The American culture is crumpling from within. The culture is sick and the system is broken. There is too much disconnect between people.
  12. Did Harper/Canadian government hire these people right before the xmas rush? If not, why do you want to give Harper praise?
  13. Well said. I just don't understand the selective and emotional outburst by people like peeves that are so void of facts and logic. Then, when it's spelled out for them, they respond with a stare and a return to the same illogical outburst.
  14. Unfortunately for you, I will give my opinion no matter how you feel. This propaganda article is written by the same person who wrote the article you posted. The irony of your comment is delicious.
  15. Iran used children for mine removal? I tried finding this info, but couldn't. Could you post a link?
  16. Pure gold. Will make cranky Pat and his fanboys weep.
  17. It's a good article and I agree with a lot of what he's saying. The Arab anger and sense of justice is hypocritical and selective. That said, Peeves, you are unfortunately selective and hypocritical. You spend majority of your time justifying Israeli actions. Many actions which are not justifiable. So it's a little difficult to sit down here and discuss the truth behind the article with you, when you are unable to be truthful and honest in other areas. I saw something remarkable the other day on here, while the usual "Israeli defenders" like jbg and american woman were here defending the new settlement plans, Bonam took an unexpected stance and spoke out against the settlement building and against the status quo. Not only did my respect for him increase, but it also made me evaluate my own approach to these debates. That I need to learn to resist from encouraging the debates from turning into mud slinging. This also takes us to an article written by Abdulateef Al-Mulhim: The world was full of joy and people were now optimistic that there can be a two-state solution and the world was hoping for a long lasting peace. At a time when the whole world was partying and full of joy, Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu spoiled the party. He announced the go ahead to build 3,000 new homes on occupied territories. Now the whole world said, well, here we go again. Many people, including Israelis, thought the building such settlements would be ab obstacle to any peace negotiations. On Dec. 3, I saw an article written by Professor Alon Ben-Meir who is born in Iraq and in his article, the professor said, “One would think that Prime Minister Netanyahu and his cohorts would one day come to their senses and realize that there are limits to which they can defy the international community, including the United States, without serious, if not perilous, repercussions for the state of Israel. As long as he is in power, Netanyahu has no intention, now or ever, to allow for the establishment of a functioning and independent Palestinian state. “His talk of a two-state solution is nothing but an empty slogan designed to mislead the international community, and tragically he is leading the Jews’ third commonwealth to a historic disaster akin to the destruction of the Second Temple. Those Israelis from the left and center of the political spectrum must wake up and stop him in his tracks before it’s too late. Otherwise, they will be judged as harshly and mercilessly as history will judge Netanyahu by not preventing the looming disaster from destroying the Jews’ last refuge.” The above part of my article is written by a professor who is well known for his drive to achieve peace in the Middle East, and had a taste of the agony when someone had to leave his home. He left his home in Baghdad and ended up going to school in Tel Aviv. link I am curious to see how much you agree with this article of his.
  18. More information about Israel and its treatment of Palestinians and how Israel destroys Palestinian water supplies: Since the beginning of the year, Israel has destroyed 35 rainwater cisterns used by Palestinian communities, 20 of them in the area of Hebron and the southern Hebron Hills. In 2011, Israel destroyed 15 cisterns, and in the preceding 18 months, 29. In many of these cases ancient cisterns were destroyed that had served the forefathers of the inhabitants of these communities. Recently, they have been restored with European assistance. The cisterns show the continuity of Palestinian habitation long before 1948. Usually, the communities whose cisterns were destroyed are a short distance from settlements and unauthorized outposts that enjoy a regular water supply. At the same opportunity the Civil Administration almost always destroys Palestinian tents, animal pens and food storage facilities. This information is based on data from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Rabbis for Human Rights and the Association of Civil Rights in Israel. The spokesman for the military Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories did not respond to Haaretz's queries about the number of cisterns destroyed over the past two years, or why the restoration of an ancient cistern is considered an offense. http://www.haaretz.com/opinion/drying-out-the-palestinians-1.483747
  19. The original video omits a lot of detail from the conflict but I don't think it does this to try to be sneaky or deceit people. Not like the other video posted in this thread. The omission of detail in the original video comes at the expense of both sides. I think it does a good job highlighting the major points while trying to cover 100 years in a few minutes. I see nothing wrong with showing that the Palestinians have been the oppressed and victims from the time the Zionist Organization decided to create a Jewish homeland in an already inhabited land by having migrants, mostly from Europe to systematically grab land and displace the inhabitants. Whatever reaction this act of injustice has caused is just that; a reaction. With or without the reactions, the displacement and the theft of land is the major cause of the problem.
  20. Even though I don't agree with his analysis of the original video in this thread, Moonlight Graham is a good contributer to this forum and takes the side of justice.
  21. The images were a response to DogOnPorch's image post. Despite your demand, I don't think there is a need to post names and dates. The photos are self-explanatory. Your inability to acknowledge to obvious about Israel's occupation is obvious. If you want to acknowledge what I posted, then I will take it back. Got it?
  22. Fantastic information. Thanks.
  23. This is another thing American Woman is in denial about and would rather people not talk about; Here is a sample of the treatment and torture of Palestinians by the IDF. The video goes back to the first uprising in the late 80's, early 90's. Warning: The following video contains graphic images. Quite ugly.
  24. Let's learn more about what American Woman denies is happening. How about a pregnant woman trying to get to the hospital: It's become quite the sick culture.
  25. You deny that those are Israeli children using weapons? Interesting.
