How will they blame Trump?
Venandi replied to gatomontes99's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Are you asserting that the quote, from a Russian News paper no less, is accepted reality and that the people who don't view Russian propaganda as reality qualify as and Trumpers because of it? Never mind, I don't actually believe that's what you're doing... Jorden Peterson made me write that. -
He/him she/her etc: what is the meaning?
Venandi replied to myata's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I thought the one above was OK but here's mine FWIW: Don't know, don't care, don't want to know, don't want to participate, none of my business... leave me alone and I'll return the favour. Morning Michael... how'd I do? That's about the best deal your'e going to get from me and in return, all I want is nothing. The burning question here is are you willing to give me.... absolutely nothing. If so, I'll even sweeten the deal by paying for the coffee and muffin it took to convince you that leaving me alone is actually the best possible deal for you. And since you can't actually force me to do anything anyway, why not take yes for an answer and enjoy the coffee? Will that be a blueberry, chocolate chip, or pumpkin muffin? I recommend the blueberry but fully support the choice you make, I'll even pay for it... you can bring Herb along if you want and I'll extend the same deal to him too. Just don't force me to eat those new cucumber muffins with broccoli frosting and a sprinkling of crickets to prove my sincerity... see how this works? -

In a delicious twist of irony, I believe he's quoting (actually misquoting) an article that appeared in RT (Russia Today)... the very agency some folks here were just accusing Jorden Peterson of taking a payoff from. Careful though, reading this will instantly morph you into a Russian asset. On the plus side "Moscow girls make you sing and shout." Proceed with caution... https://www.rt.com/news/610415-cybertruck-explosion-wakeup-call/ -
Off topic but worthy of inclusion here for all of the offenders in the crowd. Here's a link from RT that tends to support the point being made in that thread about the Tesla bombing. It's along the lines of what I suspected once we established that he was green Beret and familiar with explosives.... it wasn't an error based on inexperience, he was making a point. Exactly what I've been looking for... Go figure eh?

Context seems to be lacking here. The accusation was made by JT when he was asked about the effect and role of Russian disinformation in anti-vaccine messaging... keep in mind that bogus Russian funding was his excuse for seizing bank accounts. The idea was that RT (Russia Today) had provided some funding to a number of Bloggers and the like in support of their anti vaccine messaging. He simply used Peterson as an example of the type of programming IMO but perhaps it was directed at him personally as well (not sure about that and don't care enough to go looking). In any case, Peterson denied it... then again, so did all of the single mothers who contributed to the Go Fund Me effort and had their accounts seized... you'll have to decide for yourself who you believe, I already have though. In the meantime, here's a link to RTs website for today, like Al Jazeera I look at it occasionally. Does that make me a traitor? https://www.rt.com/news/ Did you peek? If so, you're just as guilty as Peterson. Since you're the one throwing stones maybe more so, you clearly know better... right? See how this works? Now imagine if I went on TV and doxed you as being Russia Today fan... and supporter. I bet I could even match up a few of your views with there views... and everyone you've ever insulted here would likely be happy to believe it.

How will they blame Trump?

Don't read the article. Read the headline and proceed directly to the comments below it: https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/hunter-muslim-rape-gangs-targeted-tens-of-1000s-of-poor-white-girls-as-authorities-ran-cover?tbref=hp Now, read the article and note the language, consider the timing of it... is it designed to generate the depth of emotion contained in the comments or is that a cynical reaction to the content, presentation and timing of it? It doesn't matter where you stand on this, it doesn't matter what you think or even what you know... the point is there are folks across the hall who are doing the same thing in equal and opposite measure. You get a taste of that right here. I happen to think we're sleep walking... time for dreamers to awaken IMO. With that I'll withdraw from the debate, I see it as futile anyway. -

There seems to be a lot of that going around. And there's a danger in overplaying that hand... a bit like spices in the stew. A little works well, some even like it spicy; but use too much and everyone notices. Go beyond that and normal people start gagging. It requires a level of discretion that simply doesn't exist in the land of make believe. The recipe has predictable results when over used, like mixing teenage boys with whiskey and adding car keys. Pretty easy to lose control of your own narrative and reach point where no one (of any stripe) will forgive an excuse that starts with ooooops. The "walk back" here, at least in terms of the threat assessment is a latent one... it's about awakening the sleeping giant IMO. If tit for tat reprisals for (say) ISIS inspired terrorism become a real thing then clearly crackers have the skill set and numbers to be force of reckoning. They won't be white supremacists though, they'll be citizens with a particular skill set who statistically happen to be mostly white, and they'll only be a threat to those with radical ideologies who are the purveyors of terrorism. Some might call it a limited version of civil war, but they certainly aren't going to articulate it that manner. I'm guessing that's (maybe / perhaps) what they mean by it though... either that or they really are crazy. When polarization is rampant, information is carefully managed, and nothing is as it seems on the surface of it, motive becomes the only tangible way of assessing intent. IMO of course... -

I think you're reading it wrong because you choose to. Don't make jumping to conclusions be the only exercise you get this week. I can't speak for others of course but for me it was the fact that he was a Green Beret with explosives training that peaked my interest... nothing to do with his (or my) political persuasion at all. As a result of that experience, the kaboom in question takes on a bit of significance because it seems like more of a statement than an effort with real intent behind it... had the intent actually been there the result would have been radically different. In other words, I'm suggesting that what I first thought was a lucky stars error on his part could now easily be considered innocuous by design... that makes the motive behind it intriguing, or at least it raises the possibility that it might be. Did he get that Tesla on purpose? Was it the first time he ever drove one? Maybe the answer is yes to both questions, he sent his ex a text saying he felt like batman driving around in it. That's either the mindset of a 10 year old or someone with a plan... I'd like to know which. Unless you consider it irrelevant by virtue of him being a Trump supporter that is... You too eh? Have either of you taken a moment to consider the advantage and utility of using rented autonomous vehicles for nefarious purposes? How about the ease with which human oversight protocols can be defeated? Apparently he was caught on traffic cams driving the same route earlier in the day... is there a save route function? Was the saved route function engaged at show time? What was the time interval between save and execute? Does it have a "return home" (RH) type function that can be executed remotely ? The point is there might be a few lessons here that transcend weak sister political rhetoric. Want to learn them or would you rather sit on a low hanging branch with a handful of sh&^. This stuff should actually scare you a bit... -
But that's clearly not the same as asserting that he's a Russian agent, or suggesting he's a racist because he had a picture taken at a rally with a known KKK wizard... I've seen some of those picture taking line ups and I'm not sure how you would police such things. But the point is that's what people will remember, and that's why that narrative gets pushed and not things like he said 37% faster when it was really 26.5%, or that he was actually talking about eggs instead of wholesale food prices etc etc and on and on. Interestingly enough, it was actually JT who claimed that Peterson had received funding from "Russia Today," there's a law suit pending over it too as I recall. Funny how he's so forthcoming with information that strengthens his own hand and so security conscious anytime it doesn't eh? The Nazi flag incident and unfounded assertions about Russian funding in support of the trucker protest are in the same basket. I'd wager that most Beagles who have sniffed the Steele file will sit down for JT's assertions too. When you see these type of assertions and they're based on open source reporting be suspicious, and remember that JT has access to far better information than that provided by the likes of CBC. In this case it was (IMO) circular. CBC got the information from the government and the government used the CBC's published story to justify the action it wanted to take in the first place... that's how I'd do it anyway. When reporters clearly don't ask obvious questions you and I would ask if we had the platform to ask them, you can assume something smells. That beagle's nose is 100 thousand times more sensitive than yours... imagine what he thinks of JT's BS.

You're actually only pointing out what someone else told you is true and you're doing that because you already believe it is. The best part is that you don't actually believe you're doing it for the reason you are. Actually, I take it back, the best part is that it doesn't even matter that you're doing it for that reason or whether you believe you are or not, success is measured simply in the fact that you are. That was the part that always used to trip me up but it's actually proven easier to deploy than I ever thought it would be.I remember thinking no, it's impossible, no one would ever buy such an ugly dog with such an overly large tail. Every time the concept of believability comes up I think of the NS wolf hoax and laugh. The mental image of a truck (with loudspeakers) driving around playing pre recorded wolf howls always brightens my day. The only thing funnier was the email chain that started off with "please tell me this wasn't you guys" once the cat (or wolf in this case) got out of the bag. Sorry... maybe you need a warped sense of humour to appreciate it as much as I do.

How will they blame Trump?

I may have been wrong to characterize it as a mistake, I'm a bit intrigued about the motive now too. Almost makes you think he wanted his planned suicide to make a point (of some sort), just enough of a BIP to hammer that point home but sufficiently muted to do it without too much damage or an overt risk of mass casualties. In some circles, this was one of the concerns about the development and refinement of self driving cars.... yes, there actually are introspective brooders who get payed to think about such things Prior to this incident though, Herb would have ridiculed that idea with a vengeance... now he probably thinks he was the first one to even consider it. In a week's time he'll want them banned and he'll be blaming Trump (and his buddy Musk) for allowing it all to happen. I do look forward to the first public screening of that new hit song "No Nay Nitrate No More" though. Before long the possibilities here may start intruding on the thoughts of people who previously penned the snark about conspiracy theorists. And when it does, there will be no shortage of thoughtful, introspective and brooding "MAGA Trumpers" asking "what did you think was going to happen?" There's an African Proverb (I'm about to butcher here) that suggests "the resolve to avoid an evil is seldom formed in advance of its arrival." -
I understand your point and normally I'd agree with you, then again, I also think virtually anyone who ever spent an hour doing access control (as a security guard) had a few valid questions about this. Open source reporting (after the fact) didn't change those questions, it simply added a WTF prefix to them. How a gunman could access a roof top within 150 metres of a presidential candidate (and then get off as many shots as he did) is contained in the same box. Open source reporting on that incident blew WTF right out of the water, no security training required... even deer hunters (who spend 2 hours a year at the range) were in awe. We actually need a new prefix now, WTF has been overcome by a level of incompetence so profound as to (almost) appear deliberate. IMO, the reporting served to make most of the people you refer to realize that the situation was actually worse than they originally imagined it to be. We could have an entire thread on the intelligence and threat assessments available before the incident, and another one on the thinking behind the (arguably) inadequate preparations made in the face of those assessments. And that's all before watching any video of the event itself.

Here's a duck that isn't duck... and it's even named after Herb: It's a Coot. This one happens to be American.

How will they blame Trump?

You'll know it's on when both sides start doing it. Maybe they'll start by targeting each other's organized protest and religious holiday gatherings. It's really on when you can begin to anticipate those tit for tat reprisals and crude methods begin to yield more sophisticated results (and are seen by bad actors to do so). The Tesla guy essentially created a shaped charge... but it was upwards, you won't see that mistake again IMO. This is low tech and high impact, it's cold, premeditated, and in many ways it's easier and more effective than the AR rampages "Herb And The Gun Muffins" have been singing about for years. If this is allowed to ferment a bit, I expect Herb and the boys will write a new folk song called... No Nay Nitrate No More." -

Nice try, it's more nuanced than that, actually I'd call it glaring... but that's just me. When intricate legislation is dropped the day following a tragedy, you immediately know two things: one, they've been sitting on that legislation for a while waiting patently (cynically and tactically) for a time to capitalize on a painful event (like vultures); and two, you immediately know who's behind the bill. You either glossed over this part and missed the point entirely, or you ignored the point and typed the first flippant answer that came to mind. I suspect it was the latter... -
Thanks, I usually get nothing more than a profound sense of sadness from it all.

I'm actually heartened by the fact you recognize it (in principle) as an information management technique. The next step is applying this newfound skill across the board in a manner that makes you look deeper into the cause / effect factors and discerning any possible agenda/ideology contamination that may be in play. Doing that over a period of time will refine the process for you, you'll begin to anticipate likely "wag the dog" scenarios before they happen, you'll recognize the walk back clauses deliberately incorporated (pre-deployment) and you'll even start to anticipate the unintended consequences of ill advised actions before they manifest themselves. Finally, you'll begin to distinguish between the efforts to mitigate damage done (after the fact) from the self serving efforts requiring mitigation in the first place. At that point you'll become appalled by the fact others don't do it as a matter of routine. You may even come to realize who indulges in these actions the most, why they do it, and the negative consequences that result from it.... caution though, that's when real disappointment will set in. Like any skill it takes time and effort to develop... I hope you resolve to continue your personal growth journey, it is New Years after all. -
Well, only a criminal would want to drive a quiet truck... right? I was going to tell Herb that if the police were ever to come to his house for any minor (summary type) criminal investigation (trespass, vandalism, minor theft, etc), his truck would be designated a domestic crime truck and be impounded immediately... he's too busy moving the garage though.
-
Hold on Herb, that doesn't go nearly far enough for those of us committed to keeping Canadians safe. If it has an automatic transmission you can't drive it at all, you must lock all of the doors and store it in a locked garage at all times until we decide to confiscate it (without compensation BTW)... and no, we aren't going to tell you when that will be or how it will be undertaken. Unless randomly decreed by OIC, you can still legally retain a truck with a standard transmission unless it has racing stripes measuring over 24.5 inches... that will convert your stock truck into a "stunting style truck," your gas tank must then be modified to hold no more than 10 litres of fuel. In addition, all gas must be drained daily and stored in a separate area. You can keep the gas in a separate container inside the garage though as long as it isn't in physical contact with the truck and is contained in a locked receptacle. Caution though, this has turned a number of law abiding citizens into criminals...., if your granddaughter doesn't have her drivers license yet she can't have access to the garage key, the truck key, or the gas container key. You will also be required to join an authorized "truck club" and provide evidence of membership with any application for registration renewal. Since you've retained the trucks original colour you're OK for the moment but should you decide to paint it red you will have to store it in a locked garage anytime it's not in use, in addition you can only drive it to and from work by the most direct route and are restricted to specially approved parking lots. We haven't even begun to consider time of day restrictions, driving through wilderness areas or even the distance between your truck and the nearest neighbour... you will have to move the garage 6 inches to the left if you want to keep it. Should you be needing a new truck I should probably warn you that we're planning to table engine displacement restrictions on all new/used truck purchases... we won't tell you what that displacement limit is going to be either, we want you to guess. Should you guess wrong, please ensure there is enough space next to the truck with the automatic transmission, you won't be able to drive the new one either.

By the sound of things, I'm guessing you don't want the bible stuffed down your throat. I'd also guess that you'd oppose mandatory payer meetings in schools, things like afterschool bible studies and secret baptisms without parental consent. You'd likely also oppose the idea of fining communities that refuse to set up a nativity scenes in the town square. Being called a Jesusphobe because of it wouldn't likely change your opinion either... you might even consider it a weak sister diversion or a blatant personal attack intended to silence you. Maybe you''d even come to resent the fact that you initially supported Christians in their effort to expand freedom of religion and now feel duped by how far they've pushed the ideology. If so, then welcome to the conservative party.

Here's an update on the incident: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_New_Orleans_truck_attack I think this will become an increasingly popular technique with bad actors, it's cruder, more effective and easier to deploy than the whole AR thing. Throwing in a couple of barrels of ANFO (for when you bog down) is likely next on the TTP list. The weapon of choice here was a Ford F150 Lightning... for some, the fact that it's likely the first carbon neutral mass casualty event in terrorism history will likely resonate.

My favourite quality in any opponent, of any stripe, in any scenario. The delicious part of that game is seeing the change of expression and body language... it's palpable and it's usually a two stage event, with an outside (unicorn level) possibility of a third: -those who see any kindness on offer as weakness and initially think they're winning because of it, quickly morphing into -those who know they're about to lose but have no choice but to continue, and then the unicorns -those who shake your hand and apologize for their inflammatory behaviour. I have yet to meet any unicorns other than those who sometime appear days after the fact and usually with an ulterior (and self serving) motive. One of my favourite quotes has been oft repeated (in one form or another) by every doorman at closing time: ...regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you. My personal translation has always been "do you really want what you seem to be asking for?

The very sort of thing that has created, fuelled and sustained the most monstrous of causes. The last chapter of A tale of Two Cities should be mandatory reading... "long lines of the new oppressors" always seems to translate into pushback with violence. Other than soldiers, few recognize or acknowledge its stealthy approach. When they ask "how did we get here?" the question is rhetorical and usually goes unanswered anyway. Sincere versions of that question are only asked by two groups: those who actually caused the problem and those who watched in silence and apathy as it developed, either hoping it would go away on its own or fearful of the cancel culture (of that time and place) which allowed lunatics with gas cans to wander freely. As Heinz would say, "there are no other kinds." As with most cancers, it rarely goes away by ignoring the symptoms.
