  1. The 2nd Amendment was written when the standard firearm was a smooth bore, muzzle loading flint lock with which a well trained soldier could only manage three rounds a minute. Even then I doubt there were 20% more guns than people.
  2. What is the difference between them demonizing a weapon and you using that as an excuse to do nothing? The facts are, the US is the only developed country that has an epidemic of mass shootings, it is the only country that allows gun ownership with almost no restrictions and it is the country that has by far the most guns per capita than every other country. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estimated_number_of_civilian_guns_per_capita_by_country Wills and life insurance are not causes of deaths, neither are any of the other examples you list.
  3. So what. Are you going to do anything to stop all these mass killings or not? My guess is not.
  4. You really think the victims or their families care whether it was a hand gun or semi auto rifle used to kill? Carry on crazy. Life insurance won't keep you alive. You don't need it, you will be dead.
  5. So why do you need a gun? I've never heard a shot fired where I live either.
  6. I don't know anyone who has failed it. https://ottawafirearmsafety.ca/pal-application/ Do you live in a "hood"? We have gang bangers too, mostly using guns smuggled in from the US. Mexico estimates 2000 firearms a day are smuggled in from the US. Even if it is only half that it is a ton of guns. You are plague on your neighbours.
  7. It isn't difficult for a Canadian to get a gun, after they take a course, write a test and undergo a security check. Any law abiding citizen can do it. Have an nice day shooting up your schools, bowling alleys and restaurants etc.
  8. Iceland. #1 when it comes to women’s equality. Many other countries are ahead of the US when it comes to women’s equality but you very rarely see their men committing mass murders. As a matter of fact, the rights of women are currently under attack in the US. F**k me, do as I say woman or I will go out and massacre people is about as sick as it comes.
  9. Women not having to submit themselves to men is a reason for men to commit mass murders. That’s sick.
  10. You really don't listen very good. I don't think guns should be banned. I'm not in favour of doing so in my own country but you Americans are insane. https://www.npr.org/2023/10/29/1209340362/mass-shootings-halloween-tampa-chicago-atlanta
  11. The universe is 14 billion years old although new research indicates it could be double that. The earth is 4.5 billion years old.
  12. I don't think the time it takes the earth to orbit the sun or the rate of earth's rotation has changed much in the last 6000 years.
  13. How does that make the US different from any other country? The US obsession with guns is certainly cultural and what sets it apart from other developed countries.
  14. Why do you feel the need to be such an A hole? It is obviously compensating for something. Oh well, back on ignore.
  15. Our local police have had C8's for over ten years. Your link is seven years old. The low muzzle velocity of a handgun would mean a slug would be not be carrying a lot of energy at 500 yards even if you could hit something at that range. An AR is far more lethal at that range and the rate of fire using a bump stock would also be higher. A 9mm handgun slug is packing just over 100 ft lbs of energy at 500 yards, a .223 slug from an AR is packing about 1500 ft lbs.
  16. Who said that? What are you trying to say? Why do they have mass shootings at all? They are extremely rare in other developed countries, they are only an epidemic in the US where handguns and military grade rifles are available to just about anyone. US gun controls are a bad joke. Federal background checks are just a data base check based on data provided by states, they only apply to dealers and if they aren't processed in 48 hours the gun gets sold anyway. A person can buy a gun privately with no checks at all. It would be laughable if it wasn't such a cruel joke.
  17. Guns themselves aren't to blame, it's a society that allows anyone access to military grade firearms.
  18. But they aren't so it is a bogus position to maintain that they are responsible for what this guy did.
  19. I've never said the problem is unsolvable, we have to solve it, just that it will take a variety of technologies and energy sources to replace fossil fuels. Hydrogen has its own issues like the extremely low temperatures required to keep it liquid and embrittlement because the H2 atom is so small it can penetrate apparently solid materials. Hydrogen will be suitable for some applications, batteries for others. Both will need sources of electrical energy either to produce the hydrogen fuel or to store in a battery. Synthetic fuels will also be necessary in applications where hydrogen and batteries aren't viable. I don't believe there is a single silver bullet that can replace fossil fuels and replacing them is a more complicated problem than many would like to admit.
  20. I have? I didn't make it personal by calling someone a liar, up until then it was just a disagreement. CdnFox can't handle disagreements so he has to call people liars.
  21. Not really. Cops don't carry carbines in their cars because their side arms are good enough. My son is a cop and I have fired his Glock and a Baretta 9MM at a police range. You can't hope to do the same thing with a hand gun as you can with a rifle. Barrel length is everything when it comes to accuracy. The longest Glock barrel is 6 inches, the shortest legal AR barrel is 16 inches, most are 20". The 20" AR also has double the muzzle velocity of a 6" 9MM Glock. No comparison. Any handgun is a short range weapon, even in skilled hands. The Vegas shooter killed 60 and wounded over 400 at a range of just under 500 yards. Completely impossible with a hand gun.
  22. Perdue Pharma made billions flogging OxyContin to Americans, supposedly saving them from pain. That didn’t work out too well either.
  23. I don't know why anyone has to believe in a lot of the obvious nonsense in the bible in order to believe in a god.
