you can't kill an idea fool's errand

well the woke millennials who support confederation will actually be the very ones who tear it down in a woke outrage mob they'll just have no clue they are doing it, and will lament it's downfall they'll destroy a lot of other things in the process but at least they'll take confederation with it lulz

the provinces would wage less trade wars against each other if they didn't have to hold onto each other's baggage when dealing north-south not being in confederation would simultaneously boost trade both north-south and east-west confederation is an albatross, only good for doing things that aren't worth doing

indeed, but you are too quick to jump to the conclusion that this is occuring if someone merely disagrees with you hence you accusing me of supporting the murder of Muslim families in another thread just because some others are using an overly broad brush to paint Muslims with doesn't mean you should use an overly broad brush to paint critics of Islam with don't stoop to their level

wood used to be the number one fuel source in the world prior to fossil fuels taking that spot this lead to heavy deforestation, particularly in Europe ever since the fossil fuels took over as that fuel source since the industrial revolution, forests in Europe have been rebounding the first to start using fossil fuels heavily were also the first to dial back the deforestation significantly this is common historical knowledge that obviously is not well known in "environmentalist" circles that are demonizing fossil fuel usage many real environmentalists are well aware of these historical facts, but they are not the public faces of the environmental movement, the lefties have that on lock -
if mistreatment of natives by some white people means all white people are collectively guilty, then why do you get a pass? if you get a pass, then why do many who believe in these "fascist" religions, not get the same pass? why should your beliefs not be banned, but those of the religious should be and who appointed you the thought police?

there are billions of Muslims many Muslims aren't associating with the barbaric beliefs held by other Muslims, simply the belief in the same god they do not view the two as inseparably linked to the point where they have to throw the baby out with the bathwater, just to disassociate from the bad apples they don't think the bad apples should have the monopoly on defining what it is to follow Islam or be a Muslim, just because some people think the entire brand is sullied by association with bad apples who claim to be the true believers and misguidedly believe the false claims of the bad apples

indeed and I have no disagreement with that rather obvious fact I would add the caveat that the source of Islamic extremism being inherently Islamic in origin is only true in part MH does make a good point when he points to geopolitics being part of that mix, though he takes the assertion too far to shift too much of the blame from the cultural underpinings that are inherently Islamic and problematic the British guerilla warfare that brought down the Ottoman's straight from T.E. Lawrence and Japanese kamikaze culture, filtered through an Islamic lens, clearly are large building blocks of the strain of Islamic fundamentalism that is Wahhabism Wahhabism in particular punches well above it's weight, relative to it's adherents population as compared to wider Islam at large, in the Islamic terrorism game, to the point where they are the face of it

when the "environmentalists" demonize the free market and claim the only acceptable solutions are centrally planned boondoggles then they are clearly just leftists masquerading as environmentalists for branding purposes and care more about economic control than they do about the environment they also make real environmentalists look bad by association and sully the brand -

when I say Hamas uses human shields I am referring to them firing rockets from locations that are chosen to maximize the amount of civilians that will be hit once Israel bombs their rockets to stop them from firing at them to maximize collateral damage for PR purposes instead of firing rockets from areas where minimal civilians are located to minimize collateral damage to make Israel look like the bad guys indiscriminately bombing civilians when really it was Hamas who put the civilians in the crossfire intentionally if Israel doesn't retaliate, the civilians have been successfully used as a shield from which to attack Israel with impunity, encouraging further attacks knowing they won't risk heavy civilian casualties if Israel does retaliate, the collateral damage is used to make them seem like monsters to the uninformed, when schools, hospitals and residential areas are hit in order to take out the rockets

Many of you make great points about some of the troubles with Islam, Islamic nations, Islamic culture and many Muslims around the world to the point where I don't have much to add but since MH is unable to articulate a well reasoned argument for some of his few stronger points I'll do it for him so as to not make the conversation such a one sided beatdown I'll steelman his poorly articulated kernels of truth, pulling the needle out of the haystack, so to speak to provide more balance and nuance to the conversation that MH isn't capable of this way y'all will have a strong differing perspective to debate in order stay sharp instead of getting soft easily attacking a weak argument instead it's not what you take, it's who you're taking it from, you feel me? how do you intend to run with wolves come night and all Omar knows anyways..... Islam is not a monolith, Muslim's are not a monolith Individuals should be judged on their own merits, not by their group identity, or the beliefs held by a large part of a group they identify as many followers of Islam have barbaric beliefs but not all a larger percentage of Muslim's may agree with barbaric beliefs than members of other religions but individual Muslim's can be as against those barbaric beliefs as the most ardent critics of the religion, culture, nations and people some Muslim's are perfectly compatible with living harmoniously in western nations, some Muslim's are extremely incompatible with living harmoniously in western nations, and there are some Muslim's who fall somewhere in between there being more bad apples in the Islam barrel relative to many other barrels, should not be grounds to throw out all the good apples in the barrel too painting with an overly broad brush is not necessary to properly critique certain aspects of Islam, Islamic nations, Islamic culture or Muslim's themselves
