Clearly Canadians are over-mothered by the state. They generally want to be told what to do if it means walking off a cliff. This is what happens when people stop thinking for themselves and forget how hard-won freedom is. The citizenry are now watching their government literally strip away rights, but they won’t question government. Eyeball, Moonbox, Jack9000, and a few other recent posters will eat whatever shit government doles out and fear any opposition to the government narratives purveyed on government-funded media. They’ll mock peaceful protesters who get their heads kicked in by government if government says it’s for public safety. I think the Liberals will probably get re-elected and the increasingly enslaved population will pat themselves on the back as they lose rights. The vax passports and testing requirements are the cruel joke on Canadians. People are realizing too late that their own government is keeping them hemmed in like any communist dictatorship. I’m only in Canada for my kids and work at this point. I don’t like it here now. I need to be in a free society. Listening to posters on here rationalize government oppression and ridicule the opposition just confirms why I’m losing faith in the Canadian nation-state. -
You’re right of course that there are many ignorant posters on here relying on government bought legacy media. The collusion between big tech and government is destroying democracy. Look at what’s happening to Kim Iverson:

Will The Gesundheitspass Actually Be Scrapped?
Zeitgeist replied to WestCanMan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Trudeau is holding onto them. My guess is that another crisis will be manufactured soon to justify continued unconstitutional controls over the population. I take that stance until I see the Nazi health purity pass removed. I don’t trust our government because they’ve proven themselves to be an oppressive anti-democratic force. -
You’re so easily manipulated it’s ridiculous. You would’ve been cheerleading all the increased restrictions on Jews in 1930’s Germany.

Will The Gesundheitspass Actually Be Scrapped?
Zeitgeist replied to WestCanMan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Well both are wrong. The Indian Act and the whole reserve system is racist, apartheid-like policy. Yes it’s been reformed but it’s still two-tier citizenship. The problem is that many Indigenous want to keep the devil they know rather than scrap it, because it does provide financial incentives tied to ethnic identity. Unfortunately, Indigenous affairs are very fraught and hard to untangle without upsetting people. Indigenous will have to make the changes to policies that impact them. The Nazi health purity pass is also immoral, but the public has to demand its removal. For some reasons, perhaps defeat, exhaustion, fear, tribalism, etc., the government is getting away with maintaining this oppressive policy, even after its mounted police trampled an Indigenous disabled woman who protested the vaccine mandates. How much regard does our government really have for Canadians? -

Our government presents no vision of greater freedom, living standards, and a better world. They use fear to cow people into submission to unconstitutional policies. This isn’t about left versus right anymore, or rather, it’s foolish to pretend that the Liberal-NDP government is liberal democrat, lessez-faire, or standing up for working people. The government is self-serving, detached from working people, and elitist. The problem is, where do we find a solid opposition that won’t simply be written off as either another iteration of the Liberal narrative or a racist-fringe-misogynist group with unacceptable views? I’m not sure a real opposition can win enough support to defeat the government. Our population has walked into collectivist, Internationalist totalitarianism with a youthful looking PM who seems to be able to get the public to overlook democratic “slippage”. Well it’s a lot more than slippage, but look over here! Putin bad! Get behind the war effort! -

Yup this is how our government operates. They’ll use an unjust law to destroy their political opponents. Anyone who doesn’t see this now is asleep. There’s no scientific or reasonable justification for vaccine mandates and passports. The government is making an example of people. Disagree with unjust fascist policies and you will be de-platformed, charged, and humiliated. ”Do we make space for these people?” J. Trudeau ”They have unacceptable views.” J. Trudeau -
You seem intent on bringing race to the discussion. Is anyone on here advocating racist ideas? I value different races and cultures. My only condition on any cultural or ideological influences is that no one seek unconstitutional or oppressive policies. ”An injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” M. L. King Racism exists and must be called out when we see it. We must also watch that false accusations of racism are called out, because sometimes that accusation is used to discredit valid concerns. I very much saw this in how our government painted the protesters of mandates with the racist brush. It’s like McCarthyism seeing communist threats everywhere or the people of Puritan Salem seeing witchcraft everywhere. It’s very much about stoking fear to punish those who seem to fall outside your in-group.
-
We’ve learned that there’s no outside to the Liberal Party in Canada. Any forces that run counter to official narratives are deemed racist-fringe-misogynist. That’s the game. Demonize, and if you can get away with it, criminalize the opposition. The actions of our government in recent months are unprecedented in their level of overreach. We’ll see what the civil liberties legal action can do. Much legal action afoot, but the denial and whitewashing are pervasive.
-
Much of the legal action is actively underway, as the Act and protests are recent, and the Nazi health purity pass continues to be enforced federally. The problem we have in Canada is that our PM has acted in such an undemocratic, unconstitutional manner that it’s hard to imagine having to wait for an election to change government. I’m surprised the Governor General hasn’t dissolved Parliament to force an election. Ukraine has been a useful distraction for the federal government. That the NDP is propping up totalitarian rule and working against the interests of workers won’t be forgotten. We’re basically witnessing a government trying to maintain a stranglehold over the people. Of course it’s in the name of “safety”. They’re using fear to keep the people in line, an old trick of dictators throughout history.
-
You don’t know, actually. There are cases before the courts and an Ontario judge has already granted a parent’s right to refuse a vaccine for her child. Peckford has a big challenge before the court. The use of the Emergencies Act is also under review. I’ll only agree with you insofar as the courts are generally aligned politically with the Liberals, which is a huge problem. The judge who ruled against Tamara Lich was a former Liberal candidate. Not exactly blind justice. Also, our press, which relies heavily on government funding, is hardly a free press anymore. These facts are becoming increasingly clear to Canadians.

I don’t know what you’re arguing, Hardner. You’re illustrating why Polievre isn’t some right-wing anti-immigrant politician. That’s the point. He wants to elevate people to their rightful place in the economy. Engineers or doctors should be working in those fields, not forced to drive taxis their whole lives. -
The Charter of Rights and Freedoms continues to be violated by our federal government. You cannot take away citizens’ rights. Vaccine mandates do this, as they restrict movement and the ability to work. Our constitutional freedoms can only be suspended under an emergency. There’s no public health emergency anymore, yet the federal government refuses to even discuss removing vaccine mandates and passports. Why? No one can honestly say that this is an accident, as we just saw Trudeau bring in the Emergencies Act to crush protests against vaccine mandates. Why? The only reasonable conclusion I can come to is that the federal government wants to reserve the right to control your movements and remove constitutional freedoms based on whatever criteria it wants to add to your digital ID vaccine passports. This is straight out of the WEF and WHO playbooks. It’s not even a secret anymore. It’s not a conspiracy. Our federal government has handed authority to international bodies, completely abdicating Canadian democracy and sovereignty. Of course this is all crazy nonsense, right? Why would we ever let such a thing be done to Canadians? Trudeau has maintained vaccine mandates and passports, and he won’t even discuss their removal. Actions speak louder than words. Canada is well on its way to authoritarianism.

You’re so off base that I don’t know where to begin. I wasn’t a Trump supporter but it’s obvious that the world was a better place under Trump than it is now. There were no wars and he had the respect of Putin and leaders that are posing a direct threat to Western Europe. Iran is now threatening the US in Iraq as Biden tries to hammer out another nuclear deal. China is looming over Taiwan. NATO is getting embroiled in Ukraine without a clear sense of direction when there can only be a political solution there. The Freedom Convoy was an attempt to push back against unconstitutional and oppressive vaccine mandates that have created a two tier society in Canada and stripped citizens of rights. If they and their supporters didn’t push back against government, I’m not sure the provinces would’ve removed mandates. The federal government still hasn’t removed them. The federal government is working against the interests of the people. With regard to Pierre Polievre, he would probably be a strong federal leader who would restore our freedoms and lower the cost of living. There’s nothing that he has said that warrants fear. I fear our current federal government’s overreach. You say strange things that I don’t think most Canadians would support, thankfully. -

The Canadian federal government treats its own population like slaves. End all testing requirements and vaccine passports immediately. They are unconstitutional and create two tiers of citizenship. Travel has become such a hassle that people are discouraged from doing it. It’s unhealthy and oppressive. Elderly people struggle to navigate the system, but we all suffer because of these arbitrary overbearing rules. Canada is not very free anymore. I think it’s time for provinces to seriously consider secession, because the federal government works against the interests of citizens. https://apple.news/AlzVl_tf3RimKiRs6ZOyWUA -

But Russia wants all the western goodies too. The answer is to win culturally. The voice of freedom always wins. -

That’s very interesting. Tell us about the Maoist Revolution. What about the Cultural Revolution. Uighers. What is to be done about the sins of the past? We must learn from each other the lessons of history! It’s always been about liberty and the human spirit. Support that and you can’t lose. -

What does that mean? Quite a lot of hyperbole. Did you steal Indigenous cultures? I consider myself a protector of cultures. -

We just have to let the virus spread. It’s mild. If you’re vulnerable be extra careful. There’s no excuse for vax passes and lockdowns. Those are about control. -

Actually Canada has a lot of rich culture, including over 200 Indigenous groups, Acadiens, Québécois, Métis, Scot and Irish in Cape Breton and Newfoundland, Loyalists, etc. The colonial aspects of Canada are a curse and a strength, depending on how you view our links to the Crown. I think it’s a strength, but Trudeau tends to emphasize new “post-national” non-identity, which plays into China’s and Internationalist Marxism. It’s mostly vapid nihilism that doesn’t represent the interests, cultures, or constitutional rights of Canadians. -

Keep your fascist ideas out of Canada. If you want to wear a space suit and hide in your basement, knock yourself out, but don’t impose your arbitrary controls on citizens. You got to oppress people for two years. Take your wins and go home. -

No you don’t have a clue what’s happening. Russia could’ve blown Ukraine into submission very quickly if that was their intent. They’ve been quite surgical in their actions. Your take is feeding the fire. It doesn’t matter. Throw money and weapons at Ukraine, lengthen the suffering of civilians, put weapons in the hands of extremists and dangerous actors (including newly released prisoners), and perceive Putin as a madman. Putin laid out Russia’s concerns before the invasion, which were ignored. It’s amateur hour as Iran becomes aggressive with the US in Iraq, China looms over Taiwan, and Trudeau shoots his mouth off about democracy after using martial law against protesters and with a military that has never been weaker. It’s absurd. Now we’re going to have a completely unnecessary revision of cold and hot war, but Biden knows how to go “toe to toe with Putin.” Well now NATO has to strengthen. Canada will have to expand her military. Basically the world just became a lot more dangerous. -

Canada’s democratic “slippage” is gross. Our federal government is basically setting arbitrary controls on citizens that make travel a bureaucratic nightmare. I don’t know who the government is trying to impress, unless of course this isn’t about science at all. I think it’s a power grab and I don’t trust our government. https://apple.news/Acv9sVnOwSYa2TPQeKIT3oA
