1. Yes, and when the supply of taxis goes down because it has become unprofitable for all operators, what do you think happens to the supply? What do you think happens to the price? It would be like saying we need to shut off all nuclear power and coal power and only allow wind power. Do you not understand wind power, who uses surge pricing is going to get a whole lot more expensive? Only a short sighted buffoon would be incapable of seeing that price will drastically increase, as it is currently doing with hydro. You don't believe that, but then again, no person in professional or regulated society has a special skill that cannot be learned. You can teach a child in India to do surgery. You can teach most skills, they aren't special, none of the professions use to be regulated, not even doctors. Its funny because doctors often just plug in a list of symptoms into a computer in coming up with a diagnosis of a patient
2. Why don't rich arab states like kuwait, qatar, saudi arabia, dubai, the emirates, jordan and so on absorb their own arab kind. Why is it we should? A country like Saudi Arabia could easily absorb 1 million syrian refugees and it make no difference and no assimilation issues.
3. It depends, there are the renters but there are also owner operators and then there are people like former mayor Mel Lastman who own 30 plates and drive none of them. Uber is not so much hurting the big guys like mel lastman, he is really killing the owner operators. The owner operators have to comply with all the laws, regularly pay out fees to the city and taxes which add up to 10k a year, use mechanics to pass 4-yearly inspections which include winter tires of certain brands not used. The city has always made the cost high, but traditionally money could be made. You cannot just stop paying because there are by-law enforcement officers who have the power to arrest you for driving a cab without a license. Before Uber, these people were called gypsy cab drivers and usually could not meet the strict licensing requirements. And they would often be fined or arrested. By law enforcement officers are going after uber, but they are far fewer than the police. The police are waiting for the outcome of the people who have already been charged. And it is tough, because a good lawyer might argue entrapment after conviction. So it is not the easiest crime to go after and win. As for using Uber, well, the police could simply sub-poena Uber's database or that of a driver they catch, then go back and find all the customers on his email list, then go and see all the drivers they ever used, and catch them in a massive drag net. But again, the police will only devote these type of resources if they are certain they can get convictions. What is the point of spend $10million to have the guy get off in court with little chance of conviction. Also what do all you Uber people think is going to happen in the long run? Uber uses surge pricing. What happens when the Taxi renters become Uber drivers, the small owner operator plate holders get financially ruined, the large ones like beck just imitate uber and there are no taxi drivers left? Do you really think that Uber price will not rise significantly, when you eliminate all the competition and its an on demand pricing? Companies like Uber are smart, they do a practice call dumping. They will sell goods at a discount to destroy local competition, and when there is no more competitor, they put in real premium pricing because there is no alternative and someone isn't going to just launch 1000 cabs overnight. Uber is not good for civilians in the long run
4. They do, you get a driver trained in defensive driving with no criminal record who is subjected to a host of laws and by laws and a commission and regulatory body with over 10,000 regulations. Taxi drivers are some of the most regulate people in the city of Toronto. Do you understand how quickly a car being used to drive around all day breaks down and how much repairs it needs. Uber drivers do not have to have winter tires. They do not have to have cpr or a defibrilator in their vehicle, they do not have first aid kits, nor training in first aid, nor a real criminal background check(there is no person checking in real life). Uber drivers do not have training in de-escalation with the public. Uber has no mandated number of accessible vehicles; Anyone who doesn't think about public saftey need not look farther than California driver who pepper sprayed a passenger.
5. No, it isn't we have free market in canada with regulations and licensing. It would be like saying there is no free market in automobiles because you need a license to drive one. Such a view is incorrect.
6. I understand it could in theory limit the number of cars on the road, but there are a lot of taxis. Uber certainly could buy them up. The problem is our entire society has licensings on any profession or job, whether it is doctor, lawyer, engineer, plumber, tradesman, bus driver, truck driver etc. There was a time when no licenses were required, but the public complained heavily about it so that is why licensing was invented. It wasn't made out of the blue. It also makes a further question, where do we draw the line?
7. Why doesn't Uber just become like Beck and buy a bunch of plates on the free market and run its own fleet and comply with the law like everyone else?
8. It certainly can be done, there are different ways of achieving justice and I'd be open to more than just one way.
9. Some of this seems like you are just disagreeing for being disagreeable, even where I agree with you! Use google. Look up all the lenders who have plead guilty to discriminating against african americans, it shouldn't be hard to find discrimination they face today. If you can truly find nothing, let me know. This is not the case at all. Even white immigrants got to homestead in canada and the usa. Go outside the cities, you'll find millions of whites living on multi-generational land from homestead days. This isn't just something 10 million people have. They may well dilute the wealth through having too many kids, however it doesn't change the fact, trillions of dollars of homestead land given out by the government. "93,000,000: Estimated number of homesteader descendants alive today." http://www.nps.gov/home/learn/historyculture/bynumbers.htm 197 million non-hispanic whites in the usa. This is almost 50% of the white non-hispanic american population. In Canada, you'd have an even larger percentage, because you have more whites occupying a larger area of land. Throw on the VA bill, fha, welfare, min wage, white race preference for admissions of university and jobs, which all started out as white only or heavily restricted to whites in the 1950s and continued into the modern era, and it simply proves the point. they still find a white sounding name gets 15-50% more calls back with the same qualifications than a african american or chinese one. Provide evidence that this is true. Show me that racism is fiction. Show me evidence rich originals do not face race based discrimination. Because denial of home buying, loans, business loans, these aren't poor originals being denied, it is rich and upper middle class ones. Not at all similar, they have never faced the type of raced based vitriol and hatred where there mere election caused people to hate them and protest. bush, Clinton and Reagan were attacked on their policies, not their race, religion, or nationality. White privilege doesn't skip over the head of poor whites, interesting how the so called poor white hillbillies sit on hundreds of acres of land per person in Appalachia. money can't buy you out of racism in north america. We can't change the past, we can correct past injustices.
10. It is true that discrimination of the past doesn't casually prove, discrimination today. I believe rather discrimination of today proves discrimination of this era proves discrimination in this era. There is more than enough discrimination in the last few decades against original people to not even have to invoke the past of hundreds of years ago. The other issue is the past and present are inextricably linked as it regards to racism. people who are racist today aren't racist in a vat. Racist policies of today, were constructed in the past. The homestead act for instance gave hundreds of millions of acres and trillions of wealth to white homesteaders just for being white. Those white people still sit on that land today, worth trillions. You cannot de-link white wealth of today, with that racist policy of the past. Wealthy families provide an advantage within their own race. The whole point of racism is to ensure that upwardly economic mobile blacks do not pass poor whites. Strange how you have no issue calling Obama's children, knowing they and their father have been catching racist hell from millions of whites for almost the last 10 years, privilege but have an issue with the term white privilege. Obama's kids are privilege compared to poorer originals, but compared to whites, they will still be racially profiled, they will still face work place racism, they will still face racism in the classroom from bitter clingers, they will still have to pay more on all of their loans. Rich and upper class originals catch more white racism, not less. Poor whites are not in the same boat as poor originals. Whites get white privilege, and no amount of money can get you that. It is impossible to ignore group dynamics because the policies of the past made everything group based. We must first fix passed wrongs before we can move beyond group policies.
11. Gaps alone do not establish unfairness, rather gaps with a certain history and ongoing practice of racial discrimination seem to. I do wonder what would be the underlying factor you think isn't racial?
12. Only white people get the privilege in our society to be seen as an individual and not a group. a muslim in an airport, a chinese trying to rent, an african canadian walking by the cop doesn't get that advantage. You might not have gotten free land, but maybe your parents aren't telling you. I'd have to know your specific background to honestly answer the question. If your parents immigrated to canada last year, well dominion's land act was over so they probably didn't get free land, however they probably did get lower interest rates than if they were another race and more money to borrow. If you care to share your family's history and immigration timeline so I can give a better response go ahead, and if not, that is fine too. It just makes it harder for me to explain it to you in your circumstance.
13. Don't worry white men will soon be official victims and thus entitled to all the victim goodies society has to offer like affirmatve action, racial profiling and police beatings.
14. yeah like trillions of dollars of government gifted land and handme downs and hand outs. No single group in society has been given more from the government than white males. Literally they were handed out free land or near free land from the government, and in addition to that they were given white only immigration, and white only special low interest loans so they could buy houses and build equity even when they couldn't afford the said house. The so called impoverished uneducated white people sit on hundreds of trillions of dollars of land, not that they paid for but that was given to them by the government, for no other reason than being white aka Homestead act. Boo hoo.

I agree North Korea is the worse country to live in but I don't see how it is more corrupt. I've heard of Zeus but Zeus is an Egyptian god called Amun whose name was hellenized and borrowed by the Greeks. Infact Zeus was originally called Zeus Ammon, and the Ammon was dropped over time. "Herodotus takes great advantage of the opportunity to hammer down his belief that the Greeks adopted many features and figures of the Egyptian pantheon: The names of nearly all the gods came to Greece from Egypt. I know from the inquiries I have made that they came from abroad, and it seems most likely that it was from Egypt, for the names of all the gods have been known in Egypt from the beginning of time, with the exception (as I have already said) of Poseidon and the Dioscuri--and also of Hera, Hestia, Themis, the Graces, and the Nereids. I have the authority of the Egyptians themselves for this.14 That Herodotus asserts the probability that the "names of nearly all the gods came to Greece from Egypt" is not surprising, since Greek tradition held Egypt to be one of the worlds oldest civilizations and often ascribes to them the origin of many cultural and technological elements. They also told me that the Egyptians first brought into use the names of the twelve gods, which the Greeks took over from them, and were the first to assign altars and images and temples to the gods, and to carve figures in stone.15" [http://i.imgur.com/gDsSZ.jpg] [http://i.imgur.com/QKwn9.jpg] Hargeisa [ [http://www.longlivesomaliland.com/IMAGES/DEERO%20MALL.jpg] [http://www.slnnews.com/snn/wp-content/uploads/image3102.jpg] As messed up as Somalia is by Islamist if you can stay out the south you can probably live a decent life. The real problem is the north and central has essentially seperated from the south (where the psycho muslims and central government is in mogadishu), they issue their own passports and do not let those from the south in to keep out the psycho muslims, so those from the south cannot move into the north because they have no passports.

I don't deny the scientific method, I am simp;y saying you are using it in an erroneous manner. It would be like me saying golfing, something we all agree exist, is the scientific method. It makes no sense, this is what you have done. That is why I said you were improperly using the term. It looks to me you just do not know what it means. I use the studies as proof of white privilege, the studies which document its existence like the one the op quoted. You have no counter study, you just cry bias and play the race card.

Except you haven't done that, you merely said bias and cried like a baby rather than point me to peer reviewed studies where it says no white privilege.
18. When the hell did we break Syria? Syria was a failed state failing long before America even went into Iraq. It had a long time dictator with the 3rd largest stock piles of chemical weapons who used them on his own people. IS expanded into syria and fought a war they were losing so USA and Russia and Turkey all got involved. USA asked for help with bombing and of course we did. We can best help those people over there, we cannot let all of Syria come here. The best way to help syrians would be to get out of syria and let assad keep on ruling. If we throw out IS and then throw out assad it will just be a new crazy islamic group. How can we help people in Syria by letting them here, we can air drop them guns and bomb to kill ISLAMIC STATE, but these people are cowards, if they won't fight to the death to defend their own country and culture from fasco-muslims they certainly won't fight for ours, so do we really want cowards coming here to take advantage of us economically?
19. Fair, what about east asian refugees? or iraqi. Syria does not have oil. and ISIS is in Iraq, Palestine is middle eastern, has more refugees. Somali is muslim too and so is Sudan both of which thereore could be considered middle eastern. And wasn't the war in darfur, the genocide quiet high profile? Didn't george clooney go there and it make national headlines. Where was the demand to take in all these sudanese refugees. 1 Palestine[24] 6,600,000 2 Syria[25] 4,086,760 3 Iraq 1,428,308 4 Somalia 1,077,048 5 Sudan 500,014 6 Democratic Republic of the Congo 491,481 7 Myanmar 414,626 8 Colombia 395,949 9 Vietnam 337,829 10 Eritrea 251,954 11 China 190,369 12 Central African Republic 162,862 13 Serbia 161,671 14 Côte d'Ivoire 154,821 15 Unknown 145,048 16 Turkey 139,779 17 Sri Lanka 136,617 18 Angola 128,664 19 Russia 109,785 20 Rwanda 106,833
20. In their view it does, don't you get this guy is one of those French Canadians, hell they practically founded the country and are still calling themselves french canadians instead of just Canadians and they want to separate from canada. Don't you understand immigrants who don't integrate are learning it from people like Trudeau who have been here for over 400 years and still won't integrate? They still view themselves as immigrants and hold dual citizenshiip like Mulclair with France. These people do not even truly see themselves as Canadians. They are the Canadians of convenience, just visiting, like MIchael Ignatieff.
21. Its not that I disagree with you, but this is what Trudeau said, he said it is a nation of immigrants. And I find this to be true, new immigrants have the red carpet rolled out while those of us born here whether native indian or white man have to work for eveything we get. On top of that they view everyone but native indians as immigrants so they are making a country to exclude us. So that is Trudeau for you.
22. yeah check your white privilege, you race baiting cis gender pig dog.
23. Yup, fair is fair, you have to let all people take their medicine in public spaaces otherwise you are a bigot.
24. Understand it is the arguement of Syrians that banning syrian refugees only is discriminatory/racist. Immigrant: "a person who migrates to another country, usually for permanent residence." There were no countries here, the entire continent was uninhabitated when clovis came.
25. How is it not racist to give preference to one war torn country only? It literally sounds alot like white only immigration except instead of white only its Syrian only. I think Syrian only or any one group or race only immigration is racist.
