I suggest they are not funny to you because they shine an embarrassing light on politicians you support. Unless you only like to watch the 3 Stooges you'll find humor has had a political content throughout it's history. Alec Baldwin shows up on SNL because he is funny and he and Melissa Mccarthy have lifted their ratings into the ozone. So apparently a lot of people do find it funny and I bet they get a pretty good paycheck to boot.

A little actual research will show you that, for instance. the cost of a death penalty trial will be about double of a non death penalty case. After that the average case of housing a death penalty inmate will be around 90k/year more. You add up the years and the costs of the appeals process, you will find it is immensely more expensive to eventually kill an inmate. And is the possibility of being sentenced to death a deterrent to murderers, not a bit.
