  1. Kim might be safe. He doesn't have oil. https://www.africanexponent.com/post/new-evidence-the-real-reason-gaddafi-was-killed-2706
  2. Well I have to say I am intrigued by your optimism that a little visit to the WH would convince Kim to take his finger off that nuclear trigger, if he even has one, and welcome democracy and stop being the supreme dictator, stop murdering anyone who speaks out against him, and bring his country in line with others to comply with such things as international trade and human rights laws etc. But I'm afraid it's also extremely naive. Duterte has murdered thousands of addicts to try and clean up the country's drug problem. You want to invite these boys for a little dinner and a chat? Obviously you are not using your head.
  3. Kim extra judicially murders his own relatives and other with anti-aircraft guns, just to put on a god damn show. Trump would "be honored" to have him visit. WTF is wrong since you seem to have this total belief in religion that should perhaps sway you against this kind of brutal, murderous activity. But then oh yeah, religion. I wait with baited breath to see if Kim and Duterte actually arrive at the WH.
  4. Perhaps you weren't listening to QP as often as I was when Harper was constantly lying over, oh, for instance the $90k check to Duffy. When you get it from the horses mouth you don't have to worry about the messenger.
  5. Shooting the messenger does not undo the message.
  6. I guess you missed the point, but yes I am quite aware of the land disputes in Africa having worked there for many years. A lot of the problems were created by the Brits drawing boundaries in the wrong direction.
  7. I would agree that I appreciated "The Fog of War". I was convinced that he was being honest, forthcoming, reflective, and even a tad apologetic. I certainly don't get those same reactions listening to Rumsfeld. But as a sidebar I have my own little "movie" featuring Rumsfeld. I was working in Tbilisi Georgia and was just leaving my office on the airport when I saw a couple of C-17's land and I wondered if maybe the US was invading or something. They off loaded some fancy vehicles, and then in came a 757 with "The United States of America" written on the side. OK this is getting interesting, I knew it wasn't the Pres. because he rides in a 747, but since I was on the military side of the airport, and planes had all parked nearby I was able to get close enough to see none other than Donald Rumsfeld descend and get into a Limo and head for town. It took me a while to drive home but when I got there I turned on CNN and the lead story was telling me "and Donald Rumsfeld spends a third day visiting with troops in in Iraq". Huh? I emailed CNN to say I just saw him get off a plane but it wasn't in Iraq. Still haven't rec'd any reply. Oh well, I'm sure they'll get back to me.
  8. I think a statement from Desmond Tutu can be as applicable to North America as it was to South Africa. "When the missionaries came to Africa they had the Bible and we had the land. They said 'Let us pray.' We closed our eyes. When we opened them we had the Bible and they had the land." Desmond Tutu
  9. Someone else being shown the White House door. Sebastion Gorka, failed Hungarian politician, mouth piece for the likes of Breitbart, Fox News, and most recently President Trump, leaving town apparently over his far right leaning connections. And then there is that medal he wears. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/may/01/sebastian-gorka-to-leave-white-house-amid-accusations-of-links-to-far-right
  10. Ha! That's not even a snack compared to the lies the Harper Cons. told. You should learn where not to poke a stick sometimes. http://ipolitics.ca/2015/08/02/harpers-kingdom-home-of-the-whopper/ http://www.edmontonsun.com/2013/10/30/house-of-the-whopper-pm-has-spun-such-a-web-of-deceit-he-should-resign-or-be-dismissed http://montrealsimon.blogspot.ca/2015/08/stephen-harper-and-lies-that-will.html
  11. It's certainly a positive step that we see now that Trump listens to Canada's "dictator". I doubt very much though that he will join in the WH dinner for Duterte and Kim.
  12. So what you're saying is probably not anytime soon.
  13. Trump still tries to flog his unsubstantiated claim about Obama wiretapping him, now he wants to meet with 2 murderous dictators, reckons Fat Kim is a "smart cookie" and says in an interview in the oval office today that he "doesn't stand for anything" Where does this gong show end I wonder?
  14. The video is just mindless drivel meant to encourage the converted. As I've already stated, I didn't need the 10 commandments to guide me not to do things it talks about. I grew up in a very kind and loving family who were not religious beyond showing up from time to time at the United church. A bit of a social outing.
  15. Then why would you need to ask whether or not kindness is good?
  16. Didn't your bible tell you so?
  17. He can of course speak for himself but I think it's pretty obvious that kindness is not a product that emanates solely from the bible. Even apes have it among their repertoire.
  18. The problem with crossing native land was more south of the border. North of the border it was Harper's failure to consult.
  19. What happened to all those climate change deniers I wonder?

It seems to me about a year or so ago, all the climate change deniers were claiming the lack of violent storms in the US indicated they were right about GW. Now I guess they are all at home boarding up their windows.

My sympathies to those who have perished to date.

  20. Between Christianity, Islam, and the various other religions throughout the world, it has always made me wonder how so many people could be so easily duped, however I can conclude it has much to do with fear of the unknown, (i.e. after death) and if that gives people some solace from that fear than I can understand. Now I'm not quite sure what the exact definition of what "good" is here, but all in all I think I have been pretty good throughout my life, and I did it without god. I didn't need a commandment carved in a stone tablet to tell me not to kill anyone for instance. If you need that to guide you, are you actually good?
  21. You maybe said, but that doesn't mean I accept. How is the bible any less arbitrary than the koran?
  22. I imagine 1.6 billion Muslim's accept their book arbitrarily either.
  23. So you only accept your book as 'the" book and everyone else is blind for preferring their book. That sounds strangely like blondness in my book.
  24. Their evidence shows them their book was divinely inspired.
  25. We're a little off topic but yes the courts are simply people and therefore not perfect. I would add that the two items you mention are not mutually exclusive.
