Certainly it's a valid criticism, but no more valid than the home grown similar attitude. I just get a little tired of the somewhat constant narrow minded finger pointing at faults of the Muslim community. And sadly, just to follow up on some other information that comes out of the same/ similar surveys as you have used/quoted, one of the growing concerns that the Muslim community is experiencing is growing racism directed toward them.

True. As a matter of fact it shows that Muslim's express more pride in being Canadian, than many of us who were born here. However there seem to be people who have such a strong preconception of immigrants no amount of evidence to the contrary will sway them.

Trump doesn't seem to have looked up when Andrew Jackson died, and he sends Sean Spicer up in front of the press and TV cameras to speak for him and try and tell us we don't know the difference between a wall and a fence. Maybe he should be "fired"

I never said any such thing. Oh yes you did. As far as I'm concerned the fact increasing numbers of Muslim Canadian women, now more than half, feel that they must wear head coverings, or even full face coverings indicates a much stronger belief in the dictates of political Islam. The need for women to cover up goes hand in hand with the belief in the moral failings and inferiority of women, which is supported by Sharia laws which allow women to be beaten, which discard their value in testimony in trials, and which require active discrimination against them.

I don't automatically assume Muslim women are lying in an interview when it doesn't fit my pre-conceived notion of them.

Well then maybe you would be better informed if you actually listened to the people who are wearing them say.

Where would you ever be without broad assumptions? If a Muslim woman in a CBC TV interview says she wears her hijab because she's proud of it, you seem to think you have some sort of crazy authority to deem her a liar because it doesn't suit your Islamophobic bias.

My point was that you will use any example you can find, such as the Khadr family, to try and smear every Muslim immigrant that has or might enter this country. I guess that went over your head.

Surveys done in Canada just after the last federal election confirm your Second thoughts. Some TV interviews I saw with Muslim women had them explaining they wore their hijabs as a sense of pride. Some were with their husbands, who when asked, claimed they didn't really want their wives bother since they didn't there is certainly no pressure to do so in this country, but it was the wife's choice. Seems to me that the notion that women here wear a covering under threat of violence comes more from their xenophobia than fact.
