Goddess replied to Robert Greene's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Betsy, this has been answered over and over. I provided you with all the information and you refuse to acknowledge it. Beastiality is not a "sexual orientation." Pedophilia is not a "sexual orientation". Necrophilia is not a "sexual orientation". Do I need to bold that, make the printing red, increase the font and place weird-ass emojis all over my posts to make you understand? Sheesh! You really are thick. -

And she just ignores the information that states pedophilia is NOT a sexual orientation, and now claims beastiality is a sexual oreintation even though the APA material states otherwise. She will never admit she's wrong. Next, she will start bleating about how homosexuals are just like necrophiliacs. Because you know, if you want to have sex with someone of your same gender, it's so obvious that you also want to have sex with an animal or a dead person. -

Wow, just no matter how many times it is shown to you that pedophilia is NOT a sexual orientation, you're just gonna keep going with that, eh? Also answered in the APA material. -

Yes. Kind of. I used to be one, so I know how it goes. -

Now do you understand why gay people and those of us who love them are "touchy" when you compare them to pedophiles? And why it's inappropriate, and downright wrong to mention pedophilia in conjunction with homosexuality? -

Here, Betsy: https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/oct/31/apa-correct-manual-clarification-pedophilia-not-se/ They are not saying what you think they're saying. Take off the Bible glasses and let your brain work. See how a little extra research can prevent you from spreading falsehoods, Betsy? -

I'm not seeing that they are calling pedophilia a sexual orientation exactly like heterosexuality or homosexuality. I think you're reading faaaaar too much into it. It is still classified as a disorder. It's still classified as paraphilia. And they are still trying to find ways to treat pedophiles. This is not the case with homosexuality. They have already determined that your Christian freinds' "treatment" for homosexuals is incredibly harmful. It's sad that you don't understand the significance of the "paraphilia" label, or refuse to understand. If your point is that the APA thinks pedophilia is a sexual orientation on the same level as homosexuality - you are reading what you want into that article. Because that is in NO WAY what they are saying. Just the fact that you frantically googled to find something - ANYTHING! - that agrees with your view, and latched onto a phrase that sounded the same without really researching what they are talking about, tells me you have no real interest in educating yourself and are perfectly content to go with "The Bible says so." Do some more research, Betsy. Please. Again, this is the stance: They do not say the same about homosexuality. There is a difference and it's sad that you keep thinking they are saying it is the same. -

You really need to read those articles thoroughly. And some other articles too. I know you like things black & white - homosexuality is BAD, the Bible is GOOD. But life isn't like that - human sexuality is not like that. Do a little more research. Please. -

Betsy, honestly, there is sooooooo much more to understanding the sexuality spectrum as set forth by the APA. There are many nuamces to it and things are chnaging every day with our understanding of how to define human sexuality. If you were truly interested in understanding it, you wouldn't be taking one quote from an article and saying it proves your point because it mentions sexual orientation. Proof? It's in your own link: It appears to me that they are searching for ways to treat pedophiles. -

I don't know about you, but I've found Google particularly helpful when I want to find out about something. But here you go, read away! Of course, none of the science will change your mind because....."The Bible says so." -

There is lots of it out there, Betsy. All you have to do is look. I'm sorrynotsorry, but I am going to go with what the majority of the scientic community has stated. I need more than just "It says homosexuality is bad in the Bible". It also says eating shellfish is bad for you, and that you should never mix fabric blends, soooooooooo.......I take the Bible with a grain of salt. -

Since you're having trouble today, I'll recap from my last post where I answered the question: Since you're having trouble today, I'll tell you what that means - it means No. Pedophilia is considered a paraphilia, not a sexual orientation, for the reasons stated above by the APA. -

Answered in my post. Just because you refuse to read or acknowledge the proof, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. -

Depicting gay men as a threat to children by comparing them to pedophiles is a common ploy of religious fanatics. According to the American Psychological Association, sexual orientation refers to heterosexuality, homosexuality and bisexuality - not paraphillias such as pedophilia, which are sexual urges or behaviour that is directed at non-consenting persons or those unable to consent (children, dead people or animals) or that involve another person's phycological distress, injury or death. There are a great many scientific studies that show homosexuality is the result of genetic and environmental factors - What???? That's right - Exactly the same as any other sexual orientation, be it heterosexuality, homosexuality or bisexuality. "Sexual orientation therapy" - as endorsed by religiously motivated anti-gay activists such as yourself, Betsy - has been REJECTED by all the reputable medical, psychiatric, psychological and professional counseling organizations. In fact in 2009, anti-gay therapy was thoroughly denounced by the American Phychiatric Association. It's also been rejected by many anti-gay therapy groups: Homosexulaity is not a mental disorder or an illness, it doesn't need a "cure". Gay people want loving, close relationships like the rest of us, because it's a normal part of a flourishing human life. This is not the case with pedophiles. Pedophiles are not seeking loving, close relationships with an equal partner. And it is unreasonable to require people with healthy sexualities to abstain from sex. But I assume you know that already as a Christian, since the Catholic requirement of celibacy for priests has proven to be disastrous and the Pope has seriously considered doing away with the doctrine. -

"Exaggeration for emphasis" The point - which you conveniently dodged, as usual - is that you are the one foaming at the mouth about homosexuals most often. As a side point, I've noticed for many years now that the ones who foam at the mouth consistently about homosexuals often are the ones who are closet homosexuals and end up in the news for getting caught in....errr.....compromising positions. So let me ask you, Betsy - are you gay? Are you sure? "Methinks the lady doth protest too much." -

No, I'm not. But I support the gay community. That's funny, Betsy. I haven't started ONE topic for or against homosexuality - but you start one almost weekly. So I beg to differ on which of us is the one "drooling and foaming" at the mouth about homosexuality. Same for me. -

Hahaahaa, you can tell them anything you want. But sooner or later they will find out the truth. There is no god, no one gives a crap if you get a tattoo, eat lobster or get laid before marriage. But I suspect you Christians already know that, since you get tattoos, eat lobster and get laid before marriage. -

I didn't start the topic. You did. You seem to be the one taking it personally. Why would it matter if I was trans or not? I have lots of gay friends and I have one friend whose daughter transgendered from female to male before he was out of high school. Like your video of the 14 year old girl, he was fortunate to have parents who supported him and a school that tolerated no bullying. That's really sad. All because you're so insecure in your masculinity that you can't just smile and say "No, thanks, I bat for the other team" should a trans person ever flirt with you......... -

Transgender people have always been here. 100 years ago, they shut up about it, lived a life of shame and confusion and many likely committed suicide. To make people like you feel better. Is that what you want to go back to? Just so you don't accidently flirt with a trans person in a bar? -
Ali first claimed refugee status in Canada in 1986, arriving from the United States. The lawsuit acknowledges he provided authorities with a fake name before admitting his real one a week later. I don't understand why we can't turn these people back at the border? What's wrong with saying, "Look, we don't know who you are or where you're from and you refuse to tell us, so we're not letting you in."? Then let him sue us on his own dime.

No, it was more the first part......feel free to not rebut to your heart's content.

I'm still allowed to rebut your statements.

While I understand and agree with the point you are trying to make - that there are other sects in Christian and Jewish societies which also restrict how women dress - I do not agree on the comparison between a full face AND body covering versus a bonnet or long dress. The burka is neither of those - not a bonnet. Not a longer skirt length. Many women of no faith will wear a hat. Many women of no faith will wear a skirt that is longer. I agree with you that the INTENT is similar. However, a woman in a bonnet or longer skirt can still eat or drink in public. They can speak and be heard. They can interact with society and society can interact with her. I've never had a Hutterite man slap my hand away from his wife or demand that I ignore her, as I have with Muslim men guarding their burka'ed women. I have always felt free to converse with a Hutterite woman. The intent of the burka takes this way, way too far - it doesn't just DIMINISH a woman's female personhood, it completely OBLITERATES the woman and her identity as a human being so that she can neither be seen nor heard and thus is easily forgotten. The burka takes the "spirit" of religious freedom and perverts it in a way that is much more damaging to women. And what damages women, damages society, as is evidenced in countries where the burka is mandatory.
