Asylum System "not sustainable" - Immigration Minister
Goddess replied to Centerpiece's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Roll your eyes all you want. It is a security issue. I know you'd love for it to be only about fear and dislike. But as Sapper dude pointed out, it's a symptom of a bigger problem, it's not racism or islamophobia on the part of Westerners. It's a societal view that is the antithesis of everything we stand for. You will also get a fine if you don't wear your seatbelt or smoke in a public place. Sometimes stupidity needs to be regulated. Or maybe, just maybe.....it's time for Muslim wants, desires and preferences to take the backseat to Western wants, desires and preferences and do some bending of its own instead of Westerners constantly having to bow and bend to what Muslims want. -
Asylum System "not sustainable" - Immigration Minister

Then why is there a requirement to remove motorcycle helmets, balaclavas and scarves that cover the face in banks, airports, government buildings, etc? All this time, I thought it was a security issue but I guess it's just that Westerners "fear and dislike" motorcycle helmets and balaclavas. https://www.khaleejtimes.com/international/pakistan/peshawar-university-attack-three-killed-at-least-5-wounded https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/incident-canadian-tire-rcmp-toronto-police-islamic-state-1.4147750 -
Which proves what I always say - Modesty is a quality of character. Not a garment you wear. Hijabs do not equal Modesty.

I imagine Christians from a Muslim culture would join a Christian church when they arrive in the West, and Muslims would join a mosque. Which one do you think would teach them our culture? I don't think it would be the mosque. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-08-29/koran-434-islam-domestic-violence/10112916 People are more likely to let cultural beliefs and traditions go or be relegated to a lesser place when they are no longer immersed in that culture. Religious beliefs and traditions are usually more deeply entrenched and much more difficult to break free from. I'm not confident in view of the article above that Muslims coming to the West and joining a mosque would be given Western instructions on how to treat women. All over the world I see a lot of organizations trying to get Westerners to view Islam in a romanticized way, while there are very few efforts to get Muslims to adopt any Western ways.

You are soooooo quick to judge my motives and determined to paint me as a racist and Islamophobe that you fail to read what is written. My first sentence made it clear who I was referring to - extreme misogynists. Or are you now denying that there is extreme misogyny in Islam?
-
It's women in Canada that bear the brunt of the extreme misogyny we are importing. They don't like being told "No" by a woman and don't see why they can't physically assault women who do.
-
I think the concern is that we were told these people were vetted before they were allowed in. Clearly that is not the case. Very sad that you're trying to make out that this is a Muslim-bashing thing.

Justin Trudeau the Worst PM Since Pierre Trudeau?
Goddess replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It's the general consensus of many regarding his policies and what he wants to accomplish in Canada. https://torontosun.com/2016/09/14/trudeau-says-canada-has-no-core-identity/wcm/60461a6d-7cb4-42a9-b242-05be9aaea46c -
Justin Trudeau the Worst PM Since Pierre Trudeau?

http://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/trump-warns-he-could-cause-the-‘ruination’-of-canada/ar-BBN1iZn?li=AAggNb9 Why is Trudeau holding out on the "cultural exemption"? He has repeatedly stated his belief that Canada has no culture and nothing worth preserving. -
At least it prompted some action on the part of the government, even if these 2 sickos basically got away with it.
-
Unfortunately, there are a lot of crazy and violent earthlings, so your utopia (while a lovely thought) isn't very practical at this point in time.
-
It's a problem in other countries, too. https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/709345/Muslims-urged-not-to-SLAUGHTER-ANIMALS-in-the-streets-of-France-at-Eid-al-Adha http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6100597/Back-garden-butchers-Hygiene-probe-family-hack-animal-carcasses-Eid-East-London.html

You're the only one who has called me out on anything whose opinion I respect. (In spite of the snark on both our parts.) You have a great weekend, too.
-
You know you do. I'm not the only one whos called you on it.

You"ve also said all terrorists are just mentally ill people (which is insulting to people who struggle with mental illness) and that they have no religious motivation, that terrorism is because of Western influences (which may have some truth, but unlikely to be the only cause, is insulting to all the rest of the world, like we deserve to be bombed and killed indiscriminately. And it's insulting to anyone who was truly bullied in their life and didn't choose to bomb and kill innocent people.) When pushed, yes, you will condemn terrorism while still making excuses for it. You regularly deride, insult, reword posts to the point of ridiculousness and namecall anyone here who dares to suggest there may be a problem in Islam or with misogyny. Barbaric cultural practices practiced mostly by Muslims are excused because a minority of christians living in those Muslim countries also do it and besides, "they'll figure it out eventually." In the meantime, people are dying. Muslim needs, wants, perferences and demands are always what is most important to you, f**ck everyone else. That's my take on it.
-
Meh. Everyone who doesn't wave pom poms for Islam and make excuses for terrorists is a liar to you.
-
I'd feel better if you'd stop lying about what people are saying and then I wouldn't have to rant.
-
Again, I did not say they have NO koranic basis for condemning violence. Stop fabricating what people say, it's getting really annoying. I said, they would have trouble refuting it because the verses are there that command them to carry out violence. Do you deny that those verses are there? They have been quoted to you over and over again, and you ignore them every time. Wake up! They exist and they are being followed by a sizeable enough portion of Muslims to cause grief worldwide. Do you deny this, too? Also, a lot of what I picked up has NOT been from reading anti-Muslim sites - you have no proof of what I read or don't read, so again - another fabrication and attempt to smear me. I have read many books BY Muslims and by ex-Muslims and by pro-Muslims, I have read on many MUSLIM websites the advice imams give to questions and yes, I am not impressed. Do they all advocate FGM and wife beating and etc etc? No, but a good portion of them do. I have studied religion and a several religions in particular. I don't have to BE a Muslim to know what the religion is about, as you yourself claim to be not a Muslim and yet seem to be able to speak for all Muslims. I have studied cults - in great depth - and how they operate to keep people in fear and enslavement. What do you have? What research have you done? What have you studied? All you have is a sister who's a Muslim and a strong (but understandable) desire to support her beliefs. You play fast and loose with numbers and stats and polls and turn every comment here into a black/white thing - YOU do. Not the people who are commenting. YOU are the one with the black/white thinking. But you continue to wave your "RAH! RAH! ISLAM!" pom poms all you want. The rest of us will deal with the realities of it.
-
We're all going to hell in someone else's religion. Haha
-
And once again , you missed the entire point of what I said and decided to refute something that wasn't my argument. This is a very bad habit of your's, both with myself and others. My argument was not that "No Muslims have ever condemned terrorism." My argument was that they will have trouble refuting terrorist ideology using the Koran because the Koran contains the very commands that terrorists are following. Slow clap at the excellent attempt to detract and paint me falsely, though
-
Again, there is no command in the Bible's New Testament to kill, dominate or subjugate the rest of the world. It is very easy for Christians to condemn the actions of violent people who use the Bible to support a violent agenda, because there is no command to do so. Violent Christians are acting completely contrary to the Bible's instructions. No so with the Koran. Extremists have actual commands that they are following. It's right there. No one can argue the commands are are not there. So Muslims will have trouble refuting extremist ideology, as they are really the only ones doing Allah's full will. I suspect this is why most Muslims have little to say about Islamic extremists and have little interest in removing extremist imams and literature from their schools and mosques. They don't have a leg to stand on.
-
Oh, I know. What is frustrating is non-Muslims who claim to speak for all Muslims, claiming that even though this is what is taught to young and old, that it has absolutely no effect on their behaviour whatsoever. To claim that Islamic terrorism has no connection to the religion is to deny that Islam is much more than a religion - it's a religion, it's a social system, it's a political system - all in one that demands compliance of believers and non-believers to all 3.
-
If they really wanted to condemn those who do, they would turn in their violent extremist Saudi imams and get rid of all the extremist writings in their schools and mosques. They would make it clear to all their followers that jihad is not violent struggle against non-believers. If they really wanted peaceful co-existence, they would not establish enclaves in all countries of the world where non-Muslims are not welcome and women are harrassed and followed and beaten for not "dressing modestly." Polls would not show that the majority of Muslims world-wide want death for those who convert from Islam, death for apostates and anyone who doesn't show proper respect for their prophet. Do you know how many people showed up for the missing Edmonton woman Nadia Atwi's second search party? I do. Because one of my friends was one of four (4) white women who showed up to search for her. Where was her family and community? No, I think there is a lot more extremism in Islam than the 100,000 you estimate. But that's because you only associate violence with extremism. For myself and many others, the prevalence of violent views in Islam is troubling. But not apparently for Muslims or their supporters.
-
Some experts disagree with me, yes. Others do not. I'm inclined to go with the reasons that terrorists themselves give for doing things - to expand Islam, through violence and terror throughout the world and establish a Caliphate according to the directives of Islam, as laid out in the Koran. I'm well aware of Canada's/Trudeau's stance that terrorists just need hugs and poetry and millions of dollars and maybe a little sing-along. I don't subscribe to the same warm fuzzies towards terrorists as you do.
