  1. If their lips are moving they are lying.
  2. You keep thinking that American Woman and you are going keep running into the same old problems. They hate our freedom...what a joke. Yaa you yanks don't corner the market on idiots, we do have conservatives.
  3. You are obviously comfortable with the amount of power that these entities wields. You don't seem to be concerned with any immoral acts that they might commit, as long as you get your cheap products. Yes we live in a world where it's near impossible to get by without using them in some way. This is what concerns me.
  4. I don't think that you can compare a corporation to a gun. Guns are not considered persons under the law. If someone shoots another person with a gun the individual that was in control of the gun is charged. People that is in control of a corporation are not legally responsible for the actions of the corporation they control. Corporations are not just "machines". They are a group of people, and of course groups of people can be evil. Examples include the KKK, the Nazi's, ect. But in this case it's like the Nazi's committing horrible acts but not being legally responsible for them because it's the organizations fault.
  5. Argus there is great quote that I think applies to you and a few other people that don't want to understand the truth. All truth passes through three stages First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as self-evident So keep thinking that it's just a bunch of religious nutbars that hate your freedom, until you get to the third stage. I love this video
  6. I'm not sure I'm following? I understand that "Alcohol and drug problems are a major factor in crime and poverty for many people." But child abuse is a major factor in developing Alcohol and drug problems and becoming a criminal. Not every child is brought up in a stable family, and therefore doesn't have the advantages others have.
  7. Am I the only one that see's similarities between what's happening today and the beginning of the French Revolution.
  8. Yes this is where we agree people need to take responsibility for their own poor choices in life. I strike out the word poor because some people are happy with less, and have no desire for riches. That is a personal choice. I think where we disagree is that people don't reach the top level through hard work alone. And just because you are poor doesn't make you lazy. I have no room for this type of generalizations. "Oh, and throw in drug and alcohol treatment, too". That is cold and heartless. Just because had a great upbringing doesn't mean everyone has.
  9. I really don't know what side of the fence you are on. I agree with what you are saying, but I think you are taking what I have said out of context.
  10. I agree completely GostHacked. I'm sure you have seen this documentary but I'll post it anyway. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YH4OwBYDQe8 One solution to this problem is to fight to remove their personhood. Another is to boycott as many corporations as possible. Buy Local, and Support small businesses. Another is to stop acting like a consumer, and start acting like a morally and ethically responsible human being.

  12. So is are these private tyrannies acceptable? Are they a necessary evil? I don't believe so, do you? A great book to read is Life Inc. How Corporatism Conquered the World, and How We Can Take It Back Whether we like it or not, Americans are almost completely dependent on corporations to make their daily lives run. From the places we buy groceries, to the cars we drive, to the little niceties that make life more pleasant - Giant corporations have their hand in almost every aspect of our daily routines. But things don't have to be this way. Mike Papantonio of Air America's Ring of Fire talks about how things got so bad, and what we can do to take our lives back with Douglas Rushkoff, author of the new book "Life, Incorporated: How the World Became a Corporation, and How to Take it Back." - golefttv
  13. I agree most things can be overcome with hard work, But I'm talking about natural/unnatural disadvantages due to inequality that limit advancement. These are not excuses, these are facts. Yes hard work makes you appreciate the things you have earned. This is a mute point. I think it's easier to claim that you made it to the top through hard work rather than admitting that multiple factors had more to do with it. Maybe you came from a supportive family that was not abusive. Maybe your parents were able to send you to better schools. Maybe you were born with natural talents.
  14. You don't seem to attribute any other factors other than hard work for this income gap. What about lack of access to education or learning disabilities gender racism innate ability family, and personal background It's not a problem? ( I think that's what was being said just before the french revolution) Research has shown an inverse link between income inequality and social cohesion. In more equal societies, people are much more likely to trust each other, measures of social capital suggest greater community involvement, and homicide rates are consistently lower. Widening income gap hurts us all - By David Olive Business Columnist
  15. That's OK ???? , and what empire the Canadian Empire??? Nice try at misdirection did you learn that from Bush?
  16. The September 11 attacks have caused major changes on US foreign policy. The Bush administration tried to use the terrorist attack as a pretext for war in Iraq. Now many say that spreading its human and material resources in foreign adventures in Iraq and Afghanistan, America is facing much more dangerous threats than before 9/11.- RTAmerica
  17. Back on track
  18. bush_cheney2004 something I've noticed is you don't seem capable of contributing to any topics. You add your one or two sentence comments that contain no substance. Your title is "senior mocker" which seems to sum you up. What is the point of your existence on this forum other that to be some sort of heckler of others views without contributing your own. It's kind of sad
  19. It's just sick when remembrance turns into some nationalistic celebration. What's even more disgusting is this constant notion that the US was this good little country that never did anything wrong to any other nation, and thus it was attacked purely out of some irrational, religious-fueled hatred. Baloney. Terrorism is the natural result of empire. Hijackings, bombings, shootings, labor violence, etc. doesn't just grow out of nowhere. If you want to end terrorism then stop terrorizing. Most acts of "terrorism" are, in some ways, acts of self-defense or at least acts of trying to take back what was stolen from the "terrorists". I'm not trying to belittle the deaths that happened on 9/11, but people need to understand why those attacks happened in the first place (outrage at US support for Israel and hated Arab regimes as well as the spread of global capitalism) and take responsibility to prevent the US government and the corporations that control it from committing more atrocities that are much worse.
  20. Naomi Klein Debunks Ethical Oil at Tar Sands Action AN INVITATION: Join the Ottawa sit-in on September 26 "There comes a time…" There comes a time when you need to take a stand. When sending letters and signing petitions isn't enough. When together we must say, "enough is enough — not on our watch.
  21. I'm sorry but there is no answer there. Go ahead, Run and hide from the question.
  22. Nice political double speak..Give an answer without giving an answer.
  23. So please...you tell me why these people attacked your country, and please don't say they hate your freedom.
  24. Ron Paul explains the damage that an interventionist policy can have when it comes to violent blowback killing approximately 3000 people, for no good reason? WoW You say that Leftists Are Reactionaries...I would say Rightists have their heads up their ***. Don't be afraid of knowledge. 25. The ship is sinking and Canada is tied to it. I asked the magic eight ball if a world currency is in the future. Out look is good. . I started buying gold just after the Iraq war started, started buying silver last year. It's all good in the hood
