  1. It is my view that Corporations are evil entities. So why do I believe this? Before I give my reasons lets look at some definitions. Corporation - an association of individuals, created by law or under authority of law, having a continuous existence independent of the existences of its members, and powers and liabilities distinct from those of its members. - dicionary.com A corporation is a legal entity that is created under the laws of a state designed to establish the entity as a separate legal entity having its own privileges and liabilities distinct from those of its members. Despite not being natural persons, corporations are recognized by the law to have rights and responsibilities like natural persons ("people") - Wikipedia Note: when I refer to Corporation I am for the most part talking about Large/Multi Nationals Corporate personhood - refers to the question of which subset, if any, of rights afforded under the law to natural persons should also be afforded to corporations as legal persons. Evil - Evil is usually seen as the dualistic opposite of good. Good = Empathy and Compassion Empathy - is the capacity to recognize and, to some extent, share feelings (such as sadness or happiness) that are being experienced by another sentient or semi-sentient being Some psychiatric disorders, including autism, antisocial personality disorder, and narcissistic personality disorder, have been associated with a lack of ability to empathize (or experience empathy). Compassion - (from Latin: "co-suffering") is a virtue — one in which the emotional capacities of empathy and sympathy (for the suffering of others) are regarded as a part of love itself, and a cornerstone of greater social interconnection and humanism — foundational to the highest principles in philosophy, society, and personhood. So why do I call Corporations Evil? Corporations are inherently, and intrinsically evil legal entities (persons) created by man. If we look at the corporation as a legal person, it exhibits all the characteristics of a psychopath using a personality diagnostic checklist by the World Health Organization. Like Dr. Frankenstein’s monster, his creation, has overwhelmed and overpowered him, as the corporate form has done with us. Like vampires, they are immortal unless dissolved. The Corporations only concern is to create profits for shareholders, resulting in profits over people. They are required by law to place the financial interests of their owners above competing interests. In fact, the corporation is legally bound to put its bottom line ahead of everything else, even the public good. Profits before people. According to Lord Chancellor Haldane, ...”a corporation is an abstraction. It has no mind of its own any more than it has a body of its own; its active and directing will must consequently be sought in the person of somebody who is really the directing mind and will of the corporation, the very ego and centre of the personality of the corporation”. Herein Lies the Problem, and part of the reason that Corporation do evil. A CEO’s job is to create profits by any means, if he/she fails they are replaced. This creates a evolutionary system where the most ethically delinquent, narcissistic, morally corrupt persons rise to the top. None of whom will take any legal responsibility for the actions of the Corporation. A corporation can be responsible for murder, but because this entity has no actual body it cannot be imprisoned. It is only required to pay a fine. If a fine is less than the costs of doing the right thing like cleaning up a oil spill, they will pay the fine every time. The reason that corporations are able to get away with evil acts is because the owners (shareholders) turn a blind eye to their actions. They defer responsibility away from themselves for how their investments are used. They only want to make money, and don’t really care where it comes from. In conclusion, if corporation are legal persons, and as a person exhibits all the characteristics of a psychopath. And one of the symptoms of a psychopath is a lack of ability to empathize (or experience empathy). And from my definition of Evil being the absence of Empathy. Ergo Corporations are evil.
  2. I don't understand what you mean. They are connected, it was a tax that the majority didn't want, and it was implemented in a deceitful manner by the Liberal Party. A strike against the tax, and a strike against the Liberal Party. Who is the dummy?
  3. Look this is off topic. If you would like to have a debate or learn what the libertarian lefts real views are, or why Corporations are Evil, start another topic. I'll check back tomorrow.
  4. I think this show how little you understand the philosophy. Again Off topic, and I'm sorry for even bringing it up.
  5. See there you go confusing me with the American Libertarian Right Version. There is such thing as The Libertarian Left. But this is off topic, and not about me.
  6. Such as, and don't confuse me with the American Libertarian Right Version.
  7. Well you might just be right about the HST being a non-issue simply by "listening to the people", time will tell. People still haven't forgiven the Federal Liberals for their scandal. As for me voting for the NDP, I might have to vote for them but believe me I am not an NDPer. Living in Kelowna, a major conservative/Neo-Liberal strong hold, my vote doesn't count for anything. I am a Libertarian (Not the American version ) and have no party that represents my views. I mean what party runs on reducing their necessity. I will forever be stuck picking the lesser of two evils.
  8. I don't like the way they have handled the situation so far. A sincere apology for the handling of this whole fiasco on behalf of the whole party would go along way. I for one am not stupid enough to blame this HST clusterflux on one person, and then forgive the party when he is gone. Clark mishandled the problem just about as badly after taking office. Note: I'm not an NDPer myself, and wish there were a real Liberal Party to vote for in BC. I don't care what name they use, the BC liberals are more Neo-Liberal/Conservative than Liberal. As usual I will vote for the lesser of two evils....the Canadian way
  9. You better hope the BC voter's have a short memory, and the BC Neo-Liberals don't call a fall election.
  10. WHO GAVE THE G20 COMMANDER HIS COMMANDS? It wasn't just a few bad apples, it was an illegal game plan. Demand a public inquiry.
  11. How do you know ? Because you read some report done by the BC business community or some right wing think tank (pretty much the same thing) ? People that are secure in their beliefs don't hide in the shadows and refuse to discuss those beliefs.
  12. How are they to know what the merits of the policy are if the government would debate them with another view of the so called facts?? Your on a sinking ship....SS bad argument.
  13. I hope the BC voter's don't get fooled by Campbell's resignation. It was a Party Clusterflux, and the whole party should take the blame. How good is their memory???? There is some talk about a fall election if HST is voted down, so maybe we will see. This would be a nail in the coffin of the BC Neo-Liberals. $3 billion price tag on dismantling the HST, that should make a few voters angry..yaaa? The cost of taking voters for granted You know what Wilber, I'm starting to think that TimG is really a conservative living in Ontario, and knows nothing about what he's talking about.
  14. I really find it hard to believe that you believe what you say. In fact I don't believe it If it was such a good policy Why was Campbell so dishonest about it? Why wasn't there a public debate on such a big issue? Why the big rush to bring it in? Why after Clark came in all the simplistic propaganda pushing for it instead of an open and public debate? Why again did Clark refuse a debate against Adrian Dix just before the referendum? You don't run from something you believe in, so whats the problem? The BC Neo-Liberals want to bring in a major tax change but don't want to discuss it with anyone? Trust us we are politicians....and don't ask any tuff questions. P.S. don't blame all this on Campbell, the whole BC Neo-Liberal party is to blame. If you don't stand up against something you are just as guilty.
  15. WOW......Not even close. It's like a voter asking someone that is trying to get re-elected "hey are you planning to bring in a tax we are unfamiliar with and don't like the looks of". And the guy trying get re-elected lying to the voter and saying "Hey, no way, we aren't even looking at this tax". Then after getting elected going against what he told the voter, and bringing in the tax. OK not only that, the voter finds out through freedom of information that this guy he just elected was planning to bring it in all along. Then when the voter stands up against what was not only deceitful but more importantly against the voters wishes. Then the voter gets blamed for this mess by guys like you?????
  16. I really don't know why you are blaming "John Q Public" for this clusterflux ??? It was a great day for BC Democracy and a bad day for the BC Corporatocracy
  17. Thank you for clearing this up William Ashley.
  18. Woooooo now your a little off your rocker on this one. It was the folly of the BC Neo-Liberals not the voters. Voters asked Campbell if the HST was on the radar, he said no. He got voted in and then implemented the tax. If he had been honest and had public debates on the issue before bringing in this unwanted tax the whole clusterflux would never of happened. Bill Them Think before you speak.
  19. Harper TV . Unfair and biased
  20. The actions of the government and the police during the G20 Summit demonstrate the need for answers, accountability, and action. An independent inquiry into the actions of the police during the G20 is required. Immediately following last year’s summit, 73 per cent of Torontonians said police were justified in their response to demonstrations. One year later, that figure has dropped to only 41 per cent — a dramatic, 32-point percentage drop......Thank you YouTube the great social justice tool.
  21. edumacational guesstation on my part. Guilty as 'not' charged.
  22. All that is needed is for anyone of these officers to see a law being broken by another officer, and do nothing about it....boom guilty.
  23. Sure, some of them. Unlawful search and seizure Assault Unlawful arrests. The Charter of Rights and Freedoms was infringed upon for those that were arrested. Police need warrrants and reasonable doubt to search and detain you. From what I heard about the holding cells, torture might apply. I realize it's not against the law to lie to the public but there was whole lot of that going on. This is not the way you treat citizens in Canada or Toronto. We have laws that police must follow and this was not done. The police should be charged, and the police chief should resign for his decision to suspend the very law he pledged to uphold. “Do as I say and not as I do” does not cut it in a civilized society. Toronto is not a police state. Huge mistakes were committed. Laws were not communicated to the public. The police cannot terrorize Toronto citizens in the name of keeping order in the city of Toronto. P.S. 10,000 police engaged in the G20 security against maybe 200 anarchists, and they could not contain them...What a joke.
  24. If a member of the police force witnessed another police member break the law and did nothing, he is just as guilty. They are put in a position to protect the public not each other. With all the laws that were broken I just don't see how in one way or another how the vast majority of police aren't guilty. The sad thing of it is, they did do their job. they followed the RCMP orders as per Harper's directions. They acted like political thugs.
