  1. Masterful handling of the Canada/US agenda by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Notice how he got one of his major platform topics (women in the economy) to the forefront, yet allowed Trump to take credit. True leadership.
  2. Trudeau has been to the Whitehouse, and is very comfortable with a real President. Any tension you notice would be due to Mr. Trump.
  3. Trump was never a businessman, he is an entertainer.
  4. Probably because it was way overpriced to begin with.
  5. True, very true.
  6. Generally negotiations don't happen between the leaders, why should Monday be any different than any point in history between any nations in the past?
  7. The US embassy in Ottawa is America soil (just like the Canadian embassy in Washington is Canadian soil). Should the pre-clearance area in Canadian airports be considered US soil? Once you enter the US customs and immigration area, you have made the choice to enter the US. Nobody is dragging you into there, you enter of your own free will. Your intent is to enter the US and comply with their laws, the only issue is where is the line? If I board a commercial flight to the US, but decide before it crosses the border that I want to turn around do I have the right?
  8. Shouldn't aid money is directed towards solving problems for the people in the country, not building fancy resorts for tourists.
  9. It is very relevant to understand cultural differences and be aware how uncomfortable that awkward moment was. I expect you could probably find that same expression on the face of the ladies after Trump's awkward foreplay, right before he grabbed their ....
  10. When Wilhelm Röntgen first discovered X-Rays, they were "non-invasive". The Americans started putting them up in booths in carnivals, even as late as the 50's, they could be found in shoe stores to fit a pair of shoes.
  11. medical need. In Canada patients are prioritized the nature and severity of their disease, while in the US patients are prioritized by the size of their pocketbook.
  12. Have you ever lived in or visited Japan?
  13. Yes, that says a lot about the society.
  14. That wasn't warm, it was plain awkward. Warmth is something natural, that was forced. Donald and Abe are not bro's.
  15. Wrong, if you want an MRI and can afford one then you shall have one. Canada does not discriminate health care based on wealth, unlike another country I will not mention.
  16. So you think that Trudeau will do something therefore he should not even study the situation. Ignorance is your preferred state of being?
  17. Immigration may be on the road to citizenship, but there are other paths along that road. The Swiss are fairly open in immigration, limited only by numbers. It is citizenship they are very stringent about. The article you link to is more about the automatic right to citizenship we grant to people who are born in Canada, and that has absolutely nothing to do with immigration. Even children of tourists that are born here are granted citizenship, that is something we should be reviewing.
  18. While I support the idea of not criminally responsible, that does not mean that person is not guilty and more important not a threat to society. While this man may not belong in a jail, he certainly does belong in an institution that can ensure his disease is properly monitored and treated. While he may be able to function in society, he can also quickly cease to function normally and become a threat. He needs to be very closely monitored, and that is not possible when granting him the full freedoms other citizens enjoy.
  19. I agree we need to review our citizenship process, I have said that many times already. This thread however is about immigration, not citizenship.
  20. I would say it is a competition to see who is first out of the gate, and to what extent. Maybe we need Presidents that can keep from dropping bombs, and work towards peaceful solutions to the worlds problems.
  21. Pride Toronto has lots of sponsors, public and private, and the parade attracts about a million people who are estimated to spend several hundred million dollars in the city. The public sponsors are: City of Toronto - $160,500 Queen’s Park’s - $270,000 Ottawa’s - $140,200 Of course there are countless other organizations with their hands in the public pocket: The Canadian Opera Company - $1.5 million The National Ballet $1.25 million Toronto Symphony $1.22 million. Bata Shoe Museum - $200,000 Honda Indy - $270,000 The Shaw Festival - $247,500 Great Canadian Cheese Festival - $45,000 The Fringe Festival - $90,000 Taste of Asia Festival - $67,500 Toronto Triathlon Festival - $56,250 Digital Dreams Festival - $270,000 Salsa on St. Clair Street Festival - $90,000 Why don't we hear the same outrage over all these other ones? This is for you Argus - listen up - I am not supporting the Pride Festival, I am just calling those out who only have time to criticize one thing. If you are going to go out of you way to criticize, then at least look up and fight against them all.
  22. We will see if Bombardier can firm up those orders with Leong air and CDB leasing. Sanity
  23. The US has over 30 times the trade deficit with China compared to Canada. China is interested in selling stuff to the US, not buying. You can't pretend that away by ignoring it.
  24. Isn't that the situation we have had for 150 years (minus a couple of months)?
