  1. We wanted 600 CF-105s but got 200 CF-104s. 25 years later we got 138 CF-18s we are now 30 years later and looking at (maybe) 65 [C]F-35s Each of those iterations is at least an order of magnitude (decimal) larger in cost. At that rate in 2040 we will be looking at acquiring 17 CF-93s at a total cost near a trillion dollars.
  2. There were three* possible answers to your original question: 1. The Science is wrong 2. The Bible can be interpreted (ie. God set the conditions to make the world) 3. I don't care what you have to say, Praise God. betsy obviously choose 3. *three, assuming you are a believer, obviously non-believers would have a different answer
  3. There are many modern western governments with proportional representation that renew government (change hands) periodically. Do you have any empirical evidence that says FPTP has a better track record?
  4. How much are those numbers related to immigration, and how much to Canadian Muslim families raising children here? None of what you cite is relevant to the question is it Canadian Muslim families that are growing faster than the status quo. Remember we are approaching 25% of Canadians were not born here, and with over a million immigrants every 5 years it doesn't take long to make up those numbers on immigrants alone. I see that as a very different issue about immigration and not religion.
  5. Actually it probably won't. 241.‍2 (1) A person may receive medical assistance in dying only if they meet all of the following criteria: (d) they have made a voluntary request for medical assistance in dying that, in particular, was not made as a result of external pressure; and (e) they give informed consent to receive medical assistance in dying. (3) (b-) ensure that the person’s request for medical assistance in dying was (ii) signed and dated after the person was informed by a medical practitioner or nurse practitioner that the person has a grievous and irremediable medical condition;
  6. I don't like this judge because he is Mexican I don't like this judge because she is a lady I don't like this judge because he has bad breath I don't like this judge because he drives a Prius Yup, I want to get off scot free because I don't like any judge.
  7. Parker Gallant is out of his rocker. He wants to stop all investment, and subsidize power from some magical money tree. I think the Liberals did a terrible job with power, but Parker Gallant offers zero. His solution will cause either rates or taxes to skyrocket a thousand fold in a few years.
  8. Is that a factor of being Muslim, or being from a specific country. What is the size of Canadian Muslim families, compared to the status quo? Do you have a problem with Catholics, they had a religious reason (church against contraception) for their large family sizes. Islam has been far more accepting of birth control within certain bounds than the Catholic Church.
  9. Shouldn't this be under local politics, as there is about 3 times as many occurrences per capita in Vancouver than the rest of the country.
  10. Make sure you take enough cyanide, a sublethal dose will most likely cause brain damage. Someone who tries to mix up their own batch may end up as a vegetable. Not my recommended method.
  11. Do you have any statistics for that? I did say 'combat' for a reason, but it would be interesting to see how these planes are actually used. I expect far and away, training is the primary mission. I would be surprised if it is any less than 95% of the missions, probably a lot more. I believe the CF-18's were used in Iraq (first gulf war), Kosovo, Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq & Syria (ISIS) as combat missions. I don't know what peacekeeping missions they have been involved in. NORAD intercepts I am aware of a handful of Russian incursions in the far north, and one Sunwing flight where the pilot didn't change radio frequency and went 'silent'.
  12. Cute, interpretation and context are important to you here but in the other thread about NAS you call them irrelevant. Talk about Quote-mining out of context. b.t.w. I interpret the Bible as a story book designed by self appointed authorities to maintain control and dominance over the populace.
  13. Unless their name is Margaret Wente.
  14. All this arguing over fighter aircraft. When was the last time Canada actually used a fighter aircraft in combat? Are not the bulk (100%?) of our combat missions bombing and recognizance? What is the appropriate aircraft for those missions? Should we not be looking at UAVs which are a thousand times better for those purposes?
  15. Fine, but those are specific blogs or twitter feeds that the fan subscribes to. Putting the spoiler on the front page of a general forum is where the problem stems from. There is a section where it should have gone and given the "Warning spoiler" in the title.
  16. I thought the navy replaced the F-14's with SuperHornets. The F-14 Tomcat was a Grumman aircraft, made famous in TopGun movie. The SuperHornet is a McDonnell Douglas aircraft (now Boeing). I will never forget the opportunity I had in the early 90's to visit what was then US Naval base Miramar (aka Fightertown USA), an seeing the F-14 up close and hearing them takeoff.
  17. Yes, No Yes, I believe that there are benefits to society at large to ensure that if someone does commit suicide they do it without ending up in a vegetative state and especially not endangering others as often is the case (Germanwings Flight 9525 as an extreme example). I don't think that masking the cause of death to defraud insurance or other benefits however is acceptable.
  18. To put that in context, if we take the FBI UCR data from 2011 (latest I could find for this level of detail), we get about a 5:1 ratio between men killing their wife/girlfriend and women killing their husband/boyfriend. That being said, I don't see the poster as a violence against women, it is violence in entertainment. Anyone who is against this poster should spend equal energy being against all violence in entertainment, or else accept them equally for what they are.
  19. I have had the same (or very similar, depending on allowable characters, etc.) moniker on many on-line forums for the past 8 years. That is when I began participating in political oriented discussions, I have been (and still do) use my real name in other on-line forums since the 80's. There is nothing stopping someone from creating a 'real looking' name, or many multiple names. The only positive effect of the new policy will to be get rid of some of the monikers people use to throw insults around (Harper_Sucks, Trudeau_ManChild, etc.), it will do absolutely nothing to get rid of anonymity. This is another dumb move by the CBC. Now the trolls will simply create multiple accounts with names representing the ethnicity and gender they wish to pretend to be. The best move by the CBC would to be to fire their useless moderators, who accomplish nothing but put a long time lag in postings.
  20. I was wondering that as well, but checked out the 'Forum Rules and Guidelines' (link at bottom of page), and could not find out what rule it violated.
  21. I wonder if the bros discussed this during the Washington state visit several weeks back. Something our press should be asking of Mr. Trudeau.
  22. By that same token, was Harper the reason for the 2014 Wynne majority? I guess that only leaves us with the old and senile who vote blue because they were sold a bill of goods.
  23. What is worse: A) Spoiler 2) Deleting the spoiler c) Huge reaction to the deletion of the spoiler
  24. I guess it is a good thing we don't have IT persons arguing in front of the bench. Can you tell us with Title 18 means?
  25. Yes, we need economists with masters degrees that rack up $170 billion in debt.
