  1. The man is 80 years old, and due to the time period he grew up in doesn't think of the joke in the same way many do. Stephen Harper knew Crosbie's personality when he appointed him to the job, if he didn't think he was suitable he should have never been appointed. The man is as ignorant as a pig and has been telling offensive jokes for 70 years, he's not going to suddenly stop because he was appointed Lieutenant Governor of a province with a sense of humour. As well Crosbie has been surprisingly well behaved since he was appointed.
  2. How dare the man have an accent.
  3. Wow you're a funny guy.

  6. Newfoundland and Labrador's Justice Minister is speaking out against it. http://www.vocm.com/newsarticle.asp?mn=2&ID=18259
  7. Peggy Nash is to old. I think Dewar is in the best position to win, Nash is his competition in this because they will likely be going after the same people.
  8. Now that I've heard there will be to much work for Halifax's shipyard and that Marystown will get work because of it I am fully behind Halifax winning!
  9. They did in the 80's, all Quebeck really cares about is if the leader is from Quebec.
  10. Trudeau is far from leadership material yet anyways.
  11. Well Trudeau is out.
  12. Another question: Are you yourself irrelevant? Yes.

  14. David McGuinty may stand a better chance now that Dalton has been reelected in Ontario.
  15. Look where that long standing "policy" has left the party. If they're going to keep up with stupid traditions like alternating between French and English leaders then the party is likely screwed.
  16. That's a bit racist. As well if the party wants to remain in existence they'll likely move past the idea of only allowing a "frenchie" to be their next leader, especially seeing they don't have many to pick from.

  18. The NDP who went into the election strong, second place in the polls, did not do so great in week one of the campaign. The NDP seemed do be transforming from a fringe party to a viable option for voters over the last while, their fundraising has outpaced the Liberals over the last few years, policies they have advocated were implemented by the PCs, and over the last few months their polling increased 20 points. After week one of the campaign though they still seem like a third place party at 8% in the polls. After launching their election campaign at a house, with few supports and loud background noise, they showed voters that they would still be driving around in a mini van instead of the usual campaign bus the other parties are using. Once again instead of a province-campaign the party seems to be only focused on the St. John's area, while this is their best area to pickup support it also has led to less media coverage and I believe it makes them come off as unprofessional. While the campaign may only be three weeks there was plenty of time to travel the whole province, while still putting most of the focus on St. John's. They were the first party to release their platform, and while it is more realistic then their previous one they are now facing issues with their costing. They announced they woulda make oil companies pay an extra 3% surcharge. Her idea would bring in an extra $64 million annually to the provincial coffers and while she said she would legislate it in, that is likely illegal and could see oil companies taking the province to court. She admitted she did not check with lawyers or read the contracts already in place to see if it is possible to do. While the party may not have had chance of forming a government and implementing their ideas having a $64 million mistake in your platform doesn't come off to good. Here is an interview of Lorraine Michael being questioned on it. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nlvotes2011/story/2011/09/25/nl-on-point-lorraine-michael-episode2-925.html
  19. No MP should send flirtatious emails like these to anyone.
  20. CBC has their election website up! Newfoundland and Labrador Votes 2011
  21. Looking at the candidates in more detail Mulcair is really the only one cut out to be prime minister, though hopefully it will never happen.
  22. She was one of the most high profile female Liberal MPs from 2008-2011 and would be better known within the Liberal Party. She has been lobbied by Liberals to run for the presidency and has stated there would be major changes if she was elected. Had she not been defeated in May her name would definitely be brought up for the leadership.
  23. Siobhan Coady will likely announce her candidacy soon and I hope she wins.
