  1. Oh yea, I remember that. Looks like it didn't stick.
  2. Then I wouldn't assume there is no intention to enforce polluter pay, especially in lieu of the fact that this has become the new NDP M.O. since Mulcair mentioned the dutch disease.
  3. If a 'united right' can be consistently relegated to a minority government, I would keep them split. It has the added benefit of ensuring neither left party veers too far off ideologically.
  4. Ego? No thanks. If NDP garner enough support for a majority, a merger is pointless. Hell, if they reduce the CPC to a minority, a merger is also pointless as the two can vote similarly and defeat the minority government anyway. One thing we do know for sure is that if a leftist party screws up, people have no where to run but to the right if there is a merger.
  5. Not really. There is more substance to the hypocrisy if the person actually endorsed some hypocritical sentiment. In which case, there is no evidence to suggest that Mulcair would not support polluter pay everywhere it should be enforced - especially since it appears that is part of the NDP agenda. http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2012/05/25/the-ndp-position-on-the-environment-make-the-polluter-pay/
  6. Huh.. So it is more complicated than this 'hypocrisy' Manning would like us to believe. Why am I not surprised? Just because he hasn't commented specifically on Hydro yet, does not mean he doesn't endorse polluter pay for that type of energy production. I'm pretty sure the NDP stance is that polluter pay should be enforced in all areas where regulation has been ignored. You have to give them credit for getting some jabs in. Unfortunately for them, these criticisms tend to become dismissed within days.
  7. I agree that we should be enforcing polluter pay on all energy endeavors, but just because Mulcair focused primarily on the oilsands, does not mean he would not enforce polluter pay in other areas. He's already mentioned the costs of the shale and fracking business in other parts as well.
  8. Here's the answer.. http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/story/2012/06/08/harper-europe-socialism.html
  9. As far as I can tell, he only mentioned that Harper should participate with G20 nations on possible solutions. This could mean as much as just talking to them and providing suggestions. No mention at all so far about us "bailing out Europe."
  10. Sounds like you're pitting east vs. west with such divisive comments.
  11. May 2012 Poll averages from 308 % NDP - 34.9% CPC - 33.8% LIB - 19.1% Seats CPC - 140 NDP - 118 LIB - 44 BLOC - 6 http://www.threehundredeight.blogspot.ca/
  12. Expansion != shutting down. Sierra recently made comments in a similar vein to Mulcair's aspirations to make development sustainable.
  13. Spiderfish, none of those environmental organizations actually want the oil sands shut down completely. Most of them don't want pipelines, or development in environmentally sensitive areas, but none have really expressed to completely shut down development. Read your own links.
  14. A 21K cheque was written to a voter contact organization and looks to constitute elections overspending. One hopes this is just another unsubstantiated smear campaign coming from Elections Canada. Conservative robocalls defender under investigation for election offences
  15. Tories were aware that the F-35 was completely unaffordable last year. Tories knew last year shopping list of military equipment was ‘unaffordable,’ documents show
  16. I tend to upset some of my politico buddies by comparing him to Mitt Romney - but if you look at how he reflects the modern NDP voter, it makes sense. Socialism is not the main dish anymore for this party.
  17. I reject the premise of this argument. Mulcair appears to be a fairly moderate and centrist leader. I don't think the extreme measures you're peddling will actually take effect.
  18. Where is the proof? Where does Mulcair get the nerve to make such blanket statements? Mulcair blames Harper for East-West divisions - Politics - CBC News
  19. Turns out he's a Breivik Jr. Accused killer Luka Rocco Magnotta linked to far-right U.S. white supremacists
