It's pretty hard for the American gov't to treat their citizens like the Chinese gov't treats theirs, because the citizens of Dallas have something that the citizens of Shanghai don't. To you that's nuttiness, to Americans it's freedom and self-determination. To each their own.

If enough Canadians were talking about it then the topic would be too large to ignore. It didn't get much traction though. Aside from Bill Maher I don't think that there was a diehard leftist in either country that acknowledged Trudeau's hatemongering or any of the fascist actions of our his gov't. Most leftists do everything they can to ignore/deny/denounce this topic. I guess you could say that basically anyone who blindly follows covid fear porn and vax propaganda saw the fascist actions of our gov't as heroic.

I think that most Canadians would say that "If you're accusing other people of racism, misogyny, xenophobia, ageism, religious bigotry, etc then you're obviously a really good person, and it is blasphemy for anyone to say anything bad about you." A large minority of Canadians have a really hard time wrapping their heads around the fact that freezing people's bank accounts for supporting a peaceful protest is fascist in nature. They won't even believe that a peaceful protester was beaten by police after they surrendered on their knees when you show them video of it. It is reminiscent of how a frog would jump out if you put them in hot water, but if you put them in cold water and turn up the heat they'll stay there until they die: Canadians will believe in Trudeau until they realize that they're living in a country with absolutely no freedoms or human rights left whatsoever.

The FBI didn't really investigate her emails though. They also let her say "I don't know" to every single question they asked her. They also did nothing about evidence that she is known to have destroyed after it was subpoenaed. They also gave her associates prosecutorial immunity in exchange for nothing at all.
