  1. As we are in the Ontario 2018 election, I thought this would be worth discussing. Sums me up as a Con very well. This sums me up a
  2. I would argue "qualified" folks. Sure, if you are on your way up the career ladder a MPP title is great. That said for those of us already making twice the salary who could make more, there's no way in hell we'd leave our jobs to become a MPP. While INCOME IS NOT an indicator as far as whether or not one would be successful serving the public, I think it is safe to say it is an indicator to years in the workplace, and the more you make, the more years you probably have spent "at work". I'd rather have a seasoned MPP than the trifecta of kids running for the Niagara seat.
  3. Interestingly enough most polls report that Wynne won, and I concur. She did well, although apparently that didn't mean anything to voters.
  4. Too bad, I was looking forward to reading your so called novel. Well, technically, that number was a lot higher than 40% if you really think it through, but clearly numbers aren't your forte. And based on today's poll, calling those individuals an idiot is actually not that far off, given the fact that many Liberal supporters have changed their voting intentions.
  5. Sure, write said book, and I may just take the time to write the book on the Liberals track record. Idiots voted him out of office.

  7. Corrupt scandalist Harper? Are you kidding me? If you're even comparing Harper to the Liberal days of the sponsorship scandal, please do tell, how much did both governments cost the taxpayor? You're literally comparing a prostitute's sexual number versus a virgins. They're not even on the same planet.
  8. Yes, perhaps I should have clarified. I'm staring at two things when it comes to polls. 1) Data points (datapoints!) 2) Interpretation from a polling agency based on the results gleaned. Therefore, I hate it when media companies say "Doug Ford is in the lead". Well no, that's not a fact. "According to polling data on May 27th, 2018, Ipsos ran a poll and based on the information they received, it would suggest that Doug Ford is projected to get 68 seats and thus the PC is suggested to win a majority government". -that's a fact/accurate statement. Unfortunately people butcher facts and it gets spun a thousand million ways, and it pisses me the fuck off. People need to be more accurate in their statements, but unfortunately people are dumb and aren't specific enough with their words. And that's fine, but I would expect/hope our media still knows how to write.
  9. I don't think you and I are talking about the same thing. The data, as presented by each individual poll, is black and white. You are referencing "outcomes", and that is not driven just by data, but looking beyond data and making assumptions to then indicate what an outcome may be and the probability of said outcome.
  10. Sure, but the total depressing salary is a reason not to, that and the fact that you have 0 job security.
  11. No, I am lauding someone who made a about socialists which summed up my thoughts. That said, my view on polls is different. I don't believe in any polls that clearly do not fit the line of best fit, but if the polls indicate that a party I do not support is winning, then well, the data is what it is, and my view is that I can hope on election day that things turn out in my favour, but if it doesn't, there's no point in arguing in data. Data is black and white, period.
  12. Where the hell is the data behind this poll? https://globalnews.ca/news/4236201/ontario-election-poll-ndp-soften-pc-lead/ I've looked everywhere. I don't want the fluffy all up stuff in the article, I'm looking for the detailed report.
  13. On what basis are you assuming that there is such a group? A poll is a poll is a poll, that's all it is.
  14. What are you going on about now? Your immediate assumption is "the rich don't pay taxes". Well, actually, those who make >$50K a year pay 88.4% of all income taxes (in Ontario). Your immediate assumption that the rich are tax evaders is insulting, because you wouldn't have money to spend on your little pet projects if we didn't pony up. Yes, there are folks who bury their money in Panama and wherever else but they are the exception, not the norm. I have no issues with full said cost-accounting and monitoring programs because if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to be scared of.
  15. I have no problems moving to a country, in this case from Canada, after I have repaid my debts as alleged by people like you by a factor of "X". I don't owe Canada anything, and more importantly I don't owe you anything. but you can be damn sure my money won't fund your grand schemes any longer. I disagree with your socialist views and I'm proud to say that the overwhelming majority of my friends and colleagues (all of us are in the 1-3%) have moved or are on our ways to moving to the US. I hate the fact that for years you have told us "don't like it, leave, otherwise shut up and pay taxes". I love the fact we're telling people like you....bye bye! Only idiots are socialists.
  16. You mean how terrible? http://www.frank-klees.on.ca/Newsroom/FS_WhatDoesAnMPPgetPaidOct_9_12.htm Teachers/cops/fire/ems folks have better pensions and salaries than our MPPs, or I guess your MPPs
  17. This is irrelevant and none of your business.
  18. I have paid over $50,000 per year in taxes for close to 7 years. So if you do care to know if I've repaid my debt, I have by a factor beyond your comprehension and WELL above what the taxpayers paid for to subsidize my education. So they've already made a killing off of me, but I refuse to continue giving my money to this socialist province and country. If I could do this all over again, I would have left Canada MUCH sooner to screw over said socialists who believe I'll just continue getting ass raped. No thanks.
  19. Can we please keep US politics out of this thread?
  20. http://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/lilley-ndp-leader-a-fan-of-chichi-shops Then there's this bullshit. Yeah, you NDP supporters have been paying for thousands of dollars per year for Horvath's clothes at Holt Renfrew and other places. I have no issue spending $3000 for a suit, nor should she, but she has been paying for it with YOUR money. Hypocrisy at its finest.
  21. You taxed me out of the country I grew up in. I didn't want to go, but you made it so unpleasant for me in this country that I had to. (no, not directed at you, you know what I mean). IMHO Canadian tax rates and the Canadian tax and spend excessiveness is immoral, so while I won't pretend to say what I am doing is right, what I can say is please stop pretending that you're morally superior (again, not directed at you, I'm just saying)
  22. The brain drain is alive and well, and if you don't see the flaw in your type of government that you want, then more people like me will leave. Don't you dare tax my eyeballs out of my head, and if you do/when you do, I'll laugh at you when I leave, just like several people before me. This is the problem with you high tax high spend types. You tax people so high that they eventually leave. Socialism stops working when you run out of other people's money, and it's people like you who have rammed this statement in my face for years "don't like it? leave. Otherwise, quit your whining and pay your taxes". Bye bye.
  23. After the urging by several friends to run as a MPP in Ontario if I had decided to stay here, I looked into the job, the salary, and the benefits. HOLY MOLY. These guys are woefully underpaid, and their pensions SUCK. In many ways, being a teacher in Ontario is better, or a police officer. SERIOUSLY. Look, I'm all for cutting public spending but it really shouldn't surprise anyone that our MPPs all suck.
  24. Corporate leeches don't pay taxes - and thus, don't exist. The amount of oxymoron in your post is enough to drown to scuba diver above water. Corporations also employ people, and in the case of my employer, over a hundred thousand people, mostly all making 6 figure jobs and paying taxes (in the top 3% of income). Wow, such a nasty thing a corporation is, eh? Holy moly. Get a life!
