Distaste for bank mergers remains Canadians by an almost two to one margin oppose bank mergers so the Martin Liberals keep this polling data secret and only through Freedom of Information was the information exposed. Rape Charge Follows Marriage to a 14-Year-Old Well we don't seem to have enough problems so now we are going to invent some. I have to agree with the people that say why don't they go after the real criminals. The amount of denial around teen sexuality is unbelievable. People need to stop living in this fantasy world.

Conservatives Set Up Crime Commission

Here's another case. What's going here with sentencing anyway? No jail for sex abuser in Jehovah's Witness case -
This has got to have been one of the most stupid decisions ever made in Canada privizing BC Ferries. It is incredible the number of breakdowns that BCers have experienced recently, and there are rumours floated around that these mechanical problems are due to proper lack of maintenance because of managment performance bonuses. We have had enough of these problems. It is time to sack the President, remember the buck stops here, eh, and nationalize the ferries so that people in BC will have a reliable ferry service once again. Tide of troubles at B.C Ferries

Conservatives Set Up Crime Commission

Here is a situation that the Conservatives might want to investigate with their crime commission. I don't know a lot about the court system but how can you kill someone in Canada and not be sent to prison is beyond me?: B.C. woman avoids prison in death of secret lover -
Maple Trees Sometimes I really wonder. I think there are as many maples in Westen Canada as there are in the East. As far as I know there are maple trees throughout Canada. Does anyone know where they do not grow in Canada?

The US says screw NAFTA on Softwood Lumber
mirror replied to canuckcat's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Well, well, the Americans are finally starting to pay attention, and it seems that Canada is not the only one have trouble with these agreements with the US. Here's a story in the LA Times. It seems like the Bryd amendment is at the root cause of most of these disputes. As I suspected the US are causing the entire problem: Unwitting Victims Of A Trade Battle -
Canada is going to be impacted by Katrina, even out here in Canada's rainforest which has not seen much rain this summer by-the-way. We are probably going to be paying higher gas prices at the pumps because of the devestation, and could deliver a shock to the Norh American economy.

Well the jury is in. Here are the results of a Macleans unscientific poll. The Globe runs unscientific polls on a regular basis, and although they are unscientific they generally provide some kind of an indicator of how Canadians are feeling on the various issues of the day.

The wonder is why anybody in their right mind ever renewed his contract. That post, and that programme, are sad indeed. The money that goes into the CBC is in no way whatsoever connected to the money that goes out (to pay for contracts). The great disconnect. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually Bill is one of English Canada's cultural icons.

NDP Calls For Halt To Sale Of Terasen Gas
mirror replied to mirror's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So, in other words, we are to let into Canada any corporation for profits, no matter how bad a company they are. I don't think so. What's to Negotiate, Mt Wilkins? B.C. chamber urges NAFTA action -

NDP Calls For Halt To Sale Of Terasen Gas

Does this sound like the kind of people we want running our gas pipelines in Canada? I don't think so. Kinder Morgan Marked by Spills -
I never thought this idea of a referendum for Quebecers alone to decide whether or not they should remain part of Canada was a good idea in the first place. and I still think the whole idea is absurd, because if Canada is divisble, so is Quebec divisible, and all of Ungava and other parts of Quebec would have to be returned to Canada if Quebec ever were to leave. But now that the genie is out of the bottle we can't very well say to the West they cannot vote to separate while allowing Quebec the right to do so. And the Western Bloc party why not? And initially I also thought they had a good website. Everything was fine up until that point. It was when I saw who the leader was that I realized this was going to become a nightmare. Doug Christie, as leader of a Canadian political party, is probably the worst choice possible. Unbelievable!

Well finally at least some of these political parties are suggesting some concrete action to deal with us being jerked aound by the US with this useless NAFTA agreement. I really would like to know what the different political parties are proposing to address this crisis. So far we have had: Liberals cancel NAFTA softwood lumber talks with US Consevatives attack US Ambassador NDP call for early resumption of Parliament and a halt to the sale of Terasen Gas to Kinder Morgan.

No more Mr. Nice Guy Another Pierre E Trudeau. Not bloody likely. This guy sounds just like another American apologist of which unfortunately Canada seems to have way too many, particularly in the realm of politics.
