Aren't our rivers, forests, lakes, oceans getting cleaner over the past couple of decades? I look for evidence to the contrary? These fanatics keep predicting the end of things based upon a need for secondary impulses and ignoring the basic REAL problems - such as muslim intolerance of the othe cultures - that we face. I nice luxury in a great society. Let's wake up to the real problems and stop pounding the drum for the false ones.

Where do we draw the "tolerance line"?
JerrySeinfeld replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
no - Vancouver, land of Gays and Muslims -
Get over it. The US isn't pulling out. At least someone has the balls to take on these f*ckers. Meanwhile press editors in the west make up excuses for not printing cartoons. When do we officially call ourselves muslim apoligists? Bush will not succomb to intimidation. At least someone has balls. As europe deteriorates into a Sharia state and Canada, bewildered, wonders where to turn, the US stand hard and fast for justice and liberty of women in the middle east.

Harper to be investigated by ethics commissioner

You have to get over this shit. there isn't going to be a federal election for two years. -
Where are the "passive" muslims in all this?
JerrySeinfeld replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
No ... we're one hell of a lot worse because we've lost our will to survive. That's way below the will to conquer. I laugh out loud at those who think this is about america. The whole jealous world can't wait to blame america. WHAT A SHOCK to blame someone who isn't of EUROPEAN DESCENT for the world's ills. -
Hehehe...a real conundrum for lefties...

Where are the "passive" muslims in all this?
JerrySeinfeld replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
No one will. I don't think every Muslim has the capacity for violence (chickens & the squeamish know no religion), but it seems almost too obvious that just about every Muslim is happier than hell to see someone sticking it to "whitey"... to quote that great civil rights activist Malcolm X. (I was shocked to discover that Canadian schools are teaching that Malcolm X is a hero ... when I remeber his "kill whitey" rants ... but I digress). They see a chance to be the man on the stronger horse (to quote our second valued human rights crusader ... Osama) and they love it. Why not ... who doesn't? But we're the fools for pretending it is not so. I heard a great thought about the "acquiescence of muslims". If we in the west are ready to succomb to pressures from islam about cartoons...are we not simply acquiescent muslims in the end? If we don't speak out in defense of our freedoms, are we any better than those "quiet" muslims who don't speak out against terrorism? In other words...conquered? -
So all the writers out ther (and ther are many) claim that the accts of terrorism throughout the world are solely acts of a marginal, radical group and doesn't represnt islam as a whole. Yet everywhere we look in world conflict its muslims against america, muslims against israel, muslims against mongolia...muslims against australian tourists in bali, muslims against salmon rushdie, muslims against dutch cartoonists. My question? if most muslims are not in favor of this behavior, then WHY have we not heard a MASSIVE protest amongst the "peaceful" muslim community? This is a community of 1.2 Billion people. If most muslims were against this behavior, you'd think we'd hear about it SOMEWHERE???? And i mean in MASSIVE amounts???? where are the masses of muslims protesting against terrorism? WHERE ARE THEY? I submit that there are two types of muslims: those that are radical violent terrorists and those that are afraid to speak against the first. Please please...someone prove me wrong.
-
Well, given I'm simply relating the stated objectives of Al Qaeda. But I guess you know better than they do. Whatever. You realize you're talking about 1.2 billion people, right? If the Americans are keeping Iraq sane, why are so many Iraqis killing other Iraqis? 1.2 billion people who apparently have nothing bad to say about the violence and terrorism being committed in the name of islam. where are the clerics speaking out my friend?

This underlines the fallacious nature of the defense of the occupation. First: by acknowledging the current state of strife, you concede that the U.S. prescence is largely ineffectual when it comes to maintaining security. They aren't even in the equation. So the question then becomes are they making the situation worse by being there? I'm inclined to say yes. Islam is a religion, a philosophy: a concept. Concepts don't have intentions. Now, do Muslims (the practicioners of Islam) intend to conquer infidels and sprad their religion by violence? Maybe some do. But most don't. Indeed, the core belief of Islamic radicalism (and its adherents such as Osama bin laden) is that the Muslim world is fighting a defensive war against Western imperialism. That's why you hear Osama talk about re-establishing the Caliphate in the Middle East, not in Oshawa. HAHAHAHA! As far as the whole "western imperialistic" theory you are living in a dreamworld my friend. And as for what "most" Islamics want, it doesn't matter. There are two types of muslims: radical violent fanatics and those who don't speak out against them out of fear.

You make it sound like getting an abortion is like getting a mole removed. Aren't you in favor of LESS abortions?

The Kurds are living peacefully in the North. The fact that 16% of them approve of attacks on American forces is still quite surprising. Differentiating between the Shiites and Sunnis is interesting, but the conclusion is the same. 41% is still a VERY high number of people to be saying they approve of Attacks on American forces. Do you agree that an American presence is increasing violence? you guys are WAY off. US needs to EXPAND its role in the middle east. Iran should be the next stop. They should consider flattening HAMAS too. this war of cultures is going to take a long term committment and will make the cold war look like a cakewalk. its us versus them: a tolerant, free society against an intolerant society. if we don't stop the growth of islam now, it will infect the world and we'll ALL be living under Sharia.

Is the GDP corporatist propaganda?
JerrySeinfeld replied to quinton's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
no. debt is one of the KEY ingredients of economic growth. where would new housing starts be without personal debt? -
YES! i'm glad this cartoon came about. it proves that publishing the cartoons is not just a stunt, but a serious political point. and muslims in protest have helped to prove the point: in a free society you can express your point of view, but you can't shut others up just because you disagree with them. We don't live in a muslim theocratic state.......yet...........

Liberal Daycare Program A Myth
JerrySeinfeld replied to Hicksey's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
On this I strongly disagree. I WANT my daughter's childcare giver to be unlicenced. How I want my children being cared for and how the Government might want are not necessarily the same thing. I need to know that if/when the two might conflict, it is MY wishes that will be heeded, not the Government's. I agree, Bryan. A government license can only lead to government sanctioned curriculum....next thing you know my son is learning about how its ok for tinky winky the gay teletubby to play with handsome poolboys...all in the name of tolerance and sensitivity. -
What's going on in Alberta?
JerrySeinfeld replied to Conservative1's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Dude here is the real deal: I just LEFT Alberta for the Lower mainland which is AWESOME. The other day i played 9 holes in the morning and skiied the mountains in the afternoon! The politics here suck (everyone is a limpwristed liberal). Alberta is the PLACE TO BE if you want to start a life, live well, earn alot of cash and f*ck the rest of the country lol. You can live in Calgary or Edmonton in a beautiful two story home for PEANUTS compared to other places. Plus, the low taxes and low cost opf living allow for plenty of leftobver cash to go south once or twice to split up the at times BRUTAL winters (and very long ones). Personally I'll take the higher taxes and cost of living to live in the world's most beautiful city (Vancouver), but Alberta is a decent spot to build a life and raise a family. -
The ironly your first paragraph against that next sentence almost made me fall down. Or is that hypocrisy? Ahem... Uhhhh...could you please enlighten us with an example from your experience in Canada? Or are you just going to use these fictitious *experiences* of yours derail the conversation. Like the CBC having an *agenda* CBC has an agenda. What tin-foil hat nonsense. You're half-right. The CBC is so entrenched in it's Toronto-Centric, Nanny State thinking it doesn't even KNOW that it has an agenda!

Is the GDP corporatist propaganda?
JerrySeinfeld replied to quinton's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
"Corporatist propaganda requires corporatist collusion. I don't think all the companies in Canada get together and find out how we'll convince everyone that they are richer." haha - no that's the Liberals' job. -
so threatening violence is basically the solution to anything we don't like? if I don't like porn I can threaten violence. then anyone distributing porn should be charged for inciting violence? if I don't like marijuana then anyone distributing marijuana can be charged with inciting violence? what a joke your excuse for logic is. if we take your route, we give in to intimidation and the extremist muslims have conquered us as is their intention.

The Sun(Of course it's a blow up doll.) National Review---- Steyn's column I like Steyn's quote, in typical stinging satyrical, yet accurate, Steyn fashion: "If I were a Muslim, I'd be "hurt" and "humiliated" that the revered prophet's name is given not to latex blowup males but to so many real blowup males: The leader of the 9/11 plotters? Mohammed Atta. The British Muslim who self-detonated in a Tel Aviv bar? Asif Mohammed Hanif. The gunman who shot up the El Al counter at LAX? Heshamed Mohamed Hedayet. The former U.S. Army sergeant who masterminded the slaughter at the embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania? Ali Mohamed. The murderer of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh? Mohammed Bouyeri. The notorious Sydney gang rapist? Mohammed Skaf. The Washington sniper? John Allen Muhammed. If I were a Muslim, I would be deeply offended that the prophet's name is the preferred appellation of so many killers and suicide bombers on every corner of the earth."

Islam, gays, abortion, womens rights and tolerance
JerrySeinfeld replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
The only difference being: if your the islamic, left wing socialists will apologize for your beliefs and defend them under the banner of multiculturalism, but if you're the social conservative you are criticized as a neocon fanatic. HAHA you fell right into it. -
We need to take a stand against muslims or any group that tries to curtail freedoms for which our ancestors fought and died for
-
I didn't see the footage. I heard a radio report about a Saint-Mary philosophy professor who posted the cartoons on his office door, withdrew them but refused to apologize. Then, when he asked how to say goodbye in Arabic, a protester answered by giving the Arabic words for "I apologize". When he repeated politely, but unknowingly the words, the crowd applauded. He had apologized. The English CBC reported this as a sly joke, "Truth speaking to Power". ---- Jerry, you have a point. I was appalled when I heard the English CBC radio report. so he apologized? what a weakling joke! why should he have to apologize
