  1. Exactly. What people these types of socialists never seem to get is that rasing taxes on businesses is the worst possible thing you could to for the creation of jobs during a downturn. Lower taxes means more investment means more jobs means bigger pies for everyone. Socialists can't conceive of bigger or more pies. They see the world with a one dimensional, never changing size of pie which must be cut up into different size pieces by none other than the government. I used to think the US refused to change to metric or universal health care and such because it was flexing it's economic muscle saying to the world: this is how we do things, and it works just fine! But now with Barry Obama on the verge of victory, it appears they are just a few decades late on an impending disastrous experiment with socialism, one most of the other G8 countries in the world have already tried turned away from.
  2. So was Baywatch and global warming alarmism.
  3. Actually, the real wonder is that McCain is still in this race. That says more about Obama than it does McCain. With Bush's national approval rating of <30% and an electorate looking for new blood, it's astoundign that the mainstream press is having to excerpt as much effort as they are to drag Obama across the finish line. This guy is the Messiah? Then why are his polliing numbers barely hovering at 50%? Your critique is off the mark. In 2004 Ohio was polling for a 6-point Ohio victory for John Kerry as late as October 31. Bush won Ohio. Hussein Osama still has to get out the "black vote" and the "youth vote" - difficult tasks if decades of history is any indicator. These groups always show up a plenty during telephone polling, but getting them to show up to the polling station is always another matter - or at least has been invariably. Not saying McCain can pull it off, but to write such a scathing obit at this juncture is obviously unobjective.
  4. Let's leave aside opinions on GW Bush for a moment. I for one think he's great. The ignorant masses disagree. SO what. Let's just talk about strategy for a minute. Political Strategy. In two months, George W Bush will vanish from the playbook as a lightening rod of liberal left wing politics forever. I noticed even the Liberals in CANADA tried to tar Harper with the "Bush paint" so retitively used by the world's left wing appeasing environazis to advance their own sinister agendas. But with Bush gone, what are they going to do now? What in heaven's name will comprise the body of 90% of their future election advertising? Just wondering.
  5. Strange. I keep being told saddam had no weapons
  6. I think we should start calling him "Teflon Barry". You find he's spent 20 years attending a racist church that says "GOD DAMN AMERICA"? "This isn't the Reverened Wright I knew." And the press buys it. Hang out with radical bombers? "This isn't the Bill Ayers I knew." And the press buys it. Wife says, after her husband has a chance to win the nomination "this is first time in my adut life I've been proud to be an american" "That's not what I MEANT to say." And the press buys it. Teflon Barry: nothin sticks to him.
  7. Isn't this thread about Obama? He's got a blank resume so all we have to go on is his very questionable associations. 20 years with a racist pastor as his mentor. Political campaign launched in the living room of a terrorist. Radical past. RadicalFriends. Radical presidency? Oh - unless he all of a sudden changed. But is that CHANGE we can believe in?
  8. What a stupid statement. This is what lefties have no clue about. They can't discern between someone's own private money and government confiscation. They think its the same thing. That's why Obama is so dangerous. He thinks he can "spread everyone's wealth around" better than someone can spread their own wealth around."
  9. Yes she does..and it IS nice! I think it's great. Anyway, the topic is her charitable giving compared to Joe the Shmoe who likes giving away taxpayer money instead of his own. That's the dangerous thing about lefties. They espouse POLICY that makes them seem "nicer" human beings, but when compared to their conservative counterparts, they are not.
  10. I think Melanie Philips has the best answer for your post: The media would have a field day. The campaign would be a non-starter - a la David Duke.
  11. That's awesome. I can't wait to see Joe try to wax bluecollar on THIS one.
  12. Hey Obamatrons: Newsflash. Free born private citizens or organizations can speand their own money however they want. At least until Obama takes over in January. Meantime, is Joe Biden's $1,000 per week first-class Amtrak seat is paid for using PUBLIC dollars. Is this what the great Messiah means when he says "spread the wealth around"? This financial meltdown is just the shock the marxists need. The rest of the world tried socialism and turned away. Now as the rest of the world moves right of centre, the financial crisis is pushing Americans in a dangerous direction. Obama, together with his blank resume, un checked past and questionable associations is very scary. As he sits down with Ahmedinejad over non-precondition high tea, will his response be the same as his was about Reverend Wright or Bill Ayers? When the mushroom cloud rises over Tel Aviv, will we all be fed the same old line: "This isn't the ahmedinejad I knew." He's either secretly militant or incredibly Naive. EIther way, not a good fit for Leader of the Free world.
  13. Ah - you missed it. Let me put it a little simpler for ya. See: McCain was the main champion of the surge. For years he criticized the prosecution of the war (how it was waged). McCain backed and championed the idea of a troop surge when everyone in the media, the dems and even a lot of republicans were abondoning ship and saying "bring the troops home now, we've lost" Obama's good buddy Harry Reid declared the war "lost". Unquote. And Obama voted against McCain's surge. Now we are seeing that McCain was clearly correct, his judgement sound and we are winning. Of course, that's not a story. That's called bias, my friend.
  14. Having visited Ontario many times I can confidently say: Ontario is a dump. In term of being represented better, that's hilarious. The west has been saying that to deaf ears for decades. As long as Ontario was picking the winner and owning the federal government, everything was fine. Frankly I'm quite enjoying seeing the rest of Canada gain some power for a change. Actually, As I write this I'm realizing how poetic it would be to see a "golden horseshoe" party. You'd consistently have just enough seats to form an opposition, never quite making it to a majority. Welcome to the rest of our world! Bring it on!
  15. Well, now that we're winning, who would know? For the the left leaning major networks it's a non-story. It's only worthy of coverage if we're losing and they can use it against the republicans. Now that we're winning they've moved on to new reasons-du-jour to hate the republicans.
  16. Obama's hard core left wing socialist agenda, peppered with a racist mentor, a terrorist patrner in "community organizing" is dangerous and should be held to more scrutiny. I can't believe the media would spend so much time "investigating" false claims about sarah palin's librarian. Then unleash the hounds upon poor Joe the Plumber who doesn't want Obama to "spread the wealth around" (ie. socialism). And then they spend about five minutes on Obama's association with a terrorist, a left wing militant group and a 20 year relationship with a racist, marxist pastor. Whoa. I love this quote from Melanie Phillips:
  17. Indeed it's unbelieveable what has been giong on. Total gloss over. Doesn't anyone care that this creep - WORM - is gonig to be sitting in the oval office? This is freaking SCARY. Lefties like the liberal party always like to put together "scare" campaigns about their right wing opponents. But this guy truly is: scary. I can't believe he's pulled the wool over so many eyes. This is truly a scary thing, that Barack could actually get his hands on the presidency. Have you seen his wife? She's pure evil.
  18. This man has spent the better part of his political career being consistently ultra-underesitmated by his opponents, and then turning that misperception on it's head to consistently hand defeat to his adversaries. Bush is a two term president. Saddam Hussein is dead. Iraq war is on the verge of victory. Tousands of Terrorists are behind bars indefinitely in Guanatamo without access of their traditional escape clauses: "human rights" claims / illgotten Canadian..er.. foreign passports / accusations of abuse / various other tactics recommended in Terrorist handbooks. Oil prices are tumbling, on the backs of a souring US economy - shrinking the power of states such as Saudi Arabi, Iran and Russia. Texas Oil companies have made a killing in the past 8 years. He's basically gotten everything he could have wanted. Granted the US economy is suffering right now, but recession do happen periodically. How can people keep calling this guy a moron? He's basically sitting on a clean sweep.
  19. Oh really? Certainly there has been a commodities correction. But it's an offshoot of the US recession which will certainly hurt Ontario more than Alberta. If the US goes to shit it's Ontario who will suffer most. Alberta and western Canada still has a world market for it's raw materials and energy, including BRIC countries Brazil India China. And selling it in US dollars (the currency world oil is priced in) has just become alot more profitiable at $0.80 canadian dollar. Certainly things will slow down some in the west due to lower world prices, but Ontario is a manufacturing based economy living in the past century. If you guys think the all of a sudden the Chinese and Indian economies (your competition) are going to stop building cheap cars, electronics, furniture etc. etc. etc. then you are living a delusional existence along with Buzz Hargrove. The days of cheap energy are over, despite short term corrections. But the sun is permanently setting on Ontario's assembly line life. You're as screwed as, or more so than, Detroit.
  20. GDP is a measure of economic growth per province. The measure you want to look at is per capita net contributions via taxes from each province. Alberta is by far the leader. Meantime you should read this: TD economics report saying Ontario will be getting handouts as a "have-not" province by 2010. Link to Financial Post story.
  21. That's just what this country needs: another have not province showing up in parlaiment with it's nose in the government trough! YAY! This topic is just another veiled attempt at - yet again - stealing from the west. I think I'd have more respect for central Canadians if they just sent quebecois lawyers (ie. primeministers) to Alberta every April 30 in a tank equipped with a big trailer for the cash he steals. Why don't we all just face reality and change the name of our country to "BCALBERTAANDSEVERALBABIESSUCKLINGONTHETEET" A bit long, but if the shoe fits...
  22. The big bee in the bonnet of Ahmadinejad and the other mid-east kooks seems to be Israel - it's existence in the Mid East. Personally, I think it's just a lightening rod - the same way Hitler directed hatred toward the Jews as a method of dictatorship ("direction of popular discontent"). Having seen enough footage and read enough direct quotes from radical fundamentalist Muslims, I'm convinced their goal goes a lot deeper than getting Israel out of Mid East. It's pretty clear these people hate anyone who isn't like them. They want them dead or converted or subordinated. And they want to destroy freedom, the USA, and conquer the world. That is pretty clear. I think it would be a very interesting test to see how these kooks would react if we all of a sudden agreed to move Israel to, say Germany. Man. If all of these nutjobs weren't floating on oil, how wonderful it would be to face them down in the absence of an Israeli state. Can you say obliteration?
  23. I like this post alot. It very closely mirrors my own experience and I wuold venture to say quite a few other conservatives out there. The old saying "if you're not a liberal when you're young, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative when you're older, you've got no brain" rings so true. The tired old liberal progressive "arguments" ring so strongly for a youngster with big grandiose ideals. It "feels good" to adopt these ideals. And even better, you never have to achieve anything concrete. Just adopt the ideology, grow a beard, criticize people with money and you're automatically "above" those lowly workaday conservatives who actually build the country and pay for your "activist" lifestyle. It's actually a dangerous ideology, however, because by it's very nature it basically says "if only we had more power and money we would fix everything" - ie. we are smarter than everyone and should be in government. That's where the Obama parallel kicks in hard. Unfortunately, these people never grow past the idea that when you start actually building something meaningful in the world - a family, a home, a community, a career, a business - you learn to fear people who want to "fix everything for you." Rather you would rather just be left alone in peace. Obama and his ilk - and many people on this forum such as Black Dog or American Woman - never grew past this level intellectually. They never actually grew to the level of self reliance and understanding that being left alone by the government is actually a good thing. I'm glad you shared this story, because, again, it mirrors the great divide: those who never grew out of the "feel good" ideals of government largesse and "fixing everything" versus those who actually got on with building for themselves and wanting to be left alone. That divide, by the way, is why most political debates fundamentally favor left wing politicians: when asked the question "what are you going to do about _____ ?", the lefties have always got a long laundry list of expensive plans for spending everyones tax money. The conservatives, ideologically, don't always believe "doing something" is the answer, so their answers about what government is "going to do" always makes for less exciting television. The really funny and tragic part about debating many lefties, like Black Dog etc., on this forum is that most of them don't realize that a lot of us conservatives have already been down the road they're still stuck on, have already used the same arguments they're using, have moved along to greater things, and hence are quite bored by their attempts at success.
  24. Maybe it's just me, but doesn't there seem to be something seriously wrong with our country when: A. The Bloc gets 10% of the popular vote and 50 seats. B. The ND gets 18% of the vote and 37 seats? C. The Greens get only 3% less popular vote than the Bloc and get NO, Nil Zero Zilch seats? Is it time we showed Quebec the door? Some other "quebec related" thoughs: - Harper would have had a serious majority in the absence of Quebec. - Dion's "Green Shift" pitch was essentially a cash grab from Alberta and a re-transfer to quebec (and Ontario) - Early in his political career, Harper received serious criticism for his poor french skills, and even for his attempts to "learn more french" by attending classes in Quebec, while Dion fumbles through the English language (yes, that OTHER official language) during a very public TV interview and the Liberals accuse anyone who criticizes of "personal, viscious, insensitive racist attacks". Double standard. - Constant lecturing by Quebecois media pundits (did you watch the CBC last night) reminding us that "obviously Stephen Harper hasn't realized the "importance" of Quebec in Canadian politics" (holy shit could you be any more condescending, arrogant and elitist). - Doesn't anyone give a shit anymore that the entire province has, for decades, consistently elected a vast majority of MPs who's stated goal is the break up of this country? Isn't there some way we can ban a political party who's goal is to kill the country? Isn't that treason or something? And who needs two languages on their milk cartons, anyway? Out here on the west coast it would at least make a lot more sense to have English and Mandarin or English and Hindi. Shouldn't we find a way to whip these frenchies into line? I bet if we all got creative we could find a way. I mean, it's like a spoiled child. Imagine how special YOU would feel if you kept whining and complaining about leaving and people kept begging you to stay. That big Canada rally before the referendum (1995?) was crap. Someone should have staged a paralle rally saying "GO QUEBEC GO!" Tough love. It's the only way. They have yet again ruined our democracy.
