  1. I have to admit, from time to time I am comepletely dumbfounded by the ideas and perecptions that are baselessly thrown around by some people on the left. This post by you is such a weak and transparent strawman that it doesn't even come across as "faux" credibility. We don't want to "tell you how to run the country". we just want to be left alone!
  2. Why would that make it harder? How exactly? I find that the more people like you try to glaze over every single transgression by a muslim men gunning his way through a jewish community centre, or blowing up a london tube or a madrid train, or a baliu nightclub or an american airplane or a mumbai hotel or a Toronto mosque preaching hatred and extremism or honour killings in England and Canada....etc.... the more you pretend there is no common thread and no problem, the more this kind of thinking will fester inside mosques and in our countries. Pointing out facts and common threads about violence around the world perpetrated by muslims against innocents isn't "demonization" Calling someone who does so a "racist" is.
  3. And this is different from other provinces how? We all want control of our own destiny. Somewhere along the line, Quebec developed a spoiled child" syndrome whereby they think somehow they're "more special" than any other province. This is precisely why the US state system is so much better than our federalist system. Each state can write it's own destiny to a large degree - at least, much larger degree than here in Canada.
  4. Your complete and utter lack of tolerance for other opinions lends to YOU moving... to George Orwell's 1984-land...or perhaps Nazi germany. This is the kind of thing we need to be careful of: a society that shuts people's opinions down when they're not mainstream. "You should move...yer opions ain't welcome here" - Ironically, sounds like something that would be uttered by pre-civil rights movement Alabaman, or Mississippian. This is precisely the very problem with central Canada. Everyone drinks the same kool-aid, everyone marches in step with the same left wing multi-culti union social program nanny-state muzaak. And when someone like me interrupts the broken record, you try to shut us up so you can continue your trance.
  5. Foundationless propaganda certainly is. You haven't made an argument. Your cause is baseless. You want to talk about problems? Start with a baseless cause with no arguments to back it up. THAT's a problem.
  6. Listen. I know that, for a period of time, a dictator can squeeze work, money and power away from his subjects. And, for a time, he can do this while convincing his subjects that they're enslaved "for the good of the country" - whatever that means. Just look at Kim Jong Il. Everyone in the country must refer to him as "Dear Leader" - and affectionate term designed to distract from the brutal conditions under which most of the citizens must live. Now I am not at all making a statement saying that Ontario or the east is Canada's "Kim Jong Il". It's not even close. However, the comparison is valid when it comes to this meaningless, mushy, emotions talk about the "greatness of Canada". As with Kim Jong Il, it may be great for him, but not for the rest. The same goes for the west. The pronouncements of "our great country" rings hollow when we have very little in common as regions and the west foots the bill without getting any say in how the country is run; ie. YOU may think it's great. Because it's great for YOU - on the recieiving end of our money. The only thinkg I can think of that bonds Western Canada with the rest of the country is Hockey, and we could all enjoy that as separate countries - as per how the rest of the world enjoys soccer.
  7. Nationalism is for chumps - it just causes problems. Let's talk about what makes sense. Costs and benefits. If Canada split up - we could certainly do it amicably. No doubt our borders would be as porous - or even moreso - than the 49th parallel. Everyone always thinks it has to be this tragic nasty affair. I would be willing to take on a reasonably negotiated share of the debt for the chance at a new country. But really, isn't the REAL tragic and nasty affair Canada itself? Just look at the commons in the past week as an example - and there are PLENTY more where that came from. It's like a disfunctional couple that just keeps going at it - fighting etc. instead of just opting for the peaceful solution: splitting up and moving on. As a country, we pride ourselves on the bickering and dysfunction that is this confederation. Is this something to rejoice? I say we set aside these petty emotions and reorganize things. The West would make a great country. Obviously Ontario is happy with itself and Quebec and ruling the roost - and I'm pretty sure the Maritimes are happy suckling any teet they can get their hands on. We could all get along as happy neighbours. WHy not?
  8. AB - don't even get into this BS with these two idiots. Everyone in the entire world nkows that Alberta is BY FAR a net contributor. It's a waste of time to even bother arguing with anyone who contradicts this OBVIOUS FACT.
  9. That's the problem with the left and brainwashed central Canada. You're so spoonfed with broad unspecific platitudes like "culture" and "diversity" you don't even know what it means to provide specific examples. To be clear: please provide some examples of "culture" and "diversity" that quebec contributes to the rest of Canada, and specifically, the west.???
  10. Look at this. Untrue broad brush generalizations. But by a lefty? go figure.
  11. Like what? Examples please.
  12. Or....we simply leave confederation and Quebec Money Failing Manufacturing Sector Lack of Natural Resources Will all be your problem, without "uncle Al" to sign the cheques anymore. I truly don't understand why Alberta doesn't wave it's wealth around a little more as leverage. I mean, Quebec does it all the time and they offer NOTHING to Canada, yet somehow...it works.
  13. Logical. Logical. Please. Help me see the light?!! I love it when I ask the question: "what are the befefits of Canada to the west" and the answer is, essentially: "Canada". that's a circular argument. With any decision comes a cost benefit analysis. I can't believe I've asked this question now several times and no answer on the "benefit" side has been forthcoming.
  14. excuse me for a moment before I answer that... (baaaaahahahahahahahahahahahaha )... ahem...ok. Quebec's separatist movement is futile intentionally. They never wanted to. Well I'm glad you brough that up - because that's the first thing as a republic we'd do! Elminate all of these useless, Trudeaupian progams and unionized make work projcets that the left wing and central Canada is so famous for.
  15. These statement seem to abound aplenty from those "federalists" out there trying to convince us all the Canada is good for the west. Yet, not surprisingly, no one has answer my simply, direct question with anything but emotional fluff. To me, that's either stupidity or ignorance or just plain brainwashing. So, yet again, I ask simply and directly: What are the benefits to staying in Canada, from the west's perspective?
  16. Look. Let's take emotion out of this. I just think it would be best for all if we split things up. There is no viable, economic, political reason for the West to stay in confederation that outweighs the benefits of leaving. Period. That should be enough. Simply saying "we're staying because we're already here" isn't an argument,.
  17. No. I don't. That's the point. That's what happens when you're on the losing end of abuse decade after decade my friend. Get it? I don't love this country, I hate it. It's a disgusting, despicable trough of power and greed in which the central and eastern Canadian provinces feed at our expense. That's become obvious. Clear enough for ya? Good for ontario. As reagan famously said: "this should be a country that has a government, not a government that has a country." For far too long it's been the latter in THIS country. Ontario is a PROVINCE that has GOVERNMENT that has a country. Despicable.
  18. We've got CHINA to do the manufacturing - on the cheap! No more protectionist union friendly tariffs designed to "create" (ie. prop up) obsolete, overpaid CAW jobs in the 905!!! can you say "FREAKING AWESOME'!!!!!? Instead, a true trade environment - our abundand natural resources without artificial poseur-style enviro restrictions - again imposed by elitist slef-important quebec style politicians - in exchange for china's cheap manufactured goods. Sianara overpriced union made Ontarian goods and their comensurate trade tariffs! Hello wealthy western republic of wealth, liberty and self-detrmination. Heck - if a bunch of republics can self-establish in nasty parts of the world like the former USSR and e4astern europe, surely we could do it here in peacful benign old Canada. Self-determination of small nation states is a fad - a trend around the world. It's EASY. There is only one embarassingly UNsuccessful secession movement these days around the world: Quebec. Why? They certainly could separate if they meant it. But they don't. It's all bullshit., They benefit from this perverse dominion. WE, on the other hand, DO NOT. Nobody, not one person, has yet to answer the question. WHat are the benefits?
  19. ? huh ? No. You didn't say anything. You just tried to pull out a bunch of nonsensical emotional heartstring hogwash - which by the way is the relied upon and predictable answer most people use when they don't have an answer to a direct question. So I ask it again, in plain english. What are the benefits (from a western perspective) to staying in Canada. We all know the benefits to Ontario: you control it the purse strings and the power. We all know the benefits to the maritimes and quebec (and soon Ontario): you get handouts. But what is are the benefits to the west?
  20. I think greater vancouver makes up about the same population as edmonton and clagary combined, so no it wouldn't be controlled by vancouver. plus, central van isquite liberal or NDP, but the suburbs are all pretty conservative. combine that with the conservative okanagan and alberta and you've got a pretty good balance. Someone wrote as a reply "because people there want to stay in Canada" Let me be clear on the question: what are the benefits to the BC alberta sask block to staying?
  21. Can someone please tell me why Alberta or BC should stay in confederation? Really. Why should they?
  22. You need to take an economics lesson. They're a NET taker. Ontario is a basket case old fashioned manufacturing economy reliant on the doomed detroit automakers. Good luck.
  23. That's just bullshit. There is no francophone culture of any significance outside of quebec. I know that in most parts of Canada, the Indo-Canadian or Chinese Canadian cultures represent a FAR greater significance than the frenchies.
  24. Canada is better without Quebec because Quebec is a distinct society! They have said as much themselves. But more to the point, given the constant, endless ongoing consitutional wrangling, ransoms by the Bloc, billions in unrecoverable transfer payments, threats to separate from the dominion, refusal to adopt and sign the constitution, heartwrenching referenda, speak a different language, have different beliefs and culture, the more pertinent question is: How is Canada better with Quebec?
