I would like to perform a study, i would like to know how many of the same people that are now insisting that these male students, who wrote those stupid, and vulgar things, be dismissed, are also against say mandatory minimums for real crimes, or real life sentences for murderers, or who think that every offender needs a chance to be rehabilitated, etc so on, and so forth. How much cross over is their between those groups and say the groups who attacked a scientist for wearing a perhaps unprofessional at worse and pretty tame shirt in most peoples minds, a shirt made by a women just for him, being complained about by 'feminists' (whatever that means today) no doubt most of whom wore clothes excursively made by female children in some third world sweatshop. Ahh the moral high ground.

Alberta Moving Ahead With 21st Century Learning
poochy replied to socialist's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Just one more example of the progressive mantra, it's new, it's different, it must be better! Even when there is no actual reason to believe it so, and they couldn't care less about this reality because like in everything else they do their ideology overrides any semblance of rational thought. -
Proportional Representation Discussion
poochy replied to Michael Hardner's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
This seems to be a general problem with being a progressive, no matter the subject, old is bad, new must be better. Sometimes it's true, often it isn't. -
That's right they answer to all of us, and when they are corrupt or do something illegal we should all demand they answer for it. However, the popular vote red herring is used by the same people that try to turn everything they do into some sort of calamity for the country, when in fact the percentage of votes they won is nothing but normal in Canadian politics. In other words, the tolerance for other ideas on the left seems to be so low that they will make up any ridiculous excuse to call this government illegitimate, like the popular vote, or made up election scams, you do know that most of the rest of us have lived through governments we did not vote for? Those governments then instituted polices that we did not want, but hey, they were left wing policies, progressive policies, which means they are automatically correct right? Guess what it's just the left's turn, once the liberals find a leader with really good hair they will get another shot.

Those poor folks, i mean after Harper told them they could steal, and then he turns his back on them... Im sure there are better examples with which to express the horrible Harper belief, myth or reality. hey, does anyone really think that Chretein was a nicer guy than Harper? Really? i voted for him and i thought he was a asshole.
-
Im always amazed by how terrible this country is while having in reality not changed at all. When their guy was cutting everything harder than your guy, well, that wasn't so bad, when their guy was doing nothing for the environment while subsidizing the oil sands, well, their guy wasn't the devil anyway, but your guy? O he's the antichrist, it's all so boring. Almost nothing has changed, and what has is skin deep, veterans are not being treated worse than they have been, differently maybe, but not worse, maybe we can complain about them not being treated better.
-
O yawn. But maybe he will buy the vote of the young pot smoking demographic, in any case. anyone who thinks that your average 18 yr old should be deciding who runs the country needs to get their head examined and it says a lot about the skin deep nature of the candidate that would have to rely upon those voters. I don't pretend to know a lot of first time voters, except for my own son, who when Trudeau made one of his classic gaffes last year, over the deployment of jets to the middle east, my son said he thought Trudeau spoke like he was one of his classmates, still in high school, more like a child than an adult ready to lead a country. You might be right, but my son is clearly more intelligentt than most poeple his age, more so than Trudeau it seems, he also doesn't smoke pot, so i suppose the Trudeau appeal is low for good young people like him.

I like a good 10 dollar word as much as the next guy, but you sir are running up quite a tab.

But...racism.

Fix it for them, what must american society do to wipe clean any generational problems that still exist due to slavery that you can't just expect the people themselves to overcome? Other cultures have been badly mistreated and don't seem to have this same problem, tell us why, and how do should it be fixed. If everyone else is wrong shouldn't you have the answers?

Which affects everyone and doesn't really matter, lots of poor people regardless of race, work hard, make little, and don't commit crime at high rates. That's life and it always has been.

Taxpayers billed $10,000 to Wipe McGuinty's Computers
poochy replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
In keeping with the season "The audacity! The unmitigated gall!" -
The road to hell and what not...sometimes the efforts to help everyone that certain people think need helping ultimately hurts more than forcing them to find a better path for themselves. Our society has become noting but more liberal, but there never seems to be a point at which it becomes liberal enough, perhaps it's time those people look around and think about the type of society they are building.

A Rational Look at the "Settled Science"
poochy replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Health, Science and Technology
Look im sorry, but I can't account for what is an obvious deficiency in your understanding of your own writing. You obviously insinuated that fracking could eventually kill thousands, or cause major earthquakes, which of course is utterly ridiculous, which means your other beliefs on the subject have no credibility. These are your words and they are typical of the anti science, anti fact, anti carbon extremist, you have a head full of opinions and feelings about the subject but you simply do not have the knowledge required to discuss the topic rationally. I think that you have proven that all on your own, at least for those that are something less than completely biased, now you claim that i am the one deflecting? Honestly, you're out gunned. FYi, of the tremors measured and suspected to have been caused by fracking, most are imperceptible to humans, those that are would be no more noticable than a large truck driving past your house. A major earthquake they are not, and could not ever be. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/fracking-linked-to-alberta-earthquakes-study-indicates-1.2829484 "Since 1985, fewer than 15 earthquakes above a 3.0 magnitude have been recorded anywhere in Alberta, according to the Alberta Geological Survey's website. There has been an increase in earthquake activity since the 1960s, the organization says." Fewer than 15 earthquakes that most people would feel ... since 1985, 29 years, but hey, they don't do much fracking in Alberta...no wait, thats not true. Anyway, i know i'm wasting my time because you don't care about whats real, you care about getting rid oil and gas, whcih leads you to say silly things. You are entitled to your belief, and desire for an oil free economy, but you aren't entitled to your own reality or your own facts. Feel free to google images of "major earthquakes" for futher clarification, or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989_Loma_Prieta_earthquake there is one Just as an example, affected a major metropolitan area and killed all of 63 people. That is 16 times stronger than the stronger than usual non fracking related 4.3 that occured in Alberta this past summer, are you getting it yet? -
A Rational Look at the "Settled Science"
poochy replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Health, Science and Technology
That's nice, unfortunately your hate for 'big oil' doesn't have much to do with the fact that fracking doesn't and will not cause "major earthquakes". The real problem here is that you and your brethren can't fight with facts and when caught making things up, you deflect, you bring out the 'we're gonna run out of oil anyway' or the 'big oil' card. It's a script i've been reading since before most of you heard of global warming O look, you went from telling us about the major earthquakes to a philosophical opinion generated argument, well you are entitled to your opinion, but you aren't entitled to fact. There is zero evidence that fracking can or could produce a "major earthquake", you have what is called a credibility gap, you make things up, then you deflect. There is no one more anti science than a true believer, and you're proving that over and over. Yea, you didn't say it...Hey maybe i should comment on your thousands of dead people caused by fracking and how ridicuoous that is, but i bet you didn't say that either, and of course by not saying those things you didn't prove that your opinion is pretty much irrelevant. -
Prove to us that you could, not just say it, i can say any silly thing about any situation, but prove it to us, show us all how easy it is and how for you it would always be so, how you could handle every situation with movie cop like effectiveness and ease. Tell us in detail exactly how fast a man that size can move and exactly what effect any particular gunshot might have had on that movement. Explain to us how your inhuman ability to behave like an emotionless robot in every situation would allow you to always make every correct decision, and even if necessary the perfect shot, only to stop the attacker. Maybe just 'shoot him in the leg' of course missing the femoral artery, that's a no no, of course you wouldn't make that mistake. So go on, tell us how you, or if you want to deflect, the super cop would do it, or where we might find these perfect beings, with the perfect mix of athleticism, brains, brawn, marksmanship, and of course, courage, we wouldn't want them to be fired and charged after all. It's difficult for me to imagine how any adult human thinks the way you do, the police deal with thousands of situations just like these every day and very rarely does anything truly bad happen, you want impossibly perfect police, and you deny the reality of the very imperfect people they have to face. Two police officers were just shot by a man looking for an outlet for his disablities, maybe he would have killed more different people, but he chose police precisely because of the ridiculous rhetoric surrounding these recent cases, rhetoric that completely ignores evidence, ignores reality, just like you do, you made one post in that thread, only to comment on his obvious mental ilness. Sure, he only assasinated two police officers becuase he was nuts, and becuase the tv made him beleive they deserved it, so what right? it wasn't as though those police officers were criminals in the process of being arrested who resisted and died, that would have made them true heroes, in the end they were just cops.

Teacher Stress Is Killing My Profession
poochy replied to socialist's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Yea, can you imagine if he had done any of the horrible things that he was definetly going to do, like ban abortion, or ban gay marrigae, or keep women in the home, or put troops on the streets! I guess we got off easy, or perhaps the people who might have actually thought those things were likely didn't and don't have any credibility. Perhaps, i don't know, a marginally conservative pm will always have people that simply hate him for not being a liberal, or being from the 'redneck west' (not really) and maybe that clouds their judgement. Living in Ontario the liberals have done much more to negatively affect my life, mostly financially, than the feds have, and as much money as they have stolen from me, from all of us, i don't think they are evil dictators or darth vader, just dishonest politicians, in other words, normal. But for many on the left that would vote for those liberals that's exactly what they think of the pm. That doesnt seem rational. -

A Rational Look at the "Settled Science"
poochy replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Health, Science and Technology
O my. What nonsense. Just what is the acceptable level of harm for you people? You seem to be living in the modern world, most of which was made possible by oil, so as you write your decree's you are harming the environment. So some level of environmental impact seems to be ok with you. The real bottom line problem is that most of you are anti science, and anti fact left leaning individuals who will simply accept no reality outside of your broken ideology. Prove me wrong and stop participating in this fossil fuel driven world. Stop posting from your made mostly from oil computer, find a nice cave, or mud dwelling, etc. Major earthquakes? If you knew anything about science, geology, or plate tectonics you would be embarrassed for having written that. -
Teacher Stress Is Killing My Profession
poochy replied to socialist's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Perhaps we need to instill some old fashioned morals and values into these ruffians! Does anyone die when the teacher screws up a lesson plan? No, didn't think so, me 1, teacher 0. -
There are words, many, reality being just one of them, the reality that in the real world sometimes the holes in the cheese line up and unintended bad things happen as a result, sometimes people even die. You believe that we should be able to control everything all of the time and ensure that no possible mistake or negligence of any kind ever happens when it comes to policing? That isn't rational, the dead man started the chain of events that lead to his death, it shouldn't have worked out that way, but on that day decisions were made and they worked out badly. They didn't intend to kill him, no more than he planned on resisting while getting arrested when he got up that morning. There are many thousands of arrests every day, very few resist, very few of them are seriously harmed, very few of those die. That's how the real world works, some of you seem to be determined to live in a world of your own making, i am afraid though that it will never supplant this one, if you are being arrested, be nice, better yet, don't be a criminal, if you have been arrested 30 times before, well, be extra nice.

Do you have the slightest idea the scale that the kind of storage you are talking about would have to be? It is unviable. In other words, not real, not happening.
