The Idea of a true democracy is a good one but sadly will never be achieved and one reason why is people that get elected really don't care about the people that have elected them , we have seen this over and over every election. They steal , Lie, cheat and ignore election promises they build up their own egos and nothing more. To find true democracy you will spend eternity looking.

I am not sure what it is like in other cities but here in Calgary at Election time the people running for election absolutely flood the streets with signage. I know that they think most people are stupid and do not pay attention to political platforms and because of that they want each name seen every two feet. Here is what bothers me we have in this city a Bylaw about signage and it applies to Politian's signs as well but guess what our bylaw officers told me and I am talking about the sergeant in charge of Bylaw that the Mayor of our good city told them to ignore it at election time . This to me is troubling in a couple of ways #1 why are they any different then the average citizen who wants to put one sign up to advertise his company ? they put signs 6 inches from the curb instead of the 6 feet the law requires and they are spaced every foot instead of 20 yards. #2 if these people show total disregard for the simplest laws in the city how do we trust them to abide by the rest? Governments know why younger people do not trust them and I think we have to speak up please call the 311 number and complain and then ask to be put through to the mayors office and complain to them. Remember this is a round about way of saying you are stupid.

They still have responsibilities and there is no way around that. As do we all.

Hey for starters let everyone see the money in and out of general funding That is a good first step. Then let us make each member responsible for spending in respective departments and then how about real punishment for the politicians that break laws . Partial pension losses for wrong doing . complete transparency after all it is the peoples money they are spending is it not. People are always looking at the hard way to do things when the answers are usually obtained by the simplest means so lets get real and make simple demands .

Most of our oil is owned by the U.S.A . Oil Companies have no one to blame but themselves they are not trustworthy enough to undertake anything like this anymore. They have done damage every where they go leaving the tax payers to pay for the clean ups . There have been 9000 significant pipeline related incidents in North America between 1986 -2016 , 8.5 billion in damage . The U.S.A. since 2010 had 9 million gallons spilled , Last year in Canada 122 reported oil and gas spills. You can count on one thing only and that is they will cut corners where ever they can they never really care about our water ways and land. another thing is most studies done are paid for by oil companies so how biased do you think they are ? Imagine if you will had these companies taken care of the environment as they should have we would not have these debates at all and I hear that "oh they pay for clean ups" well they do not it always falls on to the tax payers one way or another.

I think when some people have a thought pattern it is a waste of time to explain facts because they do not understand facts only perceptions that they have acquired over time. So lets agree that you are wrong and we will not mention it again.

May I say that I view everyone in the same light and that is if they are good people they are good people but we have been given no reason over the last number of years to trust the government to look out for our best interest instead it looks as though they are only worried about being politically correct to get votes , People are not blind and eventually understand things. The normal way for governments to act is to keep people in the dark and hide facts there is no transparency at all unless they deem it necessary. People have a fear and it is justified . people fear what is different and when you force something on them you will have problems. as for the acts against Muslims the people that are doing this would be doing it anyway so the problem is with our laws and lack of enforcement no matter the crime in this great country the punishment is a slap on the wrist. Lots has to change but I ask everyone to give a helping hand and treat each other well and to the new comers they have to reach out as well and not try to make this country the same as the one they ran from accept Canada and the people and laws or go back and fight for what you believe in .

Maybe just maybe if wages came up every where to a living wage life would be different. What do you make ? More then min. wage ? People of the mind set like you are the reason that things are the way they are and by the way thousands have lost jobs and are in poverty thousands of others are working full time min. wage living pay check to pay check so please. The only people getting rich are the big business share holders on the backs of the poor folks. They get no benefits and no sharing of profits. why are you so worried about restaurants ? that seems strange what about the servers ? take the blinders off and offer the poor a chance to live even if it is at the expense of some of the wealthy. The people that then would not go to your sacred restaurants would then have that extra disposable income to spend on something else and then maybe even others could afford to go to your restaurants for a meal I mean the ones that would survive.
