  1. Thanks for the tip!
  2. Of course they are! The CBC has become a sewer and everyone at the top should go.
  3. Evidence already suggests that this has been an ongoing problem for some time, we've already seen people come out and say so. You can choose to believe that it was a complete shock to CBC execs all you like, but it's gonna come down to CYA politics and Conway is getting a head start.
  4. It would be extremely naive to think that CBC execs were not aware of Ghomeshi's indiscretions. Hiring somebody to investigate when you control the parameters of the investigation and get to analyze the information does not fill me with confidence.
  5. Quiet may not have been the correct word, I should've said that it's never unknown.
  6. No one is saying Ghomeshi isn't guilty of sexual harassment, but it's very naive to believe that he's the only one going down. Sexual harassment is never quiet, people always know. Conway has just one card to play, and that is to find enough people that she can do a house cleaning and like you said, be applauded. No, simply removing Ghomeshi is not enough, she needs to broom a few people if she is to keep her job.
  7. OMG! Of course that is what she wants, it's called getting out in front...or controlling the situation. As I said, she's looking for someone/anyone to take the fall when it should come down to Ghomeshi's producer and her. She should be fired/resign for one of 2 reasons; 1) She knew (as it seems everybody at CBC did), and therefore chose to turn a blind eye for her star employee - until it became her problem. 2) She didn't know (when everybody else did), which shows just how out of touch she is (or blindly ignorant) with her company.
  8. OK, fair enough, the way it read to me was that the investigation team would report findings to the CBC, not the police. But if the police are involved in the sexual harassment probe, that would be good. If Ms. Conway keeps her job, I'll be hard pressed to believe the neutrality of the investigation.
  9. What do you mean tainted? Because I think that CBC assigning an investigator is joke? It's like the RCMP assigning an independent to investigate the RCMP. No, I think the RCMP should investigate the sexual harassment issues inside the CBC.
  10. Assigned by CBC to look for sexual harassment! I don't trust that for a minute. This Heather Conway is looking for a scapegoat so she can save her own hide. That Noorani dude is a goner for sure, but Conway should go also.
  11. ^^^Yes, I think we all agree with that.
  12. I have blamed everyone's silence including that of some women. I know the reasons and yes, some of them are valid. I know it must require a lot of strength to come forward too, but if they feel strongly enough that they've been abused, they have to find it in themselves to do so. Common sense would dictate that there are dozens...maybe hundreds of women know first hand exactly the type of sleaze bag Ghomeshi is.
  13. The point, which I thought obvious, is that people like cybercoma want to just take whatever accusation is levied (if it's from a woman) and accept it 100%. From what I know, I have no doubt these woman are telling the truth, but if criminal charges and a conviction are in Ghomeshi's future, these women's accounts will have to be scrutinized. Women shouldn't be afraid to come forward, and in this case 9 have, but I'm not going to be guilted by virtue of being a man if women choose to remain silent. Their silence (and as we now know, the silence of many others) has only hurt other women.
  14. There has to be a lot of guilt going around - and well deserved. I don't care what demons this dude is trying to rid himself of, those who cover for scumbags are just as bad. Ghomeshi might have some psychological issues, but this guy (and those who he's also talking about) is just weak.
  15. What makes you any better than these muslim countries who give women half the say of men? At least there, a woman has some voice, here in Canada you want to give men zero say in their defence. BTW - I have never accused anyone of lying.
  16. So, you have absolutely no impartiality whatsoever. Innocent until proven guilty means nothing to you? So, based on what we know, what would be a fitting punishment for Ghomeshi?
  17. You thought questions absurd yesterday, today their obvious? These women will be given a fair shake I can guarantee that.
  18. It's Ok for you to speculate and make accusations...why? BTW - Both the women who I've talked about have gone public with their story, which means we are allowed to discuss the details of their accounts.
  19. cybercoma - "All of these questions and accusations about the victims takes the focus away from where it belongs: squarely on the perpetrator. Questioning the accusers, indeed implying that they are liars, deserved the abuse, or even wanted it, is exactly why they don't come forward with these accusations." Nobody is saying any of this. Ill say it again, if any of these women want to see Ghomeshi prosecuted, questions will be asked. Are we not allowed to speculate on what happened and what a court might do? I've speculated what I might ask if I was a lawyer and you've chosen to accuse me of victimizing these women.
  20. Several of you are outraged and pointing fingers at me, implying things that I never suggested just because I mentioned questions that lawyers would ask. Cybercoma and WCR don't think these women should be questioned at all and to do so, makes me some kind of monster, I'm attacking them - the reason they never come forward. They want Ghomeshi convicted (and after due process, if he is guilty, so do I), but on what charge? All I have ever said is that the stories don't support what people seem to think they do. WCR won't answer the question I posted to her - and for good reason.
  21. I understand that it's a hard thing to do, and I think that all these women should come forward and if charges are brought, testify in a court of law. What I don't understand is those people who think charges and even a conviction should come without the victims testifying.
  22. It amazes me just how many Canadian people are willing (in some cases demanding) to forego this process and find someone guilty without questioning the accuser because awkward questions might arise. Heaven help us if we give up our day in court.
  23. Good answer, but that wasn't the question.
  24. I'm not implying anything, just looking at it from a legal perspective. I know why women don't always come forward, but that really has nothing to do with whether Ghomeshi is guilty or not. What do you recommend be done with Ghomeshi?
