I will simply draw your attention to what is called the "Establishment Clause" which is part of the 1st amendment of the US Constitution for your edification.

Landed aliens, legal or not, have 14th Amendment and other constitutional rights in the U.S.
But they can't legally vote, have a right to firearms, and other technicalities.

I'm willing to venture a guess that people fleeing a war zone aren't big customers at the myriad gun shops in the US.
