  1. Could that make me Japanese?
  2. I already spoke to my thoughts on the media's use of leaked photos of an ongoing investigation.
  3. How do you know that I'm white?
  4. Sure I'm sure, as I would assume most "non-white people" (like white people)in the Lower Mainland would have been concerned with a potential terror attack in the downtown core.
  5. Relieved like the White people?
  6. For what reason? It seems in cases like these, the media (and police) are damned if they do and damned if they don't..........
  7. Exactly, if member Exegesisme isn't breaking forum rules with his posts, I see no reason for the dog pile.
  8. Rorschach exercise complete
  9. For sure, and I think if nothing was Rotten in Denmark they will contact the VPD.........with that said, I would assume when you go out with friends or family shopping (like I), you don't walk in a fire-team wedge formation.........
  10. I don't know that they are Muslims, the VPD described them as Middle eastern, my response was to Hudson Jones who broached the subject of Muslim terrorists/rapists and profiling. As to "acting like", as mentioned in all related terror attacks, authorities have stated pre-attack reconnaissance of intended targets is the norm, as such, this is clearly the VPD's motivation for conducting an investigation into these three.......now that said pictures are public, I would assume these three, if they had no ill intent, will contact the VPD for an interview to clear-up any misunderstandings.
  11. I don't either after several steps were made by the VPD.....namely an effort made to insure these three weren't just tourists/contractors/students etc. It would be pretty lousy if these guys were just conducting an assignment from University... I never suggested all Muslims are terrorists/rapists.........but if a group of younger Muslim males are acting in a manner similar to those that went onto attack Paris, Jakarta etc, I think that is reasonable grounds for a level of concern.
  12. Instead of starting a new topic, I thought I'd add this story from Greater Vancouver here, since there will surely be calls of racial profiling/Islamophobia: And the pics leaked by media, which Vancouver Police didn't plan to make public, until their investigation was further along (if at all): Suspicious no doubt, but then these three "Middle Eastern looking fellows" could be engineering students from UBC doing a project or contractors bidding on new entrance/exit doors at the Mall...............Prudent move by the media to leak this pics or is it Islamophobia?
  13. You can always "take over territory" without the gun, that depends on your own personal convictions and expectations of success or failure.
  14. If a shooting war developed between the Chinese and the Americans in the South China Sea, even if we wanted to involve ourselves, there would be very little Canada could contribute outside an ancillary token..........I wouldn't loose sleep over it.
  15. The USAF's insistence on the A-10 retirement has been prevalent since the 80s (see proposed A-16 Falcon concept), and furthered by its performance in the First Gulf War, in which despite its stellar ability as a close support aircraft, its limitations in a less than permissive environment became known. Added to declining budgets for the last several decades, the A-10 has a big target on its back, as its the least versatile aircraft in the USAF's inventory. The debate all comes back to money, in that the USAF budget has been cut/frozen (like the other departments during this administration) and they have to decide between current and future funding priorities, and that calls into question the versatility of a given program......if US lawmakers found more money to keep the A-10 in service, without cutting something else, that's a good thing.......as there is no doubt the A-10 is very good at a limited numbers of roles, and if the money is there, there is no reason to not keep it operational in niche roles for decades to come, be that with the USAF, or full transfer to the various Air National Guard units. To add, comparative testing isn't new (the A-10 on introduction did the like with the aging A-1E and the then new A-7), as all new platforms engage in such tests with legacy platforms, so end users can develop new operational doctrine for the new platforms.
  16. Courts, elected officials, the BLM etc... Legally they can't, but prior to the "occupation" they were........as noted, the group has since met, at the refuge, with elected officials from several States and lawyers........oddly enough, prior to the State legislators meeting with the Bundys, a solitary judge and officials from BLM and the FWS called on said State lawmakers to not meet the protesters......... So we have a groups of protesters, complaining about Government agencies and a district court judge, claiming they have evidence of wrongdoing on said parties, and said parties tried to obstruct elected lawmakers from meeting with said protesters..........and now said protesters will be holding a public meeting this coming Friday. As I said, they either have a case with evidence as they claim, which could have a massive impact on tendered Federal leases in the Western States......or they got nothing.
  17. I think you're missing their point.......until they started their protest at the refuge, they were being ignored.
  18. It doesn't mater, per the 1st Amendment.......further to that, the Bundy's claim of Government coercion with regards to the BLM's awarding of leases hasn't been brought before the US Courts system, hence this isn't a "do over".........and is why the Bundy's have met with a lawyer(s) and lawmakers from several Western States at the refuge in the past week. The only "do over" (appeal) would be over the Hammonds sentencing, which the Government appealed twice (the first judge wouldn't sentence the two on the Government's charge of terrorism) until they got the Judge that they wanted. Now if, as the Bundy's claim to now have, there is evidence that the Government's alleged unjust haranguing of the Hammonds was due to their previous refusal to sell their own property to the Feds, I'd very much expect the Hammonds to be released, any officials involved to be brought up on charges and the Hammonds to sue the Federal Government for a ton of money. If they have evidence, as they now claim, supporting both of their allegations, this could be but the first domino, which could involve the largest Federal transfer of land since the US Government bought Alaska from the Russians......if they don't, this group is hooped.
  19. No I'm not, precedent very much comes into play, but what you're describing is the purview of the US appellate court system.......the problem of course, one can't appeal a ruling of a court, if it never heard said case, issuing a ruling in the first place.
  20. We're not talking about Canada, every American can bring a case before a US Court and receive a ruling by at least a Judge or a jury of his peers.......1st Amendment protects this right.
  21. You understand the Supreme Court, being the largest appellate court in the United States, requires already tried cases?
  22. In the Supreme Court............you understand there are court systems between the Supreme Court and Judge Judy right? Including courts available to all Americans to exercise their 1st Amendment right.
  23. You understand the United States has circuit courts, and that any and all Americans have a right to bring cases before them.....
  24. It makes perfect sense.....create large numbers of Storm Troopers based off an elite bounty hunter, that will be born loyal and healthy, and (IIRC) within a ~5 year span from hatching to deployment.......it is in effect what the Nazi's dreamed of with the SS (Lucas of course basing the Empire off a mash of the Romans and Nazis)...... Consider this, since logistics actually win wars, having an army made up of clones, you need only produce all their uniforms/ armor in one size, have on hand one blood type, and it could be assumed, fridges full of spare arms, legs, fingers etc if your troopers lost a part in combat.......
  25. Of course, and the Bundy's have every Right to have their case heard by a US (Federal) Court......and then if need be, an appellate court.
