It would be very surprising to see Khadr win but if he did then it would be held up as an example of fair and just application of the law. I have exactly zero concern on what it will cost Canada or Canadians. I would see it as honourable to be a part of paying him.

It pertains exactly to what you said to argus. Lots of quotes are provided but you don't want to accept anything other than what comes from your propagandists' sources.

This Calls For Another US/Nato Visa Ban of a Russian! LOL
monty16 replied to monty16's topic in The Rest of the World
Absolutely! A spot that Canada will not have any will to extract itself from. At least not with the Harper government. A Liberal government could have the will but maybe not the way, however we can remember back to when Chretien shoved it in their faces and didn't oblige them with their phony Iraq war. Who knows? Sadly, the NDP has shown no determination to take the high road and has even aided the Harper government in the NDP's rush to defeat the Liberals. I'm not getting your comment on Israel. Please explain. -
This Calls For Another US/Nato Visa Ban of a Russian! LOL
monty16 replied to monty16's topic in The Rest of the World
I think he US thought it could pull this off against Russia and may have guessed wrong. However, we need to think of what that implies. First of all, a redundancy of Nato and that's rather unlikely. And secondly, I don't believe that the US is going to stop it's global power grab. All those weapons won't be going to waste and they being a threat to Russia or China to not begin their own expansionist power grab doesn't seem like a good enough reason at this point in time. There is a move afoot in the US to convince the world that it is going to be self-sufficient in petroleum based products. I don't believe it! Russia is oil rich and we should also know that freeing up oil that is under state control is one huge reason for their wars. In my opinion the demonization of Russia will continue in earnest now that the US has succeeded at least in part of convincing at least a part of the world that Russia is the bad guy. We can pretty safely say that Venezuela won't be left to it's own resources either. I think it won't take long to find if I'm right or not. Perhaps soon after the election the supposed troubles with Russia's interference will be manufactured. It will only take a keen eye to see what is really happening. Your thoughts on this? And escalation of a new cold war of sorts or peaceful coexistence with Russia? -
Americans not admitting their guilt for that illegal phony war is simply profane. Saddam Hussein's biggest mistake was not working harder to obtain the nuclear deterrent to US aggression. It will be a lesson for any other country that trusts the US's intentions are honourable.

I provide lots of evidence and quotes but you won't ever accept them because they're not the US propagandists' pablum they spoonfeed to Americans. But keep it up, the chickens are going to come home to roost sooner rather than later.

All They Need is a Handgun.

As far as nobody in that admin being held responsible? Phhhhhhtttttt! But as far as video games being responsible? They're a substitute for the real thing by those who don't qualify to go to a foreign country to kill people. And believe me Shady, it's hard not to qualify because a blood lust for people who speak a different language is pretty much what's expected and needed. -
The comforting thing about it is that the south and the east are going to provide a buffer zone against further Nato encroachment on Russia. That wasn't in the US/Nato plan at all. And unfortunately the US/Nato is not going to let it get back to a peaceful situation as the south and east is where all the wealth is in the Ukraine. The US has plans to send nat. gas to the Ukraine at only 1.6 times the cost that Russia was supplying it. If Russia breaks with it's commitment to Europe and continues to increase it's China market, the AS gas will get there about the time the Russian's get the infrastructure up to supply China! Boy, they really showed Putin a thing or two didn't they! LOL

Great attitude! and not out of step with most Americans apparently. This will ensure that the slaughter continues for a long time yet. Surprised it hasn't boiled to the teabaggers and the socalled socialists getting their guns out and settling a few scores! -
But it's not alright to talk about 'brotherly love in Alabama is it. Demonize all Muslims by labelling them all wife and children beaters and that's politically correct?

Yeah, that will do a lot of good for the little school children! Rather than 16 they should be forced to pack heat when they start school at 6. -

http://rackjite.com/web/guns_nra.htm conservatively incorrect Guns R Us I’ve got a gun it ain’t teenie, it makes up for my little weenie The NRA Song Guns are neat, Guns are sweet Guns the tool, what makes you cool. Guns are fine, Guns are mine Guns are things, that Jesus brings! Guns for loonies, Guns for cons Guns for Moonies, Guns for moms! Guns are fun for everyone, buy them up by the ton. Guns for me, Guns for you, Guns for nuts and children too! Guns at home, Guns at work, Guns at play, Guns berserk! Tons and tons of great big Guns, Are tons and tons of great big fun! I’ve got Guns up my nose ‘tween my ears and by my toes. I’m no fool, I’m so cool, I take Guns to my school. I take Guns in my car, to the store and to the bar. I got Guns in a drawer, in my pocket and on the floor. I got Guns on the wall, behind the toilet and in the hall. I got guns in my bed, one is growing from my head! Get a Gun and get it fast, Gun-Gun shoot-shoot is a blast! redline Murders By Handguns Those who really really want a gun, are the very ones who really, really shouldn’t be allowed to have one. Nations with the strongest handgun control laws are; Australia, Great Britain, Japan, Canada and Sweden. Each has less than one hundred murders by handgun per year. Here in America, which has the weakest handgun controls, we have about ten thousand handgun murders a year. That’s one hundred times as many, and even with per capita adjustment, it’s always more than ten times as many. Hell, just in the state of Texas, where guns transcend even Jesus, it’s ten times the amount as many countries. In 14 states, gun deaths surpass motor vehicle deaths. The rationale for our singular national gungoonery is that the only way to be really free is for everyone to run around with a .44 magnum. The rest of the world might adamantly disagree with that, but it makes no difference to a great many Americans who are called gunloons for good reason. -
When a country pulls off a huge success such as the Olympic games in Sochi, it's indicative of a success that is not in tune with US politics and there could be repercussions. Beware Brazil!

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/05/24/elliot-rodger-video-confession_n_5385175.html?cps=gravity The issue for the US is not that it's happening completely out of proportion to the rest of the civilized world. The issue has become, they have the weapons so easily available to these kind of American kids who go off. Now it's time to have a close look at why it's happening so often in the US. I would suggest that mentally ill people are present in all countries to some degree. But the availability of handguns makes the difference for the US. But another factor that could come into the equation is that they are immersed in a society and culture of violence. Killing people in other countries with impunity just has to eventually carry over to their attitudes to people in general. It's getting more and more obvious that they place little value on human life and consequently, kids such as this one first think of this sort of remedy to fix his problems. Mentally ill? Yes, but most likely driven to violence by an ill society with easy access to the weapons that are required to act out his violence.

But at least Putin is making it very clear that's not what Russia wants. However, this is about taking firm and positive steps to protect Russia's economic position: http://rt.com/news/161104-sanction-eu-russia-china/ And notice that Russia continues to promise that it's commitments to Europe will continue to be honoured. Now it's up to Europe but developments have shown recently that Europe is not going to continue to go against it's best interests and be blackmailed by the US/Nato's ambitions. The US/Nato appear to have bitten off more than they can chew, now that China is in the game and is about to eclipse the US economy. Cold war? Who the hell cares?

Why isn't prostate cancer screening covered by OHIP?
monty16 replied to cybercoma's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Don't be taken in by politically motivated lies, take a chance and go with your gut and you'll be right 9 out of 10 times. Move directly to a direct challenge of something that just doesn't feel right. It isn't! -
Great question. Terrorists and freedom fighters are the same thing, only looked at from a different perspective. Anyone who condemns that approach to the issue needs to think about it for a while before making a fool of themselves. So with that in mind it's easy to name a terrorist who isn't a Muslim.

Is that as good as your rebuttals ever get? Absolutely nothing to do with anything I said. Talk about getting priorities straight!

This is the direction in which you must move in the US. People telling their doctors what's good for the doctor to prescribe is a lot to do with your problems. For example, in the US the people are bombarded by pharma advertising and it's effective enough to cause the people to go to their doctor and ask for the product. They tell the people to do just that! The only reason why that's being allowed is because it's the extremist capitalist way to sell these expensive pharmas regardless of whether it's good for the person. In a normal socially responsible society the doctor is making these important decisions and the decisions are ten times more likely to be the right ones. Here's the parallel to bad insurance coverage that the ACA won't tolerate any longer. The right's agenda is to help sell the crap, be it insurance coverage or pharmas, and they're pretending that the ACA took away from the people what they really wanted. Instead, it's nothing but politics and stubbornness, all motivated by continuing to prop up a failed heath care system. Progress is slow Shady but in time you and your cohorts will get over it and flow with the tides of change. Liken it to your resistance to any forced changes you had to make for your own good. I'm sure you wear your seatbelt now and don't object to having airbags in your car. -
It's not nearly as much defending Clinton as it's having fun with this charade that the teabaggers are trying to keep going and the gullible on the right is swallowing. In any case, if we've made any progress at all on this thread, it's that we've established now that it's not about Hillary. Or would you like to go back and rethink that now too?

Harper and his goon squad eroding away our social programs to save money so he can cut taxes on those who are the richest. And you're right that Canadians need to do something to save what we have left. Get rid of Harper. No conservative should ever be trusted with a majority government in Canada. -

Yeah, basically it's a matter of tough love for the Americans. They just will not learn! -
The US slaughters hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians and calls it the war on terror. In retrospect we now know it was nothing of the sort. We also know that if there was justice in the world, Bush and his neocons would be strung up by their heels from lampposts in the Hague and have their throats cut in public. Then we could put the 15 year old kid before the ICC and see if they are going to be so tough to sentence him to probation for 6 months with time off for time already served. And a few million dollars for the balance. Don't you think we need to get our priorities in order?

Dis-United Kingdom? (Scotland, Not Quebec this Time)
monty16 replied to jbg's topic in The Rest of the World
No, you don't even have it close to right and I don't think you even tried. What I said and what should have been clear to even you is that the people of Quebec didn't demonstrate that they were heavily in favour of separation. And if they did show that then I don't think Canada would have sent in the troops to stop them from separating. If you choose to continue to take my words and massacre them to suit your own agenda then I won't even bother to correct you in the future. You are wearing on my patience! You can also be forewarned, if you continue to try to equate me to Stalin then I will put it to the moderators with the suggest that you are not able to communicate without resorting to personal attacks. You can decide whether or not that's what it is for now. -
You need to go back over the posts of mine and Tim's and see how his arguments were completely demolished. And btw, if you are going to try to hold yourself up as an expert then do the line drop calculation that I asked Tim to do when he tried to set himself up as an expert. So how about this for my opening bid? About 50% of all energy needs could be supplied to the N.America grid by green and renewable energy sources which would include solar, wind, tidal, geothermal, and others you will possibly discover in this link. The other 50% will be supplied by hydro power which is also sustainable but not entirely green for reasons I can help to explain to you. We will then require a 10% +- redundancy which can be supplied with your choice of non-renewable sources or nuclear. http://www.eia.gov/kids/energy.cfm?page=renewable_home-basics
