Did PM Trudeau score political points off the death of 7 Syrian children?

  2. " I think Senator Blumenthal should take a nice long vacation in Vietnam, where he lied about his service, so he can at least say he was there."

    - Trump demonstrates he can troll a Democrat just like the best of us. From that position of power, and via Twitter no less.

Hats off to the true master.

Already done that fella. He appointed a SC judge, and signed a bunch of what to date are meaningless, or court denied executive orders, and played a shitload of golf. Other than that SFA.

Trump is not one to be yipping about Vietnam.  I see a lot of media talking about North Korea, Trump wants to talk about a Senator's military record. He didn't serve in Viet Nam but at least Blumenthal has a military record.

Most of them are. There was another one in the paper the other day demanding prisons put an end to solitary confinement. Period. None. She said absolutely nothing about how violent men spending decades in prison with little or no hope of getting out were to be controlled, of course, let alone punished for misdeeds. Not her problem.

No surprise that the Minister responsible for this service is out of touch with reality. Easy for these people to pontificate, but they should leave the real work and hard decisions up to the people on the ground.

My inclination is, the kids need to be removed from the danger or neglect where parents are drug addicts who don't look after them. That needs to be done.

The real problem then is how these kids are cared for, within the system.

  9. “Due to the Shutdown, I am sorry to inform you that your trip to Brussels, Egypt, and Afghanistan has been postponed. We will reschedule this seven-day excursion when the Shutdown is over. In light of the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay, I am sure you would agree that postponing this public relations event is totally appropriate,”

I understand they were standing at the gate waiting for a plane to pull up when this tweet arrived. Nicely done! And with full media exposure too.

“I also feel that, during this period, it would be better if you were in Washington negotiating with me and joining the Strong Border Security movement to end the Shutdown. Obviously, if you would like to make your journey by flying commercial, that would certainly be your prerogative.”

  11. Delayed cardiac surgeries due to coronavirus may have caused 35 deaths in Ontario: minister

and that's not all. Those are just the ones who have been counted.

Remember I told you this was going on, I heard about the cancer patients not getting their surgery.

Let's pray that the idiots who run things get us back going again, at least to the level where people are not dying because of the shutdown.

That is where I have come from all along.

    1. scribblet

It's going to get worse because there is now a huge backlog of surgeries, how are they going to catch up if ever.

  12. "Viable organs from deceased donors go unused as Ontario hospitals pause some transplants"

Wait, I thought the only procedures being cancelled are elective surgeries. The article goes on to say "It breaks my heart. Every transplant that we do is a life-saving operation."

So we are cancelling these lie saving surgeries to give beds to people, the majority of whom are only feeling a little unwell and need some oxygen? Do they really need all that medical attention?

      Nuther good one-

Anxiety on rise due to coronavirus, say mental health charities

A lot of people are freaking out. Again those with a pre-condition like obsessive compulsive disorder. And with the massive scale back to only "essential services" these people ahave dropped off our radar. Panic attacks are on the rise, as are violent domestic episodes. People woke up to face a completely new reality, out of work, no money for groceries. Totally overwhelmed and no one to turn to. Those who live paycheck to paycheck. Not any of you people who spend your days online, I'll wager.

  13. PMO denies 'hostility' in Trudeau's interactions with Liberal MP

Hey PMO, doesn't she deserve to be heard? That's what I thought the Prime Minister said, any time these sort of matters arise. They seem to be arising a lot lately.

For one, hostility is not permitted in the workplace, BubberMiley. People who have real jobs all know that.

Unlike Mr. Trudeau who has never had a real job before.

  15. Rosner added that a particular concern is the undermining of the public's ability to understand what's true from what's false. "Past experience has taught us that even in the most dismal periods of the Cold War, we can come together. It is high time we do so again."

  19. A crime is being perpetrated on all of us. Yes there is a virus, yes it is bad but by now any rational thinking person should see, the cure is worse than the disease.

I was talking to some old people, they say they'd rather live their life and take their chances with the virus than all this stopping everything. They would take precautions of course, but bein trapped in your apartment andnot allowed to see your friends, go to the places you always do is like being in a prison. They don't have the internet. This is no way for them to end their lives. Think about it.

My daughter is a young adult. She told my wife being alone in her house means no more social contact, no dating, no seeing your boyfriend. She has always had a problem with alcohol but has been off it for 2 years. Now that she's home all the time, she confessed she's started drinking again THhe god damn liquor store remains open.

    1. OftenWrong

      OftenWrong

We have always lived with disease and always managed it as best we can. Today I see a lot of people suddenly wanting to learn more about virology. For those of us who've worked in the medical field for decades, we don't need to learn it. More importantly, there is nothing new happening here that doesn't happen each year. That people are now aware of viruses and what they do, and want to do something about it is fine. That doesn't justify the radical response we are seeing. This is not just my opinion but the opinion of my medical friends and colleagues who are working in the field, will be tomorrow.

Now here's a man who I call a leader- Idaho Governor Brad Little

      Quote

Governor Brad Little signed a "proactive emergency declaration" on March 13, when no cases were confirmed.

On March 18, Little announced the state was adopting federal guidelines, which urge people not to gather in groups of more than 10. He has also advised residents not to eat at restaurants.

Those guidelines are not mandatory, but Little said that was subject to change.

"Given the circumstances we have now, we need to do all we can to escalate awareness and preparedness," Little said during a March 15 press conference. "Prepare for the worst-case scenario, but we should also de-escalate alarmism - and that is critical."

Hardly any other political "leader" is interested in addressing the needs of ordinary people.
