  1. Again, this shows your lack of knowledge in progressive treatment plans. No one wants to stand up in a room full of people stating they are an alcoholic. We have progressed beyond those extremes. You need to check out your local health centre treatment facilities. They are embracing treatments such as cognitive behaviour skills etc. It's no longer necessary to stand up in front of a crowd and declare you are an alcoholic etc. There are more positive treatment therapies available.
  2. Let's hope it continues to the convention.
  3. ROTFL. No individual will think they are worth saving if they are repeatedly labelled as an addict instead of a 'mother' or 'father' or 'spouse' who has a problem with abuse of alcohol or pain killers or meth etc.
  4. I agree with you there.
  5. You are obviously lacking in knowledge of current treatment plans.
  6. AA is no longer the go to treatment for individuals. It is not as highly successful as most would believe.
  7. What if he said that about Canadians? 'Not all Canadians are rapists and drug dealers'. Seriously, Betsy. You need to put on your critical thinking hat.
  8. Not everyone can afford expensive rehab centres so these community based locations ie needle exchange, are their only grasp at recovery. This issue is far too complex than to just say 'let's cut them off'.
  9. The reasons for desiring a high can't possibly be addressed until the individual gets sober. It is the path to sobriety that needs to be addressed and that includes safe injection sites. As far as labels, addicts is too derogatory a term.
  10. Managing addiction is part of the recovery process. Injection sites offer both safe injection as well as resources for detox, housing, employment and recovery. If offering drugs in a controlled environment helps, which it clearly does given the numerous studies by experts, who are we to argue against that.
  11. But isn't it the job of Christians to put pressure on governments to do what is righteous in the eyes of God? (your words, not mine) That seems in contradiction to Trump's actions.
  12. 10 Reasons You Can't Be A Christian And Vote For Trump 4 more are listed in the linked article but I'm sure you get my drift.
  13. Related to this topic is Obama's action today of commuting the sentencing (severe lengthy sentences) of 61 prisoners convicted of drug and firearm offences with most of them related to drug offences. He is also working to put programs in place to ensure a more successful re-entry into society.
  14. We were having a dialogue in case you weren't paying attention. Why don't you just butt out. Your expectations of my behaviour are whacky.
  15. What's your problem? You seem to have a problem with me. Let it go.
  16. Do you know if his Christian promises will go against human rights? That's what I thought. Betsy disappeared. Thanks for playing Betsy.
  17. My apologies. I missed that post. I will have to read it. I'm not a Christian but as long as his promises don't obstruct human rights for everyone including gays, women and minorities, I'm cool.
  18. What is he going to do for Christians and Christianity. I missed that message?
  19. There is no chance in hell relations will go sideways.
  20. Do you really think his not being on the Tarmac will affect relations between these two countries? Seriously?
  21. I can't be bothered. You can look it up
  22. Yea, yea. I understand your disgust. Now, did you look up his itinerary?
