  1. I am embarrassed to admit that this statement came from a Canadian.
  2. If a single parent or a partner of a married couple wants to return to school for an education or to enter an employment contract whether it is an entry level agreement or otherwise, they should have access to universal daycare. The benefits will be realized many many years down the road. We just need for our leaders to have the vision to realize this.
  3. I believe that this should be an issue worldwide.
  4. You have no stats to back up your statement that it will not pass the giggle test (whatever the hell that is, but it is surely relegated to women). You are insulting 'welfare moms' again with your stereotyping. You are assuming welfare moms are stupid with your innuendos. Need I again point out that 'welfare moms' are not stupid and highly intelligent. And given the opportunities, they will probably surpass you in their earning opportunities.
  5. You are compare the DTES with the 'black family'? Incredible. I can't help but LOL.
  6. We do, do we? Then spell out a policy for me?
  7. The Vancouver Aquarium does a great job with rehabilitation. They do not need to breed. Your argument does nothing to support their breeding program.
  8. You are assuming that these women are stupid and cannot earn an education and move on to an above average paying job as I mentioned earlier. You are fixated on these women living off welfare because 'they are stupid', 'they want to have children so they can stay home and live off welfare'. The sociological aspects would not work against these women if folks like you would stop pigeon holing them into a system that you believe in and instead support these women to gain an education and set an example for their children.
  9. Why do we need to breed wild animals? Tell me what the advantage is? And why would we need to capture wild animals if we didn't breed them? Please don't try and tell me that we are all better off viewing wild animals/mammals through a viewing glass?
  10. We can't possibly work out policies here. This is ridiculous.
  11. Well, we certainly can't do much with the species they already have. I have just heard that the breeding ban has been lifted from the aquarium. That is a shame.
  12. But that is your personal opinion, that aquariums should be concerned with science and education and not with the humanity of captured species. Is that not a true statement? Just as I feel that aquariums should encompass all these factors in their programs within the aquarium. Which is why I am concerned with Vision Vancouver losing their seats. Where does it say that Park Boards are there to mandate where and when wildlife are detained and put on display?
  13. This is a common practice in the lower mainland among the east indian population. It allows them to pay off the mortage on a home and purchase another home for other families to move into and so on.
  14. And why do they think it's not a success? And perhaps it has been mentioned. I just haven't read through the previous posts. I apologize.
  15. I don't think our posts here are to detail the structure of policies.
  16. Do you think we are politicians running for office and setting policies? This is far too deep for me!!!
  17. What do you mean by the future (I would assume any person/corporation/entity has a degree of success to have a future) of the aquarium?
  18. If you don't think I get 'much of anything', those are your thoughts. I don't intend to argue with you on that one. I get 'plenty'. As far as the solutions to the DTES, I think they are on the right track, however, we have a long way to go to provide treatment for these people and if other communities and neighbourhoods would step up to the plate instead of the 'nimby' syndrome, we would go a long way to solving these issues.
  19. I'm not looking for a fight and I'm just following the flow of posts.
  20. You didn't really say what you mean by the success of the aquarium. How do you define 'success'?
  21. I take offense when you say: "Simply having kids doesn't deserve a reward - working and schooling does." Women don't 'simply have kids' to deserve a reward. You need to think before you speak. It's a two way street with the father of these children.
  22. There is no cite for that ridiculous statement. Many women't rights advocates don't want to be part of the process of law and order, they just want accusation = conviction.
  23. Canadians should actually be proud that we are taking a stand to provide these needle exchange sites.
  24. Those injection sites are helping prostitutes to get off the street. They are being exposed to social workers/nurses etc while receiving their 'safe' needles that they would otherwise not receive. Why don't you look into the number of prostitutes that have gotten off the streets because of these injection sites before you pull the rug out from under them. And of course there are far more dangerous drugs on the street then mj. I get that.
