  1. They are mistakenly using their religion and usually in remote communities where there is a lack of literate Muslim leaders to educate them on the Quran. So yes conservatism is very much a part of these isolated communities.
  2. Someone sent me this tune. I used to run to this tune. Lindsay Buckingham acoustic version of Big Love.
  3. Do you have any idea of the rates of domestic violence in Canada: On average, every six days a woman in Canada is killed by her intimate partner. In 2011, In 2011, from the 89 police reported On any given day in Canada, more than 3,300 women (along with their 3,000 children) are forced to sleep in an emergency shelter to escape domestic violence. Every night, about 200 women are turned away because the shelters are full. Each year, over 40,000 arrests result from domestic violence—that’s about 12% of all violent crime in Canada.5 Since only 22% of all incidents are reported to the police, the real number is much higher. As of 2010, there were 582 known cases of missing or murdered Aboriginal women in Canada.6(this is Canadian women, not Muslim women) Both Amnesty International and the United Nations have called upon the Canadian government to take action on this issue, without success.7,8 According to the Native Women’s Association of Canada, “if this figure were applied proportionately to the rest of the female population there would be over 18,000 missing Canadian women and girls.”9 In a 2009 Canadian national survey, women reported 460,000 incidents of sexual assault in just one year. 11 Only about 10% of all sexual assaults are reported to police.12 When it comes to sexual assault, women are frequently not believed, blamed for being assaulted, “or subjected to callous or insensitive treatment, when police fail to take evidence, or when their cases are dropped arbitrarily.” 13 Only a handful of reported assaults ever result in a conviction: each year, only about 1,500 sexual assault offenders are actually convicted.14 Perhaps you should look closer to home for violence against women.
  4. I have no idea what you are talking about? Can you quote whatever you are addressing?
  5. My point seems to have eluded you. Typical.
  6. The Donald is much more fitting.
  7. You are insinuating that every Muslim man beats and rapes his wife. So therefore we shouldn't allow them as refugees? Is that what you are saying?
  8. I don't believe that for a second. Americans would rather talk about The Donald. He's much more entertaining.
  9. What a humanitarian effort. Good on you!
  10. More jobs: Refugees to roam the refugee camps to help curtail rape of women and children. You want substance? That is substance. That is the real world these refugees are living in.
  11. An article by Joe Clark. His government saw 60,000 Indochinese asylum seekers come to Canada. "Canadian civil servants are capable of assessing possible security risks among Syrian refugees, Clark said, as they did when his government sent teams of officials overseas to process thousands of Vietnamese applicants living in crowded refugee camps. Clark said his Progressive Conservative government adopted and expanded on the policies put in place by a former Liberal government to directly assist Indochinese refugees who fled in rickety boats after the Communists took power in Hanoi." "With strong political direction from the federal cabinet, Clark said it’s possible to send Canadian officials to United Nations refugee camps, where they can directly meet and interview applicants. “We have an extraordinary capacity to absorb refugees,” he added."
  12. In the meantime, what do we do about these refugees? Let them die on trains, in trucks, in the sea?
  13. Wanted for hire: refugees to haul away dead mothers, children, husbands.
  14. So let's turn our back on refugees and become an embarrassment to the rest of the world.
  15. How would you help these refugees who are fleeting their countries?
  16. Exactly but that's not going to happen anytime soon.
  17. Canada has the resources to do this. Don't be fooled by Harper.
  18. Improve their safety, living conditions and economic opportunity? Right, and how do we do that?
  19. Pat Carney has suggested we immediately take in 100,000 refugees. Sounds like a good plan to me. On the other hand, an Egyptian billionaire has agreed to purchase an island to house up to 200,000 refugees. It's not the the first time I have heard of this. A few weeks back, CBC radio interviewed someone discussing this very idea, but I can't recall who it was. It's sounds like a feasible plan to me. You can read more here.
  20. Say what?
  21. Can you break down the 60,000 further? By Country, region in Canada? As I mentioned earlier Greg, with that many visitors a month, especially in Canada, advertisors would love to advertise here. Given the demographics, this is a highly targeted audience. For example, Real Estate, travel etc. All you have to do is plug in their code and popups can appear (only once per visitor usually, so it's not intrusive). I would suggest getting an advertising package together with the stats and start selling your space!
  22. If you don't really know this guy's videos, why would you even post them and initiate a thread without some sort of research? This just demeans the quality of this forum. Provide some sort of legimate narrative we should respond to.
  23. The difference is also the 'gun culture'. Does anyone need the definition of 'gun culture' explained to them?
