Why are the Conservatives Killing the Wheat Board?
Canuck E Stan replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
History. The western Canadian farmers didn't include the east because they didn't want them. Ontario had its own single desk Wheat Board until the year 2000 until they chose to go to a dual market. So because it was done then, it must stay that way til eternity? With farmers on both sides of the fence about CWB, why not let them decide? If they want it to stay, or want the right to choose, the vote will tell the story. -
NDP proposes Federal Minimum Wage - $10.00
Canuck E Stan replied to ClearWest's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If Happy Jack could, he would give everybody $20 an hour, but what he forgets is business will only tack this onto the goods and services it sells. Then it becomes a vicious cycle where higher prices would force even higher wages. If a business doesn't pay enough or offers better incentives , people won't work for them, they'll go(or should go) work elsewhere. -
Quebec Election: 26 March 2007

Is Charest's condemnation and mocking of the PQ's "referendum" word change going to work? It seems positive for him in the media. -
Odd is right. Have you been drinking? You make no sense whatsoever with this thread.Better go lie down for awhile.

Is this really a smart thing to say? After all, who is going to be in a big rush to come and help if we are not staying anyway. Why bother, just deal with it when it happens. Might not something like. While we are committed until 2009, unless we begin to see more help within the the year it is extremely unlikely that we will extend that commitment. Be more appropriate. It would put the ball in their court, without slamming the door on our options should things change significantly and might actually get our people some help before they leave. I can't help but think this statement is directed at the possibility of an early election and has little to do with the situation in Afghanistan. If Dion should win, it could amount to sentencing our guys to the status quo for two years. No additional help and continuing to take casualties for two more years knowing that they are leaving regardless. No wonder the bulk of the military has little use for the Liberal Party. You forget that Mr.Dion only talked about Kandahar, not the rest of Afghanistan. He can still do the flip/flop thing, after 2009. I can see him saying "Ah,but they are not IN Kandahar, they are outside the city limits." the rest of story.

Market Choice Alliance (MCA) Why is it called the Canadian Wheat Board? The designated area over which the Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) has monopoly powers is only in Western Canada and does not apply to Eastern Canada. Ontario has its own wheat board which is totally optional and where farmers have the right to sell to whoever they choose. -
Wow,simple as one,two,tree.

Sounds like you're the one on the "no one helped me pedestal" If you're bitchin about 100 hours a week, get into another program. If you're bitchin about not having money, take a year off and earn some. If you want to go to school badly enough ,use your head and figure out a way. Thousands of others have done it before you, and many more will do it after you. Excuses are just that, excuses. -

The Liberals need a "Vivian Barbot" type who IS part of the community. Justin doesn't represent Papineau because he is not part of the community...... in more ways than one.

Not "very", just angry about his attitude ( and have been for about 10 years now). He speaks like an old philosopher but I think it's his Acting from Drama school that's he's presenting. He know not of what he speaks. His father was a smart man, educated, a lawyer, knew what he argued about(right or wrong). And Pierre acquired this intelligence base at a younger age than Justin. Justin's doesn't have a background of anything, claim to fame.....Pierre's son. Public speaker at $5,000 a crack. What's his specialty, avalanche safety, getting kids to join Katamavik? It's not his knowledge(he has none), it's strickly his name.....that's it. Why would he make a good politician? Because his father was PM? Do People really think genetics creates good politicians? Sort of like Paul Martin, his father would have made 10 times the PM junior turned out to be. The Media is doing the hype for Trudeau, and Justin loves the attention, but doesn't deserve it. Hope he peters out in Papineau....and any other riding. He hasn't proven his worth......yet. I get the impression that Dion also hopes he peters out. This week Justin has messed up some important media time from Liberal announcements by saying he was running.
