  1. It's fun to play and try to predict an outcome but it still means nothing at all. The only poll that is going to count is the one on election day. I predict and hope that Ford will win. LOL.

  2. Several members who emphasized drama, personal attacks, and profanity (as baiting) to express themselves have moved on, and if this is because of moderation, then that is a good thing.

  3. Timing? At best it appears to be blackmail - pay up or we'll go public. At worst, it's some sort of manipulation by the anti-Ford camp to take advantage of Renata's questionable mental state. Either way, there's a bad smell emanating from it.

  4. https://globalnews.ca/news/4256612/ontario-election-ipsos-poll-doug-ford-pc-majority/ In the end, I think voters are looking not only at the leader, but the team that comes with them and what their cabinet would look like.

  5. I'm a bit confused about this, given it directly followed your quoted material which was. Deco, they said, was well run under Doug Ford. But after the 2010 election, when he stepped away from day-to-day management, it descended into something between managerial gridlock and absolute chaos under the leadership of Randy Ford, Doug and Rob’s brother. It sounds like Doug was actually a good manager, but when his brother took over things went to hell. So this would seem to reflect badly on his brother, not Doug.

  7. As long as the Conservatives stick to a program of more freedom, less government and less taxes they should do quite well as a government and be able to stay in power for decades to come. If Ford will work for the people and not the elite or special interest groups who are only out for themselves and money and power. But that is all up to them. Canadians need a commons sense and logical government and not an emotional and foolish talking one. I know that just hearing the name liberal myself makes me always want to go to the bathroom and upchuck. Just watching all the reaction by the liberals in America after Trump became President and how they have constantly attacked and mocked Trump ever since day one tells me that liberals are not for we the people. Some of their so-called liberal comedians are a bunch of sore losing classless scum. Calling the Presidents daughter a "feckless "c" word should tell us all as to where liberals stand on morality and decency. They truly do give liberalism a bad name. Pun accepted. Better dead than red.

  8. "If recent polls are correct, the Liberals look poised to drop from the governing party in Ontario to losing their official party status." Link Pretty shocking how far they've fallen. Final result of unfettered Liberalism...

  9. "So, being a rational person I lack 'pride' in any system of government that utilizes 'pride' as a foundational principle." I tend to agree with this assertion. "Pride", whether in the form of mindless nationalism or expressed as some form of tribal superiority or entitlement, is inherently centrifugal. Rather, society and government must operate on broadly shared interests and values. We live in a country where our current PM has dangerously declared that there is no mainstream, which is both sociologically and practically ludicrous. To be fair, he probably had no idea what he was talking about, but we can put that explanation aside for now. One can be proud of one's own accomplishments, or perhaps proud of one's family's accomplishments, but in general unless personally and directly involved in some sort of collective activity, one doesn't own the accomplishments, actions or failings of any group to which one nominally, physically or theoretically belongs.

  11. And, if he does a good job at it........the federal Liberals will be in big trouble in the coming election. According to Nick Nanos, just the word "Liberal" makes people see red.....no pun intended.

  12. He can work on the unity thing, but don't expect that to include the media. Like many conservatives he doesn't believe the media will give him a fair hearing because he's not their kind of people. And to be fair, he ISN'T their kind of people. And really, what's the alternative? A dogmatic and not very bright socialist party leader who is hostile to business and the profit motive, promises to make Ontario a sanctuary province for illegal immigrants, and can't imagine any circumstance where a government led by her would ever legislate anyone back to work?

  14. He can wear any tee shirt he wants or no tee shirt at all. I don't care. What I care about are Horwath's policies. Others may react differently. That's their prerogative.

  15. Young people in their late teens and early 20s often act in such a fashion as to appear to reject the values and priorities of their parents. If that's the case here, it presents Horwath as a pretty conventional parent. When I was a teen and young adult, my parents allowed me have long straggly hair (hey, it was the 70s!) and run around in T-shirts sporting rude slogans. And I still somehow finished university and worked for decades in the real world. Funny how that turned out, eh?

  19. Funny you mention greedy. I was thinking this morning along a similar line. The Right is often called greedy at the corporate level - rich companies and CEOs - runaway capitalism - that sort of thing. But this election more than any I remember plays to individual greed - the "what's in it for me" attitude/entitlement. Started by the Liberals and doubled-down by the NDP, it's a schmorgasbord of "free" baubles in the window. I'm so damned disappointed that so many people are falling for the NDP "free" schtick - or are just plain greedy. There's a lot of buyer's remorse already at the federal level - so all I can say is.....be careful what you wish for.

  20. One thing for sure a NDP win is going to end what is left in this province. I just can't believe people can be so fucking stupid or just down right greedy. The unions have had it very good for 15 yrs and now it is time for them to back off. So many people have suffered that last decade, but unions people seem not to care, it is all about them

  22. It seems like minorities always get their way. How a hand full of people are allowed to get away with creating so much trouble for hundreds of thousands of people is beyond me. This is not a way to run a country where a few people can stop huge big projects that will create thousands of jobs and create tax revenue for the government. if injury or life were a threat, especially in this case, than maybe there would be a reason for the anti-crowd against everything to cry wolf but this pipeline does not fall into that category. Minorities must not be allowed to dictate to the majority as to how things will be and get done. Enough already.

  24. Pundits are saying that even when the NDP and PC were tied - the PC would've still have a majority of seats. Incidentally - another poll was given by Nanos yesterday on Powerplay. This one is about the Federal Government. For the first time, PC takes the lead. Nanos says that the very name "Liberal" seems to sound negative to people. Horvath's government is really, really scarey! It'll be worse than the Liberals. I think with the NDP surge, people are scrutinizing the platform of Horvath........ and they're beginning to realize she's living in a dream world - a dream world for her, but a terrible nightmare for Ontarians. But.......let's not be complacent about this. Let's not assume it's a slam dunk. Make sure we all go out, and vote!

  25. 1) Trump can't be worse than any of them yet...he hasn't done anything to equal their sins or blessings. Check the body count. 2) Bush was about far more than 9/11 (remember "torture")...Trump gets his turn at bat too. Trump cannot be worse...yet. 3) Entertainment comes in many forms. The afterglow from Nov 2016 election night still lingers.
