  1. The idiots are essentially brain dead. It is not as if everyone is going to stop driving their cars, buying things made of plastic, flying airplanes, paving roads, etc. So, the oil is going to be shipped, somewhere. Instead of using pipelines with fantastic safety records, the oil will get tidewater in rail cars - a shipping method with a horrible statistical safety record.

  2. Why are we spending billions on energy retrofit programs, climate change research, environmental consultants, and conservation, when we are spending next to nothing to slow down population growth? We're putting a lot of resources into energy efficiency, but all that goes to vain when we ignore rapid population growth. We can't allow ourselves to go beyond 10 Billion, or there will be severe consequences for our quality of life, and environment. We need a plan for humanity to survive at least another 1000 years, and ethical depopulation might be the solution. Are we simply going to ignore the issue, and let countries like India and China get over 2 billion? How will future generations maintain a high quality of life, when the resources start to run out? What will the quality of life be like for them, when they can't get access to affordable food, housing and transportation? The people living in mega-cities are becoming alienated from nature. The quality of life diminishes when they spend 2 to 3 hours a day stuck in traffic. We are running out of farmland, and we don't need to watch the Amazon get destroyed, in order to make room for new farms. By gradually reducing the World's populating, we could start to regrow forests outside cities, providing a beautiful landscape and recreation opportunities for future generations. How do we proceed with aggressive action on overpopulation that will be ethical, and not interfere with humans rights? I give you a picture of Mexico City, showing 16 Square kilometers, without a park or woodlot. How do we get nature back in a rapidly growing city?

  3. The West is the centre of the world's enlightenment and far more advanced in its human rights and treatment of other nations than anywhere else. It is, in fact, the freest, kindest, most enlightened society in the history of the world, and most of the rest of the world are generations, if not centuries behind. Capitalism has raised the living standard of more people in the world than any other philosophical or economic system ever imagined, and continues to do so despite the self-hating rantings of the poorly educated extremists of the left who benefit from it.

  4. Politics is the art of lying....so enjoy all the art. Trump is certainly not the first political artist...and will not be the last. β€œIs politics nothing other than the art of deliberately lying?” - Voltaire

  5. Trump and his ilk? I mean, maybe by accident he might say something true now and then. Politicians don't care about truth... truth isn't a thing. Statements are made with regard to expediency, not truth. A "good fact" is one that helps the political situation of the day, without regard for how it relates to reality. A tiny minority of people might care about whether a statement that was made was "true" or not, but most only care about whether it scores political points for their team, sounds good, or "feels" true.

  6. Indeed, because we both know that commercial fishing (especially trawling) has done far more to damage BC fisheries and marine environments than oil pipelines, loading terminals, and crude carriers.

  7. The BIG LIE continues to grow. Those "modest" 10 billion dollar deficits and balanced budgets were supposed to spur the economy through infrastructure spending. Not only did the deficits bloat to well over $20 billion per year - the Trudeau Liberals have spent only half the money earmarked for infrastructure - with very little impact on the economy. Lies upon lies - there's just no other way to frame it. These guys have got to go. 8. Well, he doubled spending his first term, then doubled it again his second. He built up the debt so that when double digit inflation came in it exploded and became the multi hundred million dollar monster it is now. He also initiated large scale third world immigration, to what ends we still don't know, and pretty much destroyed our military while sucking up to the Chinese and Cubans and alienating half the country.
