  1. Of course, this isn't news to the Indigenous Mayan people, but researchers think they've "found" something: Huge Mayan city with pyramids found hidden under jungle High-tech mapping suggests 10 million people may have lived within the Maya Lowlands http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/technology/mayan-pyramids-1.4519863 Researchers using a high-tech aerial mapping technique have found tens of thousands of previously undetected Mayan houses, buildings, defence works and pyramids in the dense jungle of Guatemala's Peten region, suggesting that millions more people lived there than previously thought. The discoveries, which included industrial-sized agricultural fields and irrigation canals, were announced Thursday by an alliance of U.S., European and Guatemalan archaeologists working with Guatemala's Mayan Heritage and Nature Foundation. ... And the extensive defensive fences, ditch-and-rampart systems and irrigation canals suggest a highly organized workforce. "There's state involvement here, because we see large canals being dug that are re-directing natural water flows," said Thomas Garrison, Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Ithaca College in New York. The 2,100 square kilometres (810 square miles) of mapping done vastly expands the area that was [previously known to be] intensively occupied by the Maya, whose culture flourished between roughly 1,000 BC and 900 AD. Their descendants still live in the region. Ancient Indigenous cosmopolitan cities of North America. Not 'nomads', not wandering 'hunter-gatherers', but sophisticated agricultural, technological, cultural societies and cities of millions of people. Fascinating!

  2. Nonsense....a sell off was expected and desired to cool off over-bought conditions and inflated P/Es....planned interest rate hikes and inflation have far more impact than your hatred of Donald Trump in another country.

  3. More brilliant commentary from the other Jewish expert. Of course it wouldn't dawn on him that the majority of those killed were not German Jews not to mention as Porch suggested the notion of having people live where they were exterminated. Makes perfect sense. I get raped, tortured, have my family massacred I want to live where it happened. Makes perfect sense. I mean without these brilliant experts on Jews and where they should live what would I do. Again the obsession with the need to tell Jews where they should live is past absurd-its pathological. Its a pathological obsession with needing to put Jews in their place. Plus reading back this individual's further comments, he can't fathom that Jews in the holocaust were raped and murdered. The word rapist and rape confuses him. I mean the Germans rape Jews spiritually, physically, literally during the holocaust? No can't be. Porch was being hyperbolic.

  4. There's the kind of brilliant historic analysis I have come to expect on this forum from one of the experts on Jewish history.

  5. Yes...the irony isn't lost. Luckily, Arab soldiers are incompetent vs the IDF.

  6. CPP is no joke when you are retired and need it to live on. EI is no joke either if you are laid off and need it to live.

  7. Why is it impossible for you to accept that there are women who freely choose to wear hijabs? Further to that are you completely oblivious to the incongruity of trying to protect women from doing something against their will by forcing them to do something against their will?

  8. Why is it so hard for you to understand the difference between winter-wear and an extremist religious garment that promotes and legitimizes beliefs completely out of harmony with what Canadians value? And a beekeeper outfit??? Seriously??? You insist on comparing an offensive and harmful extremist religious garment to a beekeeper outfit??

  9. Nice try.....as a total percentage of the indexes, today's sell off barely counts as a fully expected "correction". If Trump can't claim credit for record highs, then he can't be blamed for sell offs either.

  10. Most folks here have zero clue about the Holocaust. They're the sort that would call Dachau a 'death camp'.

  11. Getting fired is the least of DOJ/FBI worries....Americans still remember Loretta Lynch's "innocent" visit with Bill Clinton on the Phoenix Sky Harbor tarmac. This is a political poker game and the Republicans think they have better cards...for now.

  12. Could very well be, but the Republicans were not just going to ignore such low hanging fruit for easy political gain. Democrats thought they could keep this FISA circle jerk under wraps....wrong ! FBI and DOJ have some 'plaining to do ! ETA: FISA warrants cannot be daisy chained.

  13. The entire FISC/FISA process requires very stout evidence of probable cause to violate the rights of American citizens. Cartoon dossiers and Yahoo News do not meet such a standard IMHO. The memo does not attack the veracity of separate, different sources.

  14. If a FISA warrant was issued for Trump Jr. based on half ass sources, then it all goes down in court. The FISC/FISA protocol has at its very core a requirement to be untainted by such dirty tricks.

  15. Everybody already knows and they don't care. The problem will be the media trying to hang his brothers sins against him and the same with Mulroney and her father. And I am rural and the majority will be voting PC, not doug or caroline or who else ,but PC. And my understanding is because of doug ford the PC 's won the scarborough by election. The drug thingy is old news and worn out. That is the least of our worries. And with the polls that came oput today ,they say the same thing, people want change and the PC's are the change.

  16. But I think that is the expectation that can never be met. Different situation / standard implicitly means a departure from U.S. norms, if only to escape being labeled as such. I watched Trudeau's Winnipeg town hall tonight, and it was fascinating to see Muslim immigrants compete for attention/priority with "aboriginals"...both groups with their own different, pressing needs. Trudeau placated them as best he could, but juggling the "multicultural" balls is very difficult in the real world after election season is over.

  19. I would choose Doug Ford because he is the only one to come out and say he would not support a carbon tax. The rest of them might be too much like liberals.
