No, he's Haitian, please do read the linked article before commenting. They are not sending the Minister of Immigration, who is Somalian. This person is an entirely different person. What I find interesting in the article is what is not explicitly said. That is, and it's quite obvious, that the Liberals are now engaging in a furious damage control exercise. It appears that what most sensible people could clearly see is now finally dawning on the Liberals. That is that virtue signalling and self righteous attitudes can have entirely predictable and harmfull effects. Sadly our PM is just not smart enough to see that himself.3 points

I always thought that Terrorism is the result of a Frustrated/Angry person who also suffers from a mental illness. I don't think we can stop people from getting Frustrated or Angry, so maybe focus on helping people with Mental Illnesses??? It does shock me how quickly some in this post fear terrorism more than losing their freedom...I think the government is preforming too much surveillance already.2 points

The open secret about the Canadian refugee system is that there are middle-men involved, sometimes in the original country, sometimes here. Often they're 'new Canadians' who call themselves immigration advisors. Sometimes they're immigration lawyers and their assistants. And these people provide a boiler plate statement to the refugee, telling him or her, in essence, what sort of story to tell to get themselves approved. Remember that there is almost never any actual proof of direct persecution, so it's mostly if the applicant claims to be persecuted and can come up with a credible statement and lies convincingly he or she is often allowed to stay.1 point

I'm not sure of the statistics but I think about 3million people with a Finnish background live in the USA, Canada or Australia and most of all in Sweden. They are the people who went away from Finland because Finland was such a poor horrible shithole which offered no future. Who can blame them? But fortunately not everyone left and today Finland is one of the best places imaginable in the world. The lesson is that leaving a shithole keeps the place a shithole. Somebody must stay and make the place better.1 point

Wherever and whenever Trump has a rally tens of thousands show up. The we the people love him despite what the liberal polls try to tell the people that his popularity has fallen. To be believe a poll put out by some liberal outfit should never be taken seriously. We all should know by now that the liberal/democrats know how to lie and cheat and fix things in order to get the results they want. If Trump is not that popular anymore then how does that explain for all the excitement that Trump gets from his fans wherever Trump goes? The we the people want to be near and socialize with him. When Hillary ran for president she was lucky if she had a hundred people to show up at any of her rallies and then had to endure watching her flip-flop and make a total ass of herself all the time. But hey, what more can I say, eh?1 point

I really don't think Justin ever HAD control of this government. Seriously, I doubt that he's actually intelligent enough to realize what he doesn't understand. I honestly believe the guy is substantially below the average IQ of people who make it to elected government positions, which would explain why he is only able to speak in platitudes and struggles so much with on-the-spot questions. If Butts told him "we should pay this person this much", I highly doubt Justin would have the intellectual wherewithal to have any kind of reasoned response. Likely why he never seems to disagree with anyone on the Liberal side - he's not bright enough to put up a rational argument.1 point

Asking for reasonable/responsible immigration is , again, not maligning. And no Marcus hasn't. This after you say we "raided" other countries for preferred immigrants. The MSM makes their living using words like that. Also, please inform us of the steps being taken to clean up the mess they've created.1 point

Well he won't deny he's a Muslim now, cause we know what that means.1 point

That is just stupid. We are "ethnically identical" to Americans, Western and Eastern Europeans, Russians, Australians; you can't tell us apart by looking at us. Nonetheless there is a lot of variety in culture, laws and government in these countries. There is a standard Egyptian that is used for written communication, in a similar way that English is used throughout the world for business. English also has different dialects so the English spoken in the UK or Australia is not exactly the same as English spoken in Canada, although English speakers can generally understand each other, even if some effort is needed. There are similar differences in dialects in Arab-speaking countries. Statements like "they are identical and you can't tell them apart" when speaking of millions of people from dozens of countries sound remarkably ignorant and racist.1 point

There is no 100% way to ensure there are no new terror attacks without completely sacrificing all personal freedoms in the mix. Sure we could all wear location chips and have cameras with bugs attached to our bodies that let the police know what we are all up too. It is not worth it. Cameras are everywhere in the U.K. and that did not stop people using cars as weapons. There are too many guns out there to ban them now. Besides if the left gets any crazier in the U.S. and Canada it might be a good idea to be armed.1 point

All good question GostHacked. Watching Ralph Goodale now on Power and Politics. It appears some "irregular" refugee claimants have arrived at the border with fake documents. Goodale alluded to the fact the feds are looking at the possibility of human trafficking. Just "alluding", not being clear and straightforward as has been the case with Liberals on this file. There was also an incident of a box of confidential documents disappearing from the temporary CBSA office at the Lacolle border. This thing is looking like a mickey mouse operation which could explode in Trudeau's face. http://www.journaldemontreal.com/2017/08/17/saint-bernard-de-lacolle-des-documents-confidentiels-disparaissent-a-la-frontiere1 point

We do regularly scream bloody murder about government policies that might encourage and support working people having more kids - daycare, maternal and paternal leave, tax breaks, a livable minimum wage.1 point
-
I disagree, I think it is part of a civilized society to help the less fortunate, but this seems more a moral question that we may as well agree to disagree about. Perhaps I should remember from other posts of yours, but I am guessing that you have no problem with immigrants who arrive by proper channels?1 point

Clarification: If the US was hell bent in returning them to Syria. Or gays back to places like Saudi I woukd be against returning them to the States. Ah yes, money money money, people don't matter.1 point
-
This is my opinion and has nothing to do with what the US chooses to do, or even Canada for that matter. I don't believe crossing a border should be a death penalty offense, unless we are at active war with a border country.1 point
-
I don't agree with killing people for crossing the border, but agree that there could be a better way of impressing upon them that illegal immigration will not work. I am not ceryain about the situation in Haiti, I am guessing they are economic refugees rather than war refugees and don't face near certain death if they go back to Haiti. Not sure I would want to send Syrians away if it meant they would be deported back to Syria.1 point
-
I would if I could. Still as much as I am able, I am putting my money where my mouth is. Are you making any plans to join the army and go to war in the ME against Islam? Do you privately fund any anti-Islam groups? Attend their rallies and demonstrations?1 point

I am not in Quebec, but volunteered to help when Syrian refugees were coming to BC. Apparently they had enough helpers and a full-time job made me a less attractive volunteee. I also contribute to the private support of a Syrian family. So, are you at the border shooting them?1 point
-
According to a Reuters story I read yesterday, a bunch of Haitians have been deported in recent months and there is a campaign underway to educate potential illegal crossers that Canada is not really a good option for them. I suspect that people desperate to get out of the States are going to ignore any campaign trying to discourage them, including the possibility of being shot. Consider Mexicans crossing into the States or Syrians getting into leaky boats. Hope fueled by desperation are great motivators.1 point

I don't imagine you are starving in some embattled area of the world, at daily risk of being beaten, raped, shot, bombed, arrested, involuntarily conscripted, or watching the above happen to your kids/spouse/parents/friends. Your "hell" seems to consist of being unhappy with politicians while you sit comfortably and well-fed in your safe home, protected by rule of law and enjoying all the mod-cons. Some hell. Everyone should share such a fate.1 point
-
I don't deny that there are a lot of refugees coming into Quebec and that it is causing some local problems - so much that some resources have been moved from other areas - but a 'collapse of the immigration system' doesn't seem to be the least bit factual. The sources I prefer do not use emotional words like "collapse" or "chaos", etc. even when they describe the issues. They also describe steps the government is taking to alleviate the situation - something the right-wing on this board never do. That's why I consider what you wrote hyperbole.1 point

That's because Trudeau could not ignore Trump. Trump said he would cancel U.S. membership in the TPP and rip open NAFTA and that is exactly what Trump has done. When Trump acts....Trudeau can only react.1 point
-
You can run down the list of Trudeau mini-minions who swarmed the United States for NAFTA 2.0....a Donald Trump Production. Even Mexico did not drop to its knees so fast. Team Trudeau could not ignore Trump, and will not walk away from Canada's economic lifeblood. Trump acts....Trudeau reacts. Rinse and repeat.1 point

If a group of Muslim extremists marched through the street chanting "Allah is Great", brandishing weapons, waving ISIS flags, attacking and fighting protesters and happened to kill a protester what would be the reaction of anyone sane? Do you think anyone would be saying --"Oh, well, Islamic extremists are terrible and we hate them - but the protesters were just as violent and if they hadn't been there would have been no violence and nobody would have gotten killed, so they have to take some responsibility." or "Islamic extremists have the right to march and wave their ISIS flags and brandish weapons and anyone who says otherwise wants to quash free speech". Do you seriously think that would fly? And if not, why should it fly with the alt-right, White Supremacists and neo-Nazis? Then don't discuss with me, problem solved.1 point
-
Indeed yes, if a counter-protester threw the first punch in any of the altercations, that's on him/her. Who was it standing armed in front of a Synagogue? Who created enough fear in some members of the congregation that they wouldn't come to their place of worship? Who created such concern in non-Jews that they felt obliged to offer to help protect the Synagogue and the congregation? Who called for burning of that Synagogue on their webpages, who marched past, shouting "Jews will not replace us" and "Hey, there's the Synagogue"? Who showed up with guns in the first place? Who yelled "Sig Heil" and who chanted racists phrases as they marched with their torches? Of course, these indications of the racist ideology and violence is ignored by these apologists, who somehow think that standing against these people 'is just the same'. I already posted about the counter-protesters at the base of the statue, rushed and beaten by the alt-right group at least one seriously enough injured that he had a stroke. And of course we all know about the woman killed by an out-of-control alt-right kid, never mind the ones injured in that attack. But hey - "the left threw some punches and stood up against these people - they're just as bad and must hold some responsibility." Contrast with the likely response if a few Muslims marched through the street, chanting "Allah is Great" and displaying bomb vests- these same rightists would no doubt demand they be shot on site - never mind excusing them with "Well, if the non-believers didn't get in the way, they wouldn't be hurt". Just why is it so important to the right that the 'other side' be blamed when the ideology of these groups is supposedly disapproved of by everyone? Why do they want to put so much blame on 'leftists' when the right-wing ideology in the States and in Canada has taken more lives than even Islamic extremists? I do not think all right-wingers think this way - they're probably a minority, although strongly represented on this forum. Trump lost a lot of support when he failed to strongly condemn the Nazi's and White Supremacists for their ideology, and tried to soften and deflect with "the other side was bad too" bullshit. For the rest? They're so busy trying to find fault with 'the left' that they've made themselves stupid.1 point
-
Apparently so. It's not the Liberals who are arguing that neo-Nazis and white supremacists with guns aren't anything to worry about, that the counter-protestors were at fault and shouldn't protest facists, and that antifa should be a terrorist group.1 point
-
It is the Conservative who finds losses and hardships to the poor/disenfranchised acceptable, more so than Liberals. Argus posted all about it in a thread not so long ago.1 point

Its not Muslims who are ultimately to blame for this. It's always the left. But of course its not the really the lefts fault. It's the right for never ever ever doing anything about the left other that to whine about it. Either shit, get off the pot or DO something about us.1 point
-
Well, like most people honestly thinking critically about this, I'm pretty sure there are also politicians and CEO's who cheer them. That said some CEO's and industrialists are well known for their nationalist conservatism, like the sort that supported and propelled to power the deadliest fascist in history - you must mean that type.1 point

No you don't. They have been taught by the native grievance industry that they are victims. People with a victim mentality are constantly whining about their lot in life and blaming others. A greater wonder is why progressives want to erase Canada's past.1 point
