Clement does another dirty job for Harper ...

Axe-wielding executives in the public service stand to earn big bonuses based on how much they cut n the run-up to the 2012 federal budget. Treasury Board President Tony Clement says 40 per cent of “at risk” pay for senior managers will be based on how much they contribute to the Conservatives’ target of finding at least $4-billion a year in permanent savings.

...

10-per-cent cut would look like One union leader said he’s concerned financia rewards may encourage managers to go too far in their hunt for cuts. “There’s a potential to be a little overzealous,” said Gary Corbett, president of the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada. Canada. Salaries for federal executives (not including deputy ministers) range from $101,100 to $191,900, and “at risk” pay – based on performance – can range as high as an additiona 20 per cent. Bonuses of up to 6 per cent are also offered.

It will be interesting to see whether execs propose program cuts or just pretend that remaining workers will double up their workloads.

This will not be a slam dunk. I predict a lot of 'civil unrest' among federal public employees.

More protesters on Bay Street ...

Because the "austerity" agenda is being imposed on 99% of us by the world's wealthiest and most powerful 1%, who sit at the G20 table.

The sick thing here, as always in the public service, is that senior executives don't generate the cutback budget scenarios themselves, but make staff do it who also have their necks on the line for job loss. It's always been a fool's game and always will be, because the ones who will 'help' with the process are suckup monkeys who do little work themselves unless it involves toadying to a superior, but they demand more work from staff. They don't get it because they are lousy leaders/motivators ... so the whole thing becomes a stalemate with reduced productivity and toxic environments. Harper is of the stupid mentality that edicts must be followed and "beatings will continue until morale improves" school of thought.

Yup, this will swell protest numbers, and be prepared for significant cuts in programs and services. There aren't enough toadies in the public service to do all the work themselves and toadies are incompetent slackasses anyway.

Its about time for a General Strike and if this kind of crap continues Canadians will have to storm parliament and chase these crooks out of the province...but we can only dream right?

What crap are you referring to? This cut back hardly comes close to the Chretien/Martin cuts in the 1990s. Which by the way, put us on a path of fiscal sustainability, or we'd be Greece right now. Look, if you wanna complete wreck a country fiscally and economically, do it somewhere else. Stay the hell away from this one!!!

I've been telling that to the right wing kooks for years, but they just keep racking up more and more debt.

What? You mean the 200 billion he racked up? As say compared to the 500 billion Lyin Brian's Cons added to the tab?

If it's taking us this long to pay back the liberals debts, it might well take into the next century to pay of the Cons debt... That's assuming the Harper Con's don't bankrupt us fist.
