Army National Guard Unit Deploys

Mississippi Army National Guard Adjutant General James Lipscomb on Thursday briefed the soldiers of the 1st Battalion, 204th Air Defense Artillery, in Newton. They're heading out to Fort Bliss, Texas, but a special mission lies ahead.

"We'll receive some further training on a new missile system," says Specialist Cy Parks, a Ridgeland native. "From there we will go to the national Capital region to perform short-range air support for the national Capital."

The 1st Battalion, 204th ADA this was the first Army National Guard unit to be trained on the Avenger Air Defense Missile System. The soldiers will use their skills to protect a 30-mile perimeter around the White House and areas in Maryland and Virginia; a one-year deployment.

Most of the soldiers will leave behind families, but they know their mission is essential. "The security and intelligence forces have determined that the national command region is (under) a threat," says Col. Sonny Fries, unit Commander. "There's a threat someone else might hijack a plane and crash it into one of our landmarks, the Capitol or the White House."

"As we speak today, the Air National Guard and the Army National Guard is giving force protection and people protection missions around the country. So we will continue to see this type of mobilization inside the U.S.," says Adjutant General James Lipscomb.

protect the White house, from what?

who?

has the colour coded warning system elevated?

Is this the norm ?

just wondering?

Insults are the ammunition of the unintelligent - do not use them. It is okay to criticize a policy, decision, action or comment. Such criticism is part of healthy debate. It is not okay to criticize a person's character or directly insult them, regardless of their position or actions. Derogatory terms such as "loser", "idiot", etc are not permitted unless the context clearly implies that it is not serious. Rule of thumb: Play the ball, not the person (i.e. tackle the argument, not the person making it).

Sorry, it a secret reserved for American citizens only. But don't worry, some of the missile parts were made in Canada!

Whatever happened to those FEMA death trains?

I'd guess that areas like that are continuously defended, regardless of the level of threat at the time.

That said, your post includes a quote of a Colonel saying that it was determined that the area is under a threat, which could mean there's some intelligence pointing to that and that these steps are above the normal security level.

Well, with all the rumours circulating about another terruhist attack to occur in the US (nudge nudge, wink wink) I guess they are just readying themselves for the final showdown and end of all liberties in the USSA.

Let's face it - 911 was a dream come true for the warmonger elite in the US to start their never ending war of Terrah - heck it worked SO well why not try it again?

I can't believe that so many people are falling for the same old trick wrt Iran.

Thinking of Posse comitatus , more then anything.

The Posse Comitatus Act, which regulates the use of military forces for non-military purposes in the United States.

or does that not apply anymore?
