jdobbin Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 I'm surprised no one has said anything about the new format of Mapleleaf forums. Let me be the first to say that it looks good. So far it is clean and concise. I did have problems making an edit using quick edit initially but it may have been trouble with Javascript. I'll advise if it is still a problem as I re-downloaded again just to make sure it was not a corrupted file causing the problems. I don't think the forums are over-moderated but some of the anti-government types will likely never be very happy. How were you co-opted, Charles? heh I notice that you have included lots of buttons to play with. Some of them I can see what they do, others I am not so sure. Could you explain the system as you have set it up thus far? What are the stars alongside someone's name? What does profile count actually count? Anytime you access your own page? Are there any rules on the use of icons, font or size that you wish to state now so that there is no confusion later? I wouldn't want someone to say that they didn't know they couldn't do something. It helps to be upfront about it right from the beginning. Otherwise, people will take advantage of it and annoy everyone else. Anyways, good work and I look forward to hearing how to use it better. geoffrey Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Lots of new features to play with. Unfortunately, I won't be able to for the next couple weeks (or so). I'll be taking a leave of absence for a trip to the ol' Toronto. Joy. Can't see any problems besides the ugly fonts from hell. Forum Admin Greg Posted August 10, 2007 Forum Admin Report Posted August 10, 2007 Yes please explain the various features. Lessons please. I have every intention to explaining all the new features. However, I'm right in the middle of launching the new Mapleleafweb website. So give me a week or two and I'll be back to explain everything. In the mean time, feel free to post a question and or comment and I'll try to stop in once in a while to read and respond. Thanks! Quote Have any issues, problems using the forum? cybercoma Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 The edit post feature doesn't work with the latest version of Firefox, nor does the multiple quote feature... Is anyone else having this problem? Quote
Guest American Woman Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 The edit post feature doesn't work with the latest version of Firefox, nor does the multiple quote feature...Is anyone else having this problem? I have Firefox, though I don't know if it's the latest version or not, but I don't have any problems editing posts. As for the multiple quote feature, it's been disabled-- you can only quote one quote the way the board is set up now. Quote
Charles Anthony Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 (edited) I have a question: Does our My Friends list have to be the same as our favorite posters list? A problem with the Quick Edit feature has been reported last week by one member but it was difficult to tell whether the problem was related to the forum software or the member's browser. I am replying right now to test this in a different way. The edit post feature doesn't work with the latest version of Firefox,I have Firefox, though I don't know if it's the latest version or not, but I don't have any problems editing posts.I have just updated my version of FireFox too on one of my computers and I will test the editing feature right now....----- Edit: .... well, it works for me. I used the Full Edit feature. Now, I will test the Quick Edit.... --- Edit: ... and it works for me too. ---- Edit: testing with my JavaScript turned off; if this text appears, the Edit function works. ---- Edit: testing Quick Edit; if this text appears, it works. The Edit function works. If you are having trouble with the editing, it is on your end. Not all browsers are created equally. Check that you have the latest version of JavaScript too. nor does the multiple quote feature...Is anyone else having this problem? As for the multiple quote feature, it's been disabled-- you can only quote one quote the way the board is set up now.As before, there is a manual way of inserting multiple quotes. Now, the multiple quotes is no longer a default. Edited August 14, 2007 by Charles Anthony testing Quote We do not have time for a meeting of the flat earth society. << Où sont mes amis ? Forum Admin Greg Posted August 13, 2007 Forum Admin Report Posted August 13, 2007 The site seems to be going down a lot. If that observation is permitted. Down? Define down? The forums were off-line for about 20 mins on Friday, as a few files were accidentally deleted. However, that issue was resolved quickly, and everything is operating normal now. Argus Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 The page where I have been signing in for the last year or so now has a red bar across the top telling me it is out of date, and referring me to a new mapleleaf web site. However, when I go there and click on "forums" it says "No forums defined". it won't recognize my user name or password either. In my mind it seems like it has gone down at least 6 times since wednesday. Although never more that 10 miniutes or so..... cybercoma Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 (edited) It must be just my computer then because everytime I hit "complete" on "quick edit" it just bounces my browser up to the top of the page and keeps the quick edit box open. It's weird. I'm running Firefox v2.0.0.6, so I dunno what the problem could be. Full edit works for me though, so it's not that big of a deal. And if I REALLY want to use quick edit, I could load up explorer... but forget Bill Gates... Edited August 13, 2007 by cybercoma Quote

Two big events happened last week - a forum upgrade and the launch of the new version of Mapleleafweb. I am still moving a few things around on the server, however, from this point forward the forums should not be affected. However, I will be making some changes to the forum templates to bring them more in line with the new design of Mapleleafweb. That shouldn't cause any problems with the forums, however, if it does I'll make sure to notify everyone, Thanks... Quote Have any issues, problems using the forum?
